| 1以後，耶穌走遍各城各村講道，宣傳天主國的喜訊，同他在一起的有那十二門徒， | 1Jesus walked through towns and countryside, preaching and giving the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve followed him, |
| 2還有幾個曾附過惡魔或患病而得治好的婦女，有號稱瑪達肋納的瑪利亞，從她身上趕出了七個魔鬼； | 2and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary called Magdalene, who had been freed of seven demons; |
| 3還有約安納即黑落德的家宰雇撒的妻子，又有蘇撒納；還有別的許多婦女，她們都用自己的財產資助他們。 | 3Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod's steward; Suzanna and others who provided for them out of their own funds. |
| 4那時，有大夥群眾聚集了來，並有從各城來到耶穌跟前的，他就用比喻說： | 4As a great crowd gathered and people came to him from every town, Jesus began teaching them through stories, or parables, |
| 5「有一個撒種子的，出去撒種子；他撒的時候；有的落在路旁，就被踐踏了，並有天上的飛鳥把它吃了。 | 5"The sower went out to sow the seed. And as he sowed, some of the grain fell along the way, was trodden on and the birds of the sky ate it up. |
| 6有的落在石頭上，一長起來，就乾枯了，因為沒有濕氣。 | 6Some fell on rocky ground, and no sooner had it come up than it withered, because it had no water. |
| 7有的落在荊棘中，荊棘同它一起長起來，把它窒息了。 | 7Some fell among thorns; the thorns grew up with the seed and choked it. |
| 8又有的落在好地裏，長起來，結了百倍的果實。」他說完這些話，就高呼說：「有耳聽的，就聽罷！」 | 8But some fell on good soil and grew, producing fruit - a hundred times as much." And Jesus cried out, "Listen then, if you have ears to hear!" |
| 9他的門徒問他這比喻有什麼意思。 | 9The disciples asked him, "What does this story mean?" |
| 10他說：「天主國的奧秘，是給你們知道的；對其餘的人，就用比喻，使那看的，卻看不見；聽的，卻聽不懂。 | 10And Jesus answered, "You have been granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to others it is given in the form of stories, or parables, so that seeing they may not perceive and hearing they may not understand." |
| 11這比喻的意思是種子是天主的話。 | 11Now, this is the point of the parable: The seed is the word of God. |
| 12那些在路旁的，是指那些人聽了，隨後就有魔鬼來到，從他們心中把那話奪去，使他們不至信從而得救。 | 12Those along the wayside are people who hear it, but immediately the devil comes and takes the word from their minds, for he doesn't want them to believe and be saved. |
| 13那些在石頭上的，是指那些人，他們聽的時候，高興地接受那話，但這些人沒有根，暫時相信，一到試探的時候，就退避了。 | 13Those on the rocky ground are people who receive the word with joy, but they have no root; they believe for a while and give way in time of trial. |
| 14那落在荊棘中的，是指那些聽了的人，還在中途就被掛慮、錢財及生活的逸樂所蒙蔽，沒有結出成熟的果實。 | 14Among the thorns are people who hear the word but as they go their way, are choked by worries, riches, and the pleasures of life; they bring no fruit to maturity. |
| 15那在好地裏的，是指那些以善良和誠實的心傾聽的人，他們把這話保存起來，以堅忍結出果實。 | 15The good soil, instead, are people who receive the word and keep it in a gentle and generous mind, and persevering patiently, they bear fruit. |
| 16沒有人點上燈，用器皿遮蓋住，或放在床底下的，而是放在燈台上，為叫進來的人看見光明。 | 16No one, after lighting a lamp covers it with a bowl or puts it under the bed; rather he puts it on a lampstand so that people coming in may see the light. |
| 17因為沒有隱藏的事，不成為顯露的；沒有秘密的事，不被知道而公開出來的。 | 17In the same way, there is nothing hidden that shall not be uncovered; nothing kept secret that shall not be known clearly. |
| 18所以，你們應當留心要怎樣聽；因為凡有的，還要給他；凡沒有的，連他自以為有的，也要從他奪去。」 | 18Now, take care how well you listen, for whoever produces will be given more, but from those who do not produce, even what they seem to have will be taken away from them." |
