| 1弟兄們！我心裏所懷的切望，向天主所懇求的，就是為使我的同胞獲得救恩。 | 1My brothers and sisters, I wish with all my heart that the Jews be saved and I pray God for them. |
| 2我可以為他們作證：他們對天主有熱心，但不合乎真知超見， | 2I can testify that they are zealous for God, but this is not the way. |
| 3因為他們不認識由天主而來的正義，企圖建立自己的正義，而不順從天主的正義： | 3They don't know God's way of righteousness and they try to achieve their own righteousness: this is why they did not enter God's way of righteousness. |
| 4因為法律的終向是基督，使凡信他的人獲得正義。 | 4For Christ is the aim of the Law and it is then that the believer reaches this righteousness. |
| 5關於出自法律的正義，梅瑟曾寫過：「遵守法律的人，必因法律而生活。」 | 5Moses, indeed, speaks of becoming just through the Law; he writes: The one who obeys the Law will find life through it. |
| 6但是，出自信仰的正義卻這樣說：「你心裏不要說：誰能升到天上去？」意思是說：使基督從那裏下來； | 6But the righteousness coming from the faith says instead: Do not say in your heart: Who will go up to heaven? (because in fact Christ came down from there) |
| 7也不要說：「誰能下到深淵裏去？」意思是說：把基督從死者中領上來。 | 7or who will go down to the world below? (because in fact Christ came up from among the dead). |
| 8正義到底說了什麼？她說：「天主的話離你很近，就在你的口裏，就在你的心中。」這就是指我們關於信仰的宣講。 | 8True righteousness coming from faith also says: The word of God is near you, on your lips and in your hearts. This is the message that we preach, and this is faith. |
| 9如果你口裏承認耶穌為主，心裏相信天主使他從死者中復活起來了，你便可獲得救恩， | 9You are saved if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart you believe that God raised him from the dead. |
| 10因為心裏相信，可使人成義；口裏承認，可使人獲得救恩。 | 10By believing from the heart, you obtain true righteousness; by confessing the faith with your lips you are saved. |
| 11經上又說：「凡相信他的人，不至於蒙羞。」 | 11For Scripture says: No one who believes in him will be ashamed. |
| 12其實，並沒有猶太人與希臘人的區別，因為眾人都有同一的主，他對一切呼號他的人都是富有慈惠的。 | 12Here there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; all have the same Lord, who is very generous with whoever calls on him. |
| 13的確，「凡呼號上主名號的人，必然獲救。」 | 13Truly, all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. |
| 14但是，人若不信他，又怎能呼號他呢？從未聽到他，又怎能信他呢？沒有宣講者，又怎能聽到呢？ | 14But how can they call upon the name of the Lord without having believed in him? And how can they believe in him without having first heard about him? And how will they hear about him if no one preaches about him? |
| 15若沒有奉派遣，人又怎能去宣講呢？正如所記載的：「傳佈福音者的腳步是多麼美麗啊！」 | 15And how will they preach about him if no one sends them? As Scripture says: How beautiful to see those coming to bring good news. |
| 16然而並不是所有的人都服從了福音。依撒意亞曾說過：「上主，有誰相信了我們的報道呢？」 | 16Although not everyone obeyed the good news, as Isaiah said: Lord, who has believed in our preaching? |
| 17所以信仰是出於報道，報道是出於基督的命令。 | 17So, faith comes from preaching, and preaching is rooted in the word of Christ. |
| 18但我要問：難道他們沒有聽過嗎？一定聽過了。「他們的聲音傳遍普世，他們的言語達於地極。」 | 18I ask: Have the Jews not heard? But of course they have. Because the voice of those preaching resounded all over the earth and their voice was heard to the ends of the world. |
| 19但是我再問：難道以色列人不明白嗎？首先梅瑟說過：「我要以那不成子民的人，激起你們的妒火；以愚昧的民族，惹起你們的怒氣。」 | 19Then I must ask: Did Israel not understand? Moses was the first to say: I will make you jealous of a nation that is not a nation, I will excite your anger against a crazy nation. |
| 20繼而依撒意亞也放膽說：「未曾尋找我的人，找到了我；對未曾訪問我的人，我顯現了。」 | 20Isaiah dares to add more: I was found by those not looking for me, I have shown myself to those not asking for me. |
| 21但關於以色列人卻說：「我整天向悖逆違抗的民族，伸出我的手。」 | 21While referring to Israel, the same Isaiah says: I hold out my hands the whole day long to a disobedient and rebellious people. |
