¹耶穌向民眾講完了這一切話以後，就進了葛法翁。	¹When Jesus had finished teaching in this way to the people, he went to Capernaum.
²有一個百夫長，他所喜愛的僕人害病要死。	²There was a captain whose servant was very sick and near to death, a man very dear to him.
³他聽說過耶穌的事，就打發猶太人的幾個長老往他那裏去，求他來治好自己的僕人。	³So when he heard about Jesus, he sent some elders of the Jews to persuade him to come and save his servant's life.
⁴他們到了耶穌那裏，懇切求他說：「他堪當你給他做這事，	⁴The elders came to Jesus and begged him earnestly, saying,
⁵因為他愛護我們的民族，又給我們建築了會堂。」	⁵"He deserves this of you, for he loves our people and even built a synagogue for us."
⁶耶穌就同他們去了。當他離那家已不遠時，百夫長打發朋友向他說：「主啊！不必勞駕了！因為我當不起你到舍下來。	⁶Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the captain sent friends to give this message, "Sir, do not trouble yourself for I am not worthy to welcome you under my roof.
⁷為此，我也認為我不堪當親自到你跟前來，只請你說一句話，我的僕人就必好了。	⁷You see I didn't approach you myself. Just give the order and my servant will be healed.
⁸因為我雖是受派在人權下的，但是，在我下也有士兵；我對這個說：你去！他就去；對那個說：你來！他就來；對我的奴僕說：你作這個！他就作。」	⁸For I myself, a junior officer, give orders to my soldiers and I say to this one: 'Go,' and he goes; and to the other: 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant: 'Do this,' and he does it."
⁹耶穌一聽這些話，就佩服他，遂轉身向跟隨自己的群眾說：「我告訴你們：連在以色列，我也沒有見過這樣大的信德。」	⁹On hearing these words, Jesus was filled with admiration. He turned and said to the people with him, "I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith."
¹⁰被派去的人回到家中，見那僕人已痊癒了。	¹⁰The people sent by the captain went back to his house; there they found that the servant was well.
¹¹以後，耶穌往一座名叫納因的城去，他的門徒和許多群眾與他同行。	¹¹A little later Jesus went to a town called Naim and many of his disciples went with him - a great number of people.
¹²臨近城門時，看，正抬出一個死人來，他是母親的獨生子，母親又是寡婦；且有本城的一大夥人陪着她。	¹²As he reached the gate of the town, a dead man was being carried out. He was the only son of his mother and she was a widow; there followed a large crowd of townspeople.
¹³主一看見她，就對她動了憐憫的心，向她說：「不要哭了！」	¹³On seeing her, the Lord had pity on her and said, "Don't cry."
¹⁴遂上前按住棺材，抬棺材的人就站住了。他說：「青年人，我對你說：起來罷！」	¹⁴Then he came up and touched the stretcher and the men who carried it stopped. Jesus then said, "Young man, awake, I tell you."
¹⁵那死者便坐起來，並開口說話；耶穌便把他交給了他的母親。	¹⁵And the dead man got up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.
¹⁶眾人都害怕起來，光榮天主說：「在我們中間興起了一位大先知，天主眷顧了他自己的百姓。」	¹⁶A holy fear came over them all and they praised God saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us; God has visited his people."
¹⁷於是，稱述耶穌的這番話，傳遍了猶太和附近各地。	¹⁷This news spread out in the Jewish country and the surrounding places.
¹⁸若翰的門徒把這一切報告給若翰，若翰便叫了自己的兩個門徒來，	¹⁸The disciples of John gave him all this news. So he called two of them and
¹⁹打發他們到主那裏去說：「你就是要來的那位，或者我們還要等候另一位？」	¹⁹sent them to the Lord with this message, "Are you the one we are expecting, or should we wait for another?"
²⁰二人來到耶穌跟前說：「洗者若翰派我們來問你：你就是要來的那位，或者我們還要等候另一位？」	²⁰These men came to Jesus and said, "John the Baptist sent us to ask you: Are you the one we are to expect, or should we wait for another?"
²¹正在那時刻，他治好了許多患有病痛和疾苦的，並附有惡魔的人，又恩賜許多瞎子看見。	²¹At that time Jesus healed many people of their sicknesses or diseases; he freed them from evil spirits and he gave sight to the blind.
²²他便回答說：「你們去！把你們所見所聞的報告給若翰：瞎子看見，瘸子行走，癩病人潔淨，聾子聽見，死人復活，貧窮人聽到喜訊。	²²Then he answered the messengers, "Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see again, the lame walk, lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the poor are given good news. Now, listen:
²³凡不因我絆倒的，是有福的。」	²³Fortunate are those who encounter me, but not for their downfall."
²⁴若翰的使者走了以後，耶穌就對群眾論若翰說：「你們出去到荒野裏是為看什麼呢？為看一枝被風搖曳的蘆葦嗎？	²⁴When John's messengers had gone, Jesus began speaking to the people about John. And he said, "What did you want to see when you went to the desert? A tall reed blowing in the wind?
²⁵你們出去到底是為看什麼？為看一位穿細軟衣服的人嗎？啊！那衣着華麗和生活奢侈的人是在王宮裏。	²⁵What was there to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? But people who wear fine clothes and enjoy delicate food are found in palaces.
