1The following men came to David in Ziklag while he was still under banishment from Saul, son of Kish; they, too, were among the warriors who helped him in his battles. |

2They were archers who could use either the right or the left hand, both in slinging stones and in shooting arrows with the bow. They were some of Saul's kinsmen, from Benjamin. |

3Ahiezer was their chief, along with Joash, both sons of Shemaah of Gibeah; also Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth; Beracah; Jehu, from Anathoth; |

4Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a warrior on the level of the Thirty, and in addition to their number; |

9Some of the Gadites also went over to David when he was at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were valiant warriors, experienced soldiers equipped with shield and spear, who bore themselves like lions, and were as swift as the gazelles on the mountains. |

10Ezer was their chief, Obadiah was second, Eliab third, |
| 11四為米舍曼納，五為耶勒米雅， |
11Mishmannah fourth, Jeremiah fifth, |

12Attai sixth, Eliel seventh, |
| 13八為約哈南，九為厄耳匝巴得， |
13Johanan eighth, Elzabad ninth, |

14Jeremiah tenth, and Machbannai eleventh. |
| 15這些人都是加得的子孫，軍隊的首領，小者可抵百人，大者可抵千人。 |
15These Gadites were army commanders, the lesser placed over hundreds and the greater over thousands. |
| 16就是這些人，在一月裏，約但河水漲到兩岸時，渡過了河，使平原所有的居民東奔西逃。 |
16It was they who crossed over the Jordan when it was overflowing both its banks in the first month, and dispersed all who were in the valleys to the east and to the west. |

17Some Benjaminites and Judahites also came to David at the stronghold. |
| 18達味出來迎接他們說：「如果你們帶來平安，有意協助我，我的心就與你們相契合；如果你們來是為將我這無辜的人出賣於敵人，願我們祖先的天主，予以鑑察，予以審判。」 |
18David went out to meet them and addressed them in these words: "If you come peacefully, to help me, I am of a mind to have you join me. But if you have come to betray me to my enemies though my hands have done no wrong, may the God of our fathers see and punish you." |
| 19當時天主的神充滿在那三十個勇士的首領阿瑪賽身上，他遂說：「達味！我們屬於你；葉瑟的兒子！我們來協肋你；平安！願你平安！願協助你的也都平安！因為你的天主扶助了你。」達味便收留了他們，委他們為部隊隊長。 |
19Then spirit enveloped Amasai, the chief of the Thirty, who spoke: "We are yours, O David, we are with you, O son of Jesse. Peace, peace to you, and peace to him who helps you; your God it is who helps you." So David received them and placed them among the leaders of his troops. |
| 20當達味與培肋舍特人一同去攻打撒烏耳時，也有些默納協人歸順了達味。其實達味並沒有協助培肋舍特人，因為培肋舍特人的首領議決將他遣回，說：「怕達味拿我們的頭去向他的主人撒烏耳投誠。」 |
20Men from Manasseh also deserted to David when he came with the Philistines to battle against Saul. However, he did not help the Philistines, for their lords took counsel and sent him home, saying, "At the cost of our heads he will desert to his master Saul." |
| 21達味回漆刻拉格時，默納協人阿德納，約匝巴得，耶狄厄耳，米加耳，約匝巴得，厄里胡和漆肋泰，都歸順了他；他們都是默納協人中的千夫長。 |
21As he was returning to Ziklag, therefore, these deserted to him from Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands of Manasseh. |
| 22這些人偕同達味攻擊了一群賊寇；他們皆是孔武有力的勇士，成了軍中的官長。 |
22They helped David by taking charge of his troops, for they were all warriors and became commanders of his army. |
| 23前來協助達味的人日漸增多，以致成了一強大的兵團，有如天主的軍旅。 |
23And from day to day men kept coming to David's help until there was a vast encampment, like an encampment of angels. |
| 24來到赫貝龍達味前，欲把撒烏耳的王位，依照上主的命令，交於達味，而準備出征的人數如下： |
24This is the muster of the detachments of armed troops that came to David at Hebron to transfer to him Saul's kingdom, as the LORD had ordained. |
| 25猶大子孫中，執盾持槍的武裝戰士六千八百人； |
25 Judahites bearing shields and spears: six thousand eight hundred armed troops. |
| 26西默盎子孫中，英勇有力的戰士七千一百人； |
26Of the Simeonites, warriors fit for battle: seven thousand one hundred. |
| 27肋未子孫中，四千六百人； |
27Of the Levites: four thousand six hundred, |
| 28亞郎家族的族長約雅達，與他的侍從三千七百人， |
28along with Jehoiada, leader of the line of Aaron, with another three thousand seven hundred, |
| 29少年勇士匝多克和他的家人二十二個軍官； |
29and Zadok, a young warrior, with twenty-two princes of his father's house. |
| 30撒烏耳的同族本雅明子孫中三千人。直到那時止，他們多半支持撒烏耳家； |
30Of the Benjaminites, the brethren of Saul: three thousand--until this time, most of them had held their allegiance to the house of Saul. |
| 31厄弗辣因子孫中，二萬零八百人，都是有力的勇士，在自己家族中也是有名望的人； |
31Of the Ephraimites: twenty thousand eight hundred warriors, men renowned in their ancestral houses. |
| 32默納協半支派中，報名來立達味為王者一萬八千人； |
32Of the half-tribe of Manasseh: eighteen thousand, designated by name to come and make David king. |
| 33依撒加爾子孫中，識時務，指導以色列應如何行事的人，有族長二百人，同族的人都聽他們的指揮； |
33Of the Issacharites, their chiefs who were endowed with an understanding of the times and who knew what Israel had to do: two hundred chiefs, together with all their brethren under their command. |
| 34則步隆子孫中，能上陣作戰，會用各種武器，一心一意助戰的，有五萬人； |
34From Zebulun, men fit for military service, set in battle array with every kind of weapon for war: fifty thousand men rallying with a single purpose. |
| 35納斐塔里子孫中，軍官一千名，執盾持槍跟從他們的，有三萬七千人； |
35From Naphtali: one thousand captains, and with them, armed with shield and lance, thirty-seven thousand men. |
| 36丹子孫中，能上陣作戰的，有二萬八千六百人； |
36Of the Danites, set in battle array: twenty-eight thousand six hundred. |
| 37阿協爾子孫中能上陣作戰的，有四萬人； |
37From Asher, fit for military service and set in battle array: forty thousand. |
| 38約但河東岸，勒烏本族，加得族，默納協半支派中，能持各種兵器作戰的，共有十二萬人： |
38From the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, men equipped with every kind of weapon of war: one hundred and twenty thousand. |
| 39以上這些人都是軍人，有行伍訓練的戰士，誠心來到赫貝龍，要立達味為全以色列的君王；其餘的眾以色列人，也都一心要立達味為王。 |
39All these soldiers, drawn up in battle order, came to Hebron with the resolute intention of making David king over all Israel. The rest of Israel was likewise of one mind to make David king. |
| 40他們在那裏與達味同住了三天，一同飲食，因為有他們的弟兄為他們預備好了一切。 |
40They remained with David for three days, feasting and drinking, for their brethren had prepared for them. |
| 41附近的人，以及遠至依撒加爾則步隆和納斐塔里的人，都用驢、駱駝、騾和牛給他們載來大批食品：麵餅、無花果餅、葡萄乾餅、油和牛羊，因為當時在以色列充滿了快樂。 |
41Moreover, their neighbors from as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali came bringing food on asses, camels, mules, and oxen--provisions in great quantity of meal, pressed figs, raisins, wine, oil, oxen, and sheep. For there was rejoicing in Israel. |
