| 1那時，分封侯黑落德聽到耶穌的名聲， | 1At that time the news about Jesus reached King Herod. |
| 2就對他的臣僕說：「這是洗者若翰，他由死者中復活了；為此，這些奇能纔在他身上運行。」 | 2And he said to his servants, "This man is John the Baptist. John has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him." |
| 3原來，黑落德為了他兄弟斐理伯的妻子黑落狄雅的原故，逮捕了若翰，把他囚在監裏， | 3Herod had, in fact, ordered that John be arrested, bound in chains and put in prison because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. |
| 4因為若翰曾給他說：「你不可佔有這個女人！」 | 4For John had said to him, "It is not right for you to have her as wife." |
| 5黑落德本有意殺他，但害怕群眾，因為他們都以若翰為先知。 | 5Herod wanted to kill him but he did not dare, because he feared the people who regarded John as a prophet. |
| 6到了黑落德的生日，黑落狄雅的女兒，在席間跳舞，中悅了黑落德； | 6On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst of the guests; she so delighted Herod |
| 7為此，黑落德發誓許下，她無論求什麼，都要給她。 | 7that he promised under oath to give her anything she asked. |
| 8她受了她母親的唆使後，就說：「請就地把若翰的頭放在盤子裏給我！」 | 8The girl, following the advice of her mother, said, "Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a dish." |
| 9王十分憂鬱，但為了誓言和同席的人，就下令給她。 | 9The king was very displeased, but because he had made this promise under oath in the presence of the guests, he ordered it to be given her. |
| 10遂差人在監裏斬了若翰的頭， | 10So he had John beheaded in prison |
| 11把頭放在盤子裏拿來，給了女孩；女孩便拿去給了她母親。 | 11and his head brought on a dish and given to the girl. The girl then took it to her mother. |
| 12若翰的門徒前來，領了屍身，埋葬了，然後去報告給耶穌。 | 12Then John's disciples came to take his body and bury it. And they went to bring the news to Jesus. |
| 13耶穌一聽說這消息，就從那裏上船，私下退到荒野地方；群眾聽說了，就從各城裏步行跟了他去。 | 13On hearing this, Jesus set out secretly by boat for a secluded place. But the people heard of it, and they followed him on foot from their towns. |
| 14他一下船，看見一大夥群眾，便對他們動了憐憫的心，治好了他們的病人。 | 14When Jesus went ashore, he saw the crowd gathered there and he had compassion on them. And he healed their sick. |
| 15到了傍晚，門徒到他跟前說：「這地方是荒野，時候已不早了，請你遣散群眾罷！叫他們各自到村莊去買食物。」 | 15Late in the afternoon, his disciples came to him and said, "We are in a lonely place and it is now late. You should send these people away, so they can go to the villages and buy something for themselves to eat." |
| 16耶穌卻對他們說：「他們不必去，你們給他們吃的罷！」 | 16But Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat." |
| 17門徒對他說：「我們這裏什麼也沒有，只有五個餅和兩條魚。」 | 17They answered, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fishes." |
| 18耶穌說：「你們給我拿到這裏來！」 | 18Jesus said to them, "Bring them here to me." |
| 19遂又吩咐群眾坐在草地上，然後拿起那五個餅和兩條魚，望天祝福了；把餅擘開，遞給門徒，門徒再分給群眾。 | 19Then he made everyone sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fishes, raised his eyes to heaven, pronounced the blessing, broke the loaves and handed them to the disciples to distribute to the people. |
| 20眾人吃了，也都飽了；然後他們把剩餘的碎塊收了滿滿十二筐。 | 20And they all ate, and everyone had enough; then the disciples gathered up the leftovers, filling twelve baskets. |
| 21吃的人數，除了婦女和小孩外，約有五千。 | 21About five thousand men had eaten there besides women and children. |
| 22耶穌即刻催迫門徒上船，在他以先到對岸去；這其間，他遣散了群眾。 | 22Immediately Jesus obliged his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the crowd away. |
| 23耶穌遣散了群眾以後，便私自上山祈禱去了。到了夜晚，他獨自一人在那裏。 | 23And having sent the people away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. At nightfall, he was there alone. |
| 24船已離岸幾里了，受着波浪的顛簸，因為吹的是逆風。 | 24Meanwhile, the boat was very far from land, dangerously rocked by the waves for the wind was against it. |
| 25夜間四更時分，耶穌步行海上，朝着他們走來。 | 25At daybreak, Jesus came to them walking on the lake. |
| 26門徒看見他在海上行走，就驚駭說：「是個妖怪。」並且嚇得大叫起來。 | 26When they saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, thinking that it was a ghost. And they cried out in fear. |
| 27耶穌立即向他們說道：「放心！是我。不必害怕！」 | 27But at once Jesus said to them, "Courage! Don't be afraid. It's me!" |
| 28伯多祿回答說：「主，如果是你，就叫我在水面上步行到你那裏罷！」 | 28Peter answered, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you walking on the water." |
| 29耶穌說：「來罷！」伯多祿遂從船上下來，走在水面上，往耶穌那裏去。 | 29Jesus said to him, "Come." And Peter got out of the boat, walking on the water to go to Jesus. |
| 30但他一見風勢很強，就害怕起來，並開始下沉，遂大叫說：「主，救我罷！」 | 30But, in face of the strong wind, he was afraid and began to sink. So he cried out, "Lord, save me!" |
| 31耶穌立刻伸手拉住他，對他說：「小信德的人哪！你為什麼懷疑？」 | 31Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and took hold of him, saying, "Man of little faith, why did you doubt?" |
| 32他們一上了船，風就停了。 | 32As they got into the boat, the wind dropped. |
| 33船上的人便朝拜他說：「你真是天主子。」 | 33Then those in the boat bowed down before Jesus saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God!" |
| 34他們渡到對岸，來到革乃撒勒地方。 | 34They came ashore at Gennesareth. |
| 35那地方的人一認出是耶穌，就打發人到周圍整個地方，把一切患病的人，都帶到耶穌跟前， | 35The local people recognized Jesus and spread the news throughout the region. So they brought all the sick to him, |
| 36求耶穌讓他們只摸摸他的衣邊；凡摸着的，就痊癒了。 | 36begging him to let them touch just the fringe of his cloak. All who touched it became perfectly well. |
