1Hiram, king of Tyre, sent envoys to David along with masons and carpenters, and cedar wood to build him a house. |

2David now understood that the LORD had truly confirmed him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was greatly exalted for the sake of his people Israel. |
| 3達味在耶路撒冷又娶了妻室，生了許多子女。 |
3David took other wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters. |
| 4達味在耶路撒冷所生兒子的名字如下：沙慕亞、芍巴布、納堂、撒羅滿、 |
4These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, |
| 5依貝哈爾、厄里叔亞、厄里培肋特、 |
5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, |
| 6諾加、乃費格、雅非亞、 |
6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, |
| 7厄里沙瑪、貝里雅達和厄里培肋特。 |
7Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet. |
| 8培肋舍特人聽說達味受傅，為全以色列王，遂都上來向達味尋釁。達味聽說，便出來迎擊。 |
8When the Philistines had heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, they went up in unison to seek him out. But when David heard of this, he marched out against them. |
| 9培肋舍特人上來侵入了勒法因平原。 |
9Meanwhile the Philistines had come and raided the valley of Rephaim. |
| 10那時達味求問天主說：「我可以上去攻打培肋舍特人嗎？你將他們交在我手中嗎？」上主答應他說：「你上去，我必將他們交在你手中。」 |
10David inquired of God, "Shall I advance against the Philistines, and will you deliver them into my power?" The LORD answered him, "Advance, for I will deliver them into your power." |
| 11達味於是上到巴耳培辣親，在那裏擊敗了他們。達味因此說：「天主假我的手使我的敵人崩潰，如水破堤。」因此後人稱這地方為巴耳培辣親。 |
11They advanced, therefore, to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, "God has used me to break through my enemies just as water breaks through a dam." Therefore that place was called Baal-perazim. |
| 12培肋舍特人把自己的神像都遺棄在那裏，達味命人用火燒毀。 |
12The Philistines had left their gods there, and David ordered them to be burnt. |
| 13培肋舍特人又侵入平原。 |
13Once again the Philistines raided the valley, |
| 14達味又求問天主，天主對他說：「不要一直上去追擊他們，要繞到他們後方，從桑林那邊抄他們的後路。 |
14and again David inquired of God. But God answered him: "Do not try to pursue them, but go around them and come upon them from the direction of the mastic trees. |
| 15你一聽見桑樹梢上有腳步聲，要即刻出戰，因為天主在你前面出擊培肋舍特人的軍隊。」 |
15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mastic trees, then go forth to battle, for God has already gone before you to strike the army of the Philistines." |
| 16達味就照天主所命的行了，擊殺培肋舍特人的軍隊，由基貝紅直到革則爾。 |
16David did as God commanded him, and they routed the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer. |
| 17因此達味的聲名傳遍了各地，上主使各民族都害怕他。 |
17Thus David's fame was spread abroad through every land, and the LORD made all the nations fear him. |
