撒慕爾紀上	1 Samuel
¹撒烏耳曾對兒子約納堂和臣僕提過，他願殺達味；但撒烏耳的兒子約納堂很愛達味，	¹Saul discussed his intention of killing David with his son Jonathan and with all his servants. But Saul's son Jonathan, who was very fond of David,
²就警告達味說：「我父親撒烏耳想謀害你，現今請你明晨多加小心，躲藏在一個隱密的地方。	²told him: "My father Saul is trying to kill you. Therefore, please be on your guard tomorrow morning; get out of sight and remain in hiding.
³我去陪我父親到你所在的田間，向我父親代你說情，看情形怎樣，然後告訴你。」	³I, however, will go out and stand beside my father in the countryside where you are, and will speak to him about you. If I learn anything, I will let you know."
⁴於是約納堂向他父親撒烏耳提及達味的長處，對他說：「君王不要得罪自己的僕人達味，因為他沒有得罪你，並且他所行的，都是對你很有利的事。	⁴Jonathan then spoke well of David to his father Saul, saying to him: "Let not your majesty sin against his servant David, for he has committed no offense against you, but has helped you very much by his deeds.
⁵他冒着性命的危險，去殺了那培肋舍特人；上主藉他使以色列獲得了這樣大的勝利，你親自看見了，也很喜歡；為什麼你要犯罪，流無辜者的血，無緣無故殺害達味？」	⁵When he took his life in his hands and slew the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel through him, you were glad to see it. Why, then, should you become guilty of shedding innocent blood by killing David without cause?"
⁶撒烏耳就聽了約納堂的話，並且發誓說：「上主永在！他必不死。」	⁶Saul heeded Jonathan's plea and swore, "As the LORD lives, he shall not be killed."
⁷約納堂便叫回達味，告訴他這一切話，並且領他到撒烏耳前；他就和先前一樣，侍立在君王左右。	⁷So Jonathan summoned David and repeated the whole conversation to him. Jonathan then brought David to Saul, and David served him as before.
⁸再次爆發了戰爭，達味又出征攻打培肋舍特人，打的他們大敗，他們都從他面前逃散了。	⁸When war broke out again, David went out to fight against the Philistines and inflicted a great defeat upon them, putting them to flight.
⁹惡神由上主那裏又降在撒烏耳身上；有一天，君王在家中坐着，手中拿着槍，同時達味正在彈琴。	⁹Then an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with spear in hand and David was playing the harp nearby.
¹⁰撒烏耳想用槍把達味釘在牆上，但達味立刻由撒烏耳面前躲開，君王把槍釘在牆上，達味就逃跑了，沒有喪命。	¹⁰Saul tried to nail David to the wall with the spear, but David eluded Saul, so that the spear struck only the wall, and David got away safe.
¹¹那一夜，撒烏耳派差役去看守達味的家，要在早晨殺害他。他的妻子米加耳警告他說：「今夜你不逃命，明日你就沒有命了！」	¹¹ The same night, Saul sent messengers to David's house to guard it, that he might kill him in the morning. David's wife Michal informed him, "Unless you save yourself tonight, tomorrow you will be killed."
¹²米加耳把達味從窗口縋下去，他便逃跑了，救了命。	¹²Then Michal let David down through a window, and he made his escape in safety.
¹³米加耳隨即把神像拿來放在床上，用毛毯把頭蓋上，又蓋上一件衣服。	¹³Michal took the household idol and laid it in the bed, putting a net of goat's hair at its head and covering it with a spread.
¹⁴當撒烏耳派差役去捉拿達味時，米加耳說：「達味病了。」	¹⁴When Saul sent messengers to arrest David, she said, "He is sick."
¹⁵撒烏耳再派差役去看達味說：「將達味連床抬到這裏來，我要殺死他。」	¹⁵Saul, however, sent the messengers back to see David and commanded them, "Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him."
¹⁶差役進去，見是「神像」躺在床上，有張毛毯蓋着頭。	¹⁶But when the messengers entered, they found the household idol in the bed, with the net of goat's hair at its head.
¹⁷因此撒烏耳對米加耳說：「你為什麼這樣欺騙我？放走了我的仇人，叫他逃命。」米加耳回答撒烏耳說：「他對我說：放我走！不然我要殺你！」	¹⁷Saul therefore asked Michal: "Why did you play this trick on me? You have helped my enemy to get away!" Michal answered Saul: "He threatened me, 'Let me go or I will kill you.'"
¹⁸達味死裏逃生，到了辣瑪，去見撒慕爾，向他報告了撒烏耳對自己所行的一切；然後他便和撒慕爾去了納約特，住在那裏。	¹⁸Thus David got safely away; he went to Samuel in Ramah, informing him of all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to stay in the sheds.
¹⁹有人告訴撒烏耳說：「看，達味住在辣瑪的納約特。」	¹⁹When Saul was told that David was in the sheds near Ramah,
²⁰撒烏耳又派差役去捉拿達味，但是他們看見一大群先知正在出神說妙語，撒慕爾站在他們前面作領導；那時天主的神也降在撒烏耳的差役身上，他們也出神說起妙語來。	²⁰he sent messengers to arrest David. But when they saw the band of prophets, presided over by Samuel, in a prophetic frenzy, they too fell into the prophetic state.
²¹有人將此事告訴了撒烏耳，他又打發別的差役去，他們也出神說開了妙語。撒烏耳第三次又打發差役去，他們也出神說開了妙語。	²¹Informed of this, Saul sent other messengers, who also fell into the prophetic state. For the third time Saul sent messengers, but they too fell into the prophetic state.
²²撒烏耳大發忿怒，便親自去了辣瑪；當他到了色雇的大井那裏，就問說：「撒慕爾和達味在那裏？」有人答說：「在辣瑪的納約特。」	²²Saul then went to Ramah himself. Arriving at the cistern of the threshing floor on the bare hilltop, he inquired, "Where are Samuel and David?", and was told, "At the sheds near Ramah."
²³他就從那裏起身往辣瑪納約特去；那時天主的神也降到他身上，所以他一邊走，一邊出神說妙語，一直到了辣瑪納約特。	²³As he set out from the hilltop toward the sheds, the spirit of God came upon him also, and he continued on in a prophetic condition until he reached the spot. At the sheds near Ramah
²⁴並且他還脫去衣服，也在撒慕爾面前出神說起妙語來，赤裸裸地一天一夜躺在地上：因此有句俗語說：「不是撒烏耳也列在先知中嗎？」	²⁴he, too, stripped himself of his garments and he, too, remained in the prophetic state in the presence of Samuel; all that day and night he lay naked. That is why they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"