²⁶你們出去究竟是為看什麼？為看一位先知嗎？是的，我告訴你們：而且他比先知還大。	²⁶What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
²⁷關於這人經上記載說：『看，我派遣我的使者在你面前，他要在你前面預備你的道路。』	²⁷For John is the one foretold in Scripture in these words: I am sending my messenger ahead of you to prepare your ways.
²⁸我告訴你們：婦女所生的，沒有一個比若翰更大的；但在天主的國內最小的，也比他大。	²⁸No one may be found greater than John among those born of women but, I tell you, the least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.
²⁹聽教的眾百姓和稅吏，都順從天主正義的要求而領受了若翰的洗禮。	²⁹All the people listening to him, even the tax collectors, had acknowledged the will of God in receiving the baptism of John,
³⁰但法利塞人和法學士卻沒有受他的洗，在自己身上使天主的計劃作廢。	³⁰whereas the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law, in not letting themselves be baptized by him, ignored the will of God.
³¹我可把這一代的人比作什麼呢？他們相似什麼人呢？	³¹What comparison can I use for this people? What are they like?
³²他們相似坐在街上的兒童，彼此呼喚說：我們給你們吹笛，你們卻不跳舞；我們唱哀歌，你們卻不悲哭。	³²They are like children sitting in the marketplace, about whom their companions complain: 'We piped you a tune and you wouldn't dance; we sang funeral songs and you wouldn't cry.'
³³因為洗者若翰來了，他不吃餅，也不喝酒，你們便說：他附了魔。	³³Remember John: he didn't eat bread or drink wine, and you said: 'He has an evil spirit.'
³⁴人子來了，也吃也喝，你們又說：這是個貪吃嗜酒的人，是個稅吏和罪人的朋友。	³⁴Next came the Son of Man, eating and drinking, and you say: 'Look, a glutton for food and wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'
³⁵但一切智慧之子，必彰顯智慧的正義。」	³⁵But the children of Wisdom always recognize her work."
³⁶有個法利塞人請耶穌同他吃飯，他便進了那法利塞人的家中坐席。	³⁶One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to share his meal, so he went to the Pharisee's home and as usual reclined on the sofa to eat.
³⁷那時，有個婦人，是城中的罪人，她一聽說耶穌在法利塞人家中坐席，就帶着一玉瓶香液，	³⁷And it happened that a woman of this town, who was known as a sinner, heard that he was in the Pharisee's house. She brought a precious jar of perfume
³⁸來站在他背後，靠近他的腳哭開了，用眼淚滴濕了他的腳，用自己的頭髮擦乾，又熱切地口親他的腳，以後抹上香液。	³⁸and stood behind him at his feet, weeping. She wet his feet with tears, she dried them with her hair and kissed his feet and poured the perfume on them.
³⁹那請耶穌的法利塞人見了，就心裏想：「這人若是先知，必定知道這個摸他的是誰，是怎樣的女人：是一個罪婦。」	³⁹The Pharisee who had invited Jesus was watching and thought, "If this man were a prophet, he would know what sort of person is touching him; isn't this woman a sinner?"
⁴⁰耶穌發言對他說：「西滿，我有一件事要向你說。」西滿說：「師傅，請說罷！」	⁴⁰Then Jesus spoke to the Pharisee and said, "Simon, I have something to ask you." He answered, "Speak, master." And Jesus said,
⁴¹「一個債主有兩個債戶：一個欠五百德納，另一個欠五十。	⁴¹"Two people were in debt to the same creditor. One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty.
⁴²因為他們都無力償還，債主就開恩，赦免了他們二人。那麼，他們中誰更愛他呢？」	⁴²As they were unable to pay him back, he graciously canceled the debts of both. Now, which of them will love him more?"
⁴³西滿答說：「我想是那多得恩赦的。」耶穌對他說：「你判斷的正對。」	⁴³Simon answered, "The one, I suppose, who was forgiven more." And Jesus said, "You are right."
⁴⁴他遂轉身向着那婦人，對西滿說：「你看見這個婦人嗎？我進了你的家，你沒有給我水洗腳，她卻用眼淚滴濕了我的腳，並用頭髮擦乾。	⁴⁴And turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman?
⁴⁵你沒有給我行口親禮，但她自從我進來，就不斷地口親我的腳。	⁴⁵You gave me no water for my feet when I entered your house, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. You didn't welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since she came in.
⁴⁶你沒有用油抹我的頭，她卻用香液抹了我的腳。	⁴⁶You provided no oil for my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet.
⁴⁷故此，我告訴你：她的那許多罪得了赦免，因為她愛的多；但那少得赦免的，是愛的少。」	⁴⁷This is why, I tell you, her sins, her many sins, are forgiven, because of her great love. But the one who is forgiven little, has little love."
⁴⁸耶穌遂對婦人說：「你的罪得了赦免。」	⁴⁸Then Jesus said to the woman, "Your sins are forgiven."
⁴⁹同席的人心中想道：「這人是誰？他竟然赦免罪過！」	⁴⁹The others sitting with him at the table began to wonder, "Now this man claims to forgive sins!"
⁵⁰耶穌對婦人說：「你的信德救了你，平安回去罷！」	⁵⁰But Jesus again spoke to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
