| 1信譽比多財可取，敬仰比金銀可貴。 | 1A good name is better than great wealth; fame is preferable to silver or gold. |
| 2富人與窮人彼此相遇，二者皆為上主所造。 | 2Rich and poor have something in common, Yahweh has made them all. |
| 3精明人遇見災禍，即行隱避；無知者反向前走，自招損害。 | 3The discreet man foresees disgrace and hides, the ignorant keep going at their own expense. |
| 4謙卑的賞報，是敬畏上主，是享有財富、尊榮和生命。 | 4The reward of humility is fear of Yahweh, wealth, honor and life. |
| 5邪惡者的路上，滿佈荊棘羅網；潔身自愛的人，必能遠而避之。 | 5The path of the wicked is paved with thorns and traps, he who loves his life will keep his distance. |
| 6你教導孩童應行的道路，待他老年時也不會離棄。 | 6Teach a child the way he should go, he will not stray from it while he lives. |
| 7富人宰割窮人，債主奴役債戶。 | 7The rich man lords it over the poor, the borrower is the moneylender's slave. |
| 8播種邪惡的，必收穫災禍；他辛苦工作，必全屬徒勞。 | 8Whoever sows injustice reaps disaster; the power of the wicked will be broken. |
| 9目光慈祥的，必蒙受祝福，因他將食糧，施捨給窮人。 | 9The warmhearted man will be blessed since he shares his bread with the poor. |
| 10趕走了狂人，就除了爭執；爭訟與侮辱，亦相繼止息。 | 10Throw out the mocker and the dispute will cease, fighting and insults will end. |
| 11純潔的心靈，是上主所愛；優雅的唇舌，是君王所悅。 | 11He who loves purity of heart and speaks sensibly will find a friend in the king. |
| 12上主的眼目，常衛護知識；敗類的言論，必加以毀滅。 | 12Yahweh's look protects the wise man and discredits the words of the liar. |
| 13只有懶人說：「外面有獅子，在街市之中，我會被吞噬」。 | 13The lazy man says, "There is a lion outside, he will kill me in the street." |
| 14淫婦們的口，實是個深坑；上主惱怒的，必墜入其中。 | 14The adulterous woman's mouth is a deep pit, he whom Yahweh wishes to punish will fall into it. |
| 15孩童心中藏愚昧，只有戒尺能驅逐。 | 15The heart of the child is naturally foolish, the beating of instruction will cure it. |
| 16欺壓窮人，是使他致富；餽贈富者，是使他貧窮。 | 16When you oppress the poor, you make them grow; when you give to the rich, you waste everything. |
| 17你應當傾聽智者的訓言，應專心致意領會我的知識。 | 17Give ear, listen to the words of the wise and apply yourself to understanding them, |
| 18你若細心存想，常在口中誦念，必會令你喜悅。 | 18because it will be your delight to keep them deep within you, to have them always ready on your lips. |
| 19為使你的信賴全托於上主，我今日特將道路指示給你。 | 19I wish now to teach you, so that you will place your trust in Yahweh. |
| 20關於教誨和知識，我豈未多次寫過， | 20Have I not written for you thirty chapters of advice and knowledge |
| 21使你認識真言實理，答覆前來問你的人？ | 21so that you may recognize the truth and be able to answer rightly him who sent you? |
| 22你不可因為人窮而剝削窮人，亦不可在城門口欺壓弱小者； | 22Do not take from the poor man just because he is poor or condemn the one in misfortune, |
| 23因為他們的案件，上主必予以辯護；凡剝奪他們的人，上主必討其生命。 | 23because Yahweh will intercede for them and will carry off the life of their oppressors. |
| 24易怒的人，不可與他交結，暴躁的人，不要與他往來， | 24Do not befriend the angry man or be a companion to the one of rage, |
| 25免得你沾染他的惡習，甘冒喪失性命的危險。 | 25for fear you adopt their ways and lose your life in their midst. |
| 26不要為別人擊掌，不要為債務作保； | 26Do not be one of those who undertake a commitment and act as guarantor of debts; |
| 27免得你沒有什麼償還時，連你的床榻也被人奪走。 | 27if you cannot pay, they will take from you the very bed in which you sleep. |
| 28祖先立定的舊界，你不要加以移動。 | 28Do not move the ancient boundaries established by your forefathers. |
| 29你曾見過辦事能幹的人嗎？他必侍立在君王面前，決不侍立在傭人面前。 | 29You see a clever man at work? He will enter the service of kings; he will not stay in the service of people of no renown. |
