| 1正在那時，來了幾個人把有關加里肋亞人的事，即比拉多把他們的血，與他們的祭品攙和在一起的事報告給耶穌。 | 1One day some persons told Jesus what had occurred in the Temple: Pilate had Galileans killed and their blood mingled with the blood of their sacrifices. |
| 2他回答說：「你們以為這些加里肋亞人，比其他所有的加里肋亞人更有罪，纔遭此禍害嗎？ | 2Jesus replied, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this? |
| 3不是的。我告訴你們：如果你們不悔改，你們都要同樣喪亡。 | 3I tell you: no. But unless you change your ways, you will all perish as they did. |
| 4或如史羅亞塔倒下，而壓死的那十八個人，你們以為他們比耶路撒冷的其他一切居民罪債更大嗎？ | 4And those eighteen persons in Siloah who were crushed when the tower fell, do you think they were more guilty than all the others in Jerusalem? |
| 5不是的。我告訴你們：如果你們不悔改，你們都要同樣喪亡。」 | 5I tell you: no. But unless you change your ways, you will all perish as they did." |
| 6他講了這個比喻說：「有一個人曾將一棵無花果樹，栽在自己的葡萄園內。他來在樹上找果子，但沒有找到， | 6And Jesus continued with this story, "A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard and he came looking for fruit on it, but found none. |
| 7便對園丁說：你看，我三年來在這棵無花果樹上找果子，但沒有找到，你砍掉它罷，為什麼讓它荒廢土地？ | 7Then he said to the gardener: 'Look here, for three years now I have been looking for figs on this tree and I have found none. Cut it down, why should it use up the ground?' |
| 8園丁回答說：主人，再容它這一年罷！待我在它周圍掘土，加上糞； | 8The gardener replied: 'Leave it one more year, so that I may dig around it and add some fertilizer; |
| 9將來若結果子便算了；不然的話，你就把它砍了。」 | 9and perhaps it will bear fruit from now on. But if it doesn't, you can cut it down." |
| 10安息日，耶穌在一會堂裏施教。 | 10Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the sabbath |
| 11有一女人，病魔纏身已十八年了，傴僂着，完全不能直立。 | 11and a crippled woman was there. An evil spirit had kept her bent for eighteen years so that she could not straighten up at all. |
| 12耶穌見了她，便叫她過來，給她說：「女人，你的病已消除了。」 | 12On seeing her, Jesus called her and said, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." |
| 13遂給她按手，她即刻就挺直起來，光榮天主。 | 13Then he laid his hands upon her and immediately she was made straight and praised God. |
| 14會堂長因氣惱耶穌在安息日治病，便給眾人說道：「有六天應當工作，你們在這些日子裏可來治病，但不可在安息日這一天。」 | 14But the ruler of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had performed this healing on the sabbath day and he said to the people, "There are six days in which to work; come on those days to be healed and not on the sabbath." |
| 15主回答他說：「假善人哪！你們每一個人在安息日，有不解下槽上的牛驢，牽去飲水的嗎？ | 15But the Lord replied, "You hypocrites! Everyone of you unties his ox or his donkey on the sabbath and leads it out of the barn to give it water. |
| 16這個女人原是亞巴郎的女兒，她被撒殫纏住已經有十八年了，安息日這一天，就不該解開她的束縛嗎？」 | 16And here you have a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound for eighteen years. Should she not be freed from her bonds on the sabbath?" |
| 17當耶穌講這話時，所有敵對他的人，個個慚愧，一切民眾因他所行的種種輝煌事蹟，莫不歡喜。 | 17When Jesus said this, all his opponents felt ashamed. But the people rejoiced at the many wonders that happened through him. |
| 18耶穌又說：「天主的國相似什麼？我要把它比作什麼呢？ | 18Jesus continued speaking, "What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? |
| 19它相似一粒芥子，人取來種在自己的園中，它遂生長起來，成了大樹，天上的飛鳥都棲息在它的枝頭上。」 | 19Imagine a person who has taken a mustard seed and planted it in the garden. The seed has grown and become like a small tree, so that the birds of the air shelter in its branches." |
| 20他又說：「我要把天主的國比作什麼呢？ | 20And Jesus said again, "What is the kingdom of God like? |
| 21它相似酵母，女人取來藏在三斗麵中，直到全部發酵。」 | 21Imagine a woman who has taken yeast and hidden it in three measures of flour until it is all leavened." |
| 22耶穌經過城市鄉村，隨處施教，朝着耶路撒冷走去。 | 22Jesus went through towns and villages teaching and making his way to Jerusalem. |
| 23有一個人給他說：「主，得救的人果然不多嗎？」耶穌對他們說： | 23Someone asked him, "Lord, is it true that few people will be saved?" And Jesus answered, |
| 24「你們竭力由窄門而入罷！因為將來有許多人，我告訴你們：要想進去，而不得入。 | 24"Do your best to enter by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able. |
| 25及至家主起來把門關上，你們在外面站着，開始敲門說：主，請給我們開門罷！他要回答你們說：我不認識你們是那裏的。 | 25When once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you will stand outside; then you will knock at the door calling: 'Lord, open to us.' But he will say to you: 'I do not know where you come from.' |
| 26那時，你們會說：我們曾在你面前吃過喝過；你也曾在我們的街市上施教過。 | 26Then you will say: We ate and drank with you and you taught in our streets! |
| 27他要說：我告訴你們：我不認識你們是那裏的；你們這些作惡的人，都離開我去罷！ | 27But he will reply: 'I don't know where you come from. Away from me all you workers of evil.' |
| 28幾時你們望見亞巴郎、依撒格、雅各伯及眾先知在天主的國裏，你們卻被棄在外，那裏要有哀號和切齒。 | 28You will weep and grind your teeth when you see Abraham and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves left outside. |
| 29將有從東從西，從北從南而來的人，在天主的國裏坐席。 | 29Others will sit at table in the kingdom of God, people coming from east and west, from north and south. |
| 30看罷！有最後的將成為最先的，也有最先的將成為最後的。」 | 30Some who are among the last will be the first, and others who were first will be last!" |
| 31這時刻，有幾個法利塞人前來給耶穌說：「你離開這裏走罷！因為黑落德要殺你。」 | 31At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and gave him this warning, "Leave this place and go on your way, for Herod wants to kill you." |
| 32耶穌給他們說：「你們去告訴這個狐狸罷！看，我今天明天驅魔治病，第三天就要完畢。 | 32Jesus said to them, "Go and give that fox my answer: 'I drive out demons and heal today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish my course!' |
| 33但是，今天明天以及後天，我必須前行，因為先知不宜死在耶路撒冷之外。 | 33Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and for a little longer, for it would not be fitting for a prophet to be killed outside Jerusalem. |
| 34耶路撒冷，耶路撒冷，你屢次殘殺先知，用石頭擊斃那些奉命到你這裏來的人；我多少次願意聚集你的子女，如母雞聚集自己的雛雞，在牠翅翼下，可是你們偏不願意。 | 34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you slay the prophets and stone your apostles! How often have I tried to bring together your children, as a bird gathers her young under her wings, but you refused! |
| 35看罷！你們的房屋必給你們撇下；但是，我告訴你們：你們斷不能再看見我，直到你們說：因主名而來的，當受讚頌的時刻來到。」 | 35From now on you will be left with your temple and you will no longer see me until the time when you will say: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord." |
