| 1達味召集了以色列的眾首長、各支派首長、值班服事君王的首長、千夫長、百夫長、掌管君王及王室子女財產牲畜的首長，以及太監、勇士和眾顯要，到耶路撒冷來。 |
1David assembled at Jerusalem all the leaders of Israel, the heads of the tribes, the commanders of the divisions who were in the service of the king, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, the overseers of all the king's estates and possessions, and his sons, together with the courtiers, the warriors, and every important man. |
| 2達味王站起來說道：「我的弟兄，我的百姓，請聽我的話！我原有意為上主的約櫃，即為我們天主的腳凳，建造一座安放的殿宇，並且我已作了建造的準備； |
2 King David rose to his feet and said: "Hear me, my brethren and my people. It was my purpose to build a house of repose myself for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, the footstool for the feet of our God; and I was preparing to build it. |
| 3然而天主對我說：你不可為我的名建築殿宇，因為你是一個軍人，流過人的血。 |
3But God said to me, 'You may not build a house in my honor, for you are a man who fought wars and shed blood.' |
| 4上主以色列的天主，由我父全家中選拔了我永遠作王，統治以色列，因為他選拔了猶大為長，由猶大家族中又選拔了我的父家，在我父親的兒子中，他喜愛我，立我作王，統治全以色列； |
4However, the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me from all my father's family to be king over Israel forever. For he chose Judah as leader, then one family of Judah, that of my father; and finally, among all the sons of my father, it pleased him to make me king over all Israel. |
| 5他又從我的眾子中，──因為上主賞賜了我許多兒子，選拔了我兒撒羅滿，坐上主王國的寶座，治理以色列。 |
5And of all my sons--for the LORD has given me many sons--he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the LORD'S royal throne over Israel. |
| 6他這樣對我說：是你的兒子撒羅滿要為我建築殿宇和庭院，因為我已選了他作我的兒子，我要作他的父親。 |
6For he said to me: 'It is your son Solomon who shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him for my son, and I will be a father to him. |
| 7如果他堅守遵行我的誡命、和法律，如同今日一樣，我必鞏固他的王權直到永遠。 |
7I will establish his kingdom forever, if he perseveres in keeping my commandments and decrees as he keeps them now.' |
| 8所以現今當着全以色列，上主的會眾面前，在我們天主聽聞之下，我勸你們必須遵守並尋求上主，你們天主的一切誡命，好使你們保有這塊美麗的地方，永遠遺留給你們的子孫。 |
8Therefore, in the presence of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, I exhort you to keep and to carry out all the commandments of the LORD, your God, that you may continue to possess this good land and afterward leave it as an inheritance to your children forever. |
| 9至於你、我兒撒羅滿！你要認識你父親的天主，全心樂意事奉他，因為上主洞察所有的人心，知道人的一切心思欲念。如果你尋求他，他必使你尋獲；如果你背叛他，他必要永遠拋棄你。 |
9"As for you, Solomon, my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing soul, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the mind's thoughts. If you seek him, he will let himself be found by you; but if you abandon him, he will cast you off forever. |
| 10現在，你該注意，因為上主揀選了你建築殿宇作為他的聖所，你要勇敢去行。」 |
10See, then! The LORD has chosen you to build a house as his sanctuary. Take courage and set to work." |
| 11達味遂將東廊、廂房、府庫、樓閣、內室和至聖所的圖樣，交給了他的兒子撒羅滿； |
11Then David gave to his son Solomon the pattern of the portico and of the building itself, with its storerooms, its upper rooms and inner chambers, and the room with the propitiatory. |
| 12將他心中關於上主殿宇的庭院，周圍的房屋，天主殿內的府庫，聖物的府庫所有的圖樣， |
12He provided also the pattern for all else that he had in mind by way of courts for the house of the LORD, with the surrounding compartments for the stores for the house of God and the stores of the votive offerings, |
| 13以及關於司祭和肋未人的班次，在上主殿內應行的一切禮儀，上主殿內行禮儀時應用的一切器皿，都指示給他， |
13as well as for the divisions of the priests and Levites, for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the liturgical vessels of the house of the LORD. |
| 14並給他指定用多少分量的金子，製各種禮儀應使用的一切金器；用多少分量的銀子，製各種禮儀應使用的一切銀器， |
14He specified the weight of gold to be used in the golden vessels for the various services and the weight of silver to be used in the silver vessels for the various services; |
| 15用多少分量的金子，製金燈台及臺上的金燈，用多少分量製每盞金燈台及臺上的金燈；用多少分量的銀子，製銀燈台及臺上的銀燈，每盞銀燈台及臺上銀燈的重量，按每盞燈台的用途應用多少； |
15likewise for the golden lampstands and their lamps he specified the weight of gold for each lampstand and its lamps, and for the silver lampstands he specified the weight of silver for each lampstand and its lamps, depending on the use to which each lampstand was to be put. |
| 16用多少分量的金子，製供餅的桌子，每張應用多少；用多少銀子製銀桌子； |
16He specified the weight of gold for each table to hold the showbread, and the silver for the silver tables; |
| 17用多少分量的純金，製叉、盤和壺；用多少分量的金子，製各種金碗，每隻碗重量多少；用多少分量的銀子，製各種銀碗，每隻碗重量多少； |
17the pure gold to be used for the forks and pitchers; the amount of gold for each golden bowl and the silver for each silver bowl; |
| 18用多少分量的純金，製造香壇；最後給他指定了車子的圖樣，即展開翅膀遮蓋上主的約櫃的金革魯賓的圖樣； |
18 the refined gold, and its weight, to be used for the altar of incense; and, finally, gold for what would suggest a chariot throne: the cherubim that spread their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD. |
| 19這一切，即這一切工作的圖樣，都給他按照上主的指示劃了出來。 |
19He had successfully committed to writing the exact specifications of the pattern, because the hand of the LORD was upon him. |
| 20達味又對他的兒子撒羅滿說：「你要勇敢勉力去行，不必害怕，不必畏懼，因為上主天主，我的天主必與你同在；他決不遠離你，決不拋棄你，直到你完成修築上主殿宇的一切工作。 |
20Then David said to his son Solomon: "Be firm and steadfast; go to work without fear or discouragement, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or abandon you before you have completed all the work for the service of the house of the LORD. |
| 21你看司祭和肋未人已分好班次，奉行天主殿內的事務；在各種工作上，又有各種的巧匠自願輔助你，首領和全體人民又都聽你的指揮。」 |
21The classes of the priests and Levites are ready for all the service of the house of God; they will help you in all your work with all those who are eager to show their skill in every kind of craftsmanship. Also the leaders and all the people will do everything that you command." |