| 19耶穌的母親和兄弟到他這裏來了，因為人多，不能與他相會。 | 19Then his mother and his relatives came to him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd. |
| 20有人告訴他說：「你的母親和你的兄弟站在外邊，願意見你。」 | 20Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and wish to meet you." |
| 21他卻回答他們說：「聽了天主的話而實行的，纔是我的母親和我的兄弟。」 | 21Then Jesus answered, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it." |
| 22有一天，耶穌和門徒上了船，對他們說：「我們渡到湖那邊去。」他們便開了船。 | 22One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, "Let us go across to the other side of the lake." |
| 23正在航行時，他睡着了。忽然有狂風降到湖上，進入船中的水，使他們處於危險中。 | 23So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. Suddenly a storm came down on the lake and the boat began to fill with water, and they were in danger. |
| 24門徒們前來叫醒耶穌說：「老師！老師！我們要喪亡了！」他醒起來，叱責了狂風和波浪，風浪就止息平靜了。 | 24The disciples then went to Jesus to wake him, saying, "Master! Master! We are sinking!" Jesus woke up. He rebuked the wind and the rolling waves; the storm subsided, and all was quiet. |
| 25遂對他們說：「你們的信德在那裏？」他們又害怕又驚奇，彼此說：「這人到底是誰，因為他一出命，風和水也都服從他。」 | 25Then Jesus said to them, "Where is your faith?" They had been afraid; now they were astonished and said to one another, "Who can this be? See, he commands even the wind and the sea and they obey him!" |
| 26他們航行到革辣撒人的地方，就是加里肋亞的對面。 | 26The crossing ended at the country of the Gerasenes, on the shore facing Galilee. |
| 27耶穌一上了岸，迎面來了一個那城中附魔的人，他很久不穿衣服，也不住在家裏，而住在墳墓中。 | 27As Jesus stepped ashore, a man from the town approached him. This man was possessed by demons and for a long time was without clothes. He would not live in a house but stayed among the tombstones. |
| 28他一看見耶穌，就喊叫起來，跪伏在他前大聲說：「至高天主之子耶穌，我與你有什麼相干？我求你不要磨難我！」 | 28When he came nearer to Jesus, he yelled and threw himself on the ground before him, and then shouted, "What do you want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me"; |
| 29因為他曾命令邪魔從那人身上出去，原來邪魔已多次抓住他，他曾被鐵鏈和腳鐐捆縳起來，被看管着；他卻掙斷鎖鏈，被魔鬼趕到荒野中。 | 29for Jesus had ordered the evil spirit to leave the man. This spirit had seized him many times, when he had been bound with ropes and chains and kept under control. He would then suddenly break the chains and be driven by the evil spirit into wild places. When Jesus asked him, |
| 30耶穌問他說：「你叫什麼名字？」他說：「軍旅。」因為有許多魔鬼進入了他身內。 | 30"What is your name?" the man said, "I am Legion," because many demons had entered into him. |
| 31魔鬼求耶穌，不要命令他們到深淵中去。 | 31And they begged Jesus not to command them to go into the bottomless pit. |
| 32在那裏有一大群豬在山上牧放着，魔鬼就懇求耶穌許他們進入那些豬內；耶穌准許了他們。 | 32Nearby a great herd of pigs was feeding, so the demons asked to be allowed to enter the pigs, and Jesus let them go. |
| 33於是，魔鬼從那人身上出去，進入豬內。那群豬就從山崖上直衝到湖裏淹死了。 | 33The demons then left the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down into the lake and was drowned. |
| 34放豬的看見發生的事，就逃去，到城裏和鄉間傳報開了。 | 34When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and reported it in the town and countryside. |
| 35人就出來看那發生的事，來到耶穌前，發現脫離魔鬼的那人，穿着衣服，神智清醒，坐在耶穌跟前；他們就害怕起來。 | 35Then people went out to see what had happened and came to Jesus. There they saw the man from whom the demons had been driven out. He was clothed and in his right mind, and was sitting at the feet of Jesus. They were afraid. |
| 36那些見過這事的人就對他們述說：那附魔的人怎樣被治好了。 | 36Then people who had seen it told them how the man had been healed, |
| 37革辣撒四周所有的人民要求耶穌離開他們因為他們十分恐懼。他便上船回去。 | 37and all this crowd from the Gerasene country asked Jesus to depart from them, for a great fear took hold of them. So Jesus got into the boat to return. |
| 38脫離魔鬼的那人祈求耶穌，要同耶穌在一起；但耶穌打發他回去，說： | 38It was then that the man freed of the demons asked Jesus if he could stay with him. |
| 39「你回家去罷，傳述天主為你作了何等大事！」他就去了，滿城傳揚耶穌為他作了何等大事。 | 39But Jesus sent him on his way, "Go back to your family and tell them how much God has done for you." So the man went away, proclaiming through the whole town how much Jesus had done for him. |
| 40耶穌回來時，群眾就迎接他，因為眾人都在等候他。 | 40When Jesus returned, the people welcomed him, for all had been waiting for him. |
| 41看，來了一個人，名叫雅依洛，這人是一個會堂長，他跪伏在耶穌腳前，求他到自己家中去， | 41At that time a man named Jairus, an official of the synagogue, threw himself at Jesus' feet and begged him to come to his house |
| 42因為他有一個獨生女，約十二歲，快要死了。當耶穌去的時候，群眾都擁擠他。 | 42because his only daughter, about twelve years old, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowd pressed from every side. |
| 43有一個婦人，十二年來患血漏病，把全部家產都花在醫生身上，卻沒有一個能治好她。 | 43There was a woman who had suffered from a bleeding for twelve years. This woman had spent everything she had on doctors, but none of them had been able to cure her. |
| 44她來到耶穌後邊，摸了摸他的衣服繸頭，她的血漏立刻就止住了。 | 44Now she came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once. |
| 45耶穌說：「誰摸了我？」眾人都否認；伯多祿說：「老師，群眾都在擁擠着你！」 | 45Then Jesus asked, "Who touched me?" Everyone denied it and Peter said, "Master, the crowd is pushing all around you." |
| 46耶穌卻說：「有人摸了我，因為我覺得有能力從我身上出去了。」 | 46But Jesus said, "Someone touched me, for I felt power go out from me." |
| 47那婦人看不能隱瞞，就戰戰兢兢地來跪伏在耶穌跟前，把自己摸他的原故和如何立刻病好的事，在眾百姓面前都說了出來。 | 47The woman knew she had been discovered. She came trembling and knelt before Jesus. Then she openly confessed why she had touched him and how she had been instantly cured. |
| 48耶穌遂對他說：「女兒，你的信德救了你，平安去罷！」 | 48And Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace." |
| 49他還在說話時，有人從會堂長家裏來說：「你的女兒死了，不必煩勞師傅了。」 | 49While Jesus was still speaking, a messenger arrived from the official's home to tell him, "Your daughter has just died; don't trouble the master any further." |
| 50耶穌聽了，就對他說：「不要害怕，只管信，她必得救。」 | 50But Jesus heard the news and said to the official, "Do not fear, only believe." |
| 51耶穌到了那家裏，除伯多祿、若望、雅各伯和女孩子的父母外，不讓任何人同他進去。 | 51When he entered the house, Jesus allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James and John, with the father and mother of the child. |
| 52眾人都在痛哭哀弔女孩子。他卻說：「不要哭泣！她並沒有死，只是睡着了。」 | 52As all the people were weeping and wailing loudly, Jesus said to them, "Do not weep, she is not dead but asleep." |
| 53那些明知她已死的人，就譏笑他。 | 53And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. |
| 54耶穌拿起她的手來，喊說：「女孩，起來！」 | 54As for Jesus, he took the child by the hand and said to her, "Child, wake up!" |
| 55她的靈魂回來了，她就立刻起來了。耶穌吩咐給她吃的。 | 55And her spirit returned and she got up at once; then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. |
| 56她的父母驚訝的出神。耶穌卻警告他們不要傳揚這事。 | 56The parents were amazed, but Jesus ordered them not to let anyone know what had happened. |
