| 1納阿瑪人左法爾答覆說： |
1Then Zophar the Naamathite spoke and said: |
| 2因我的思潮起伏，叫我答覆，為此我內心十分急躁。 |
2and because of this I am disturbed. So now my thoughts provide me with an answer, and from my understanding a spirit gives me a reply. |
| 3斥責辱罵我的話，我已聽到，我的理智催迫我答覆。 |
3A rebuke which puts me to shame I hear, |
| 4你豈不知道，自古以來，自從世上有人以來， |
4Do you not know this from olden time, since man was placed upon the earth, |
| 5惡人的歡欣決不久長，無神者的喜樂瞬息即逝？ |
5That the triumph of the wicked is short and the joy of the impious but for a moment? |
| 6他的驕傲雖高頂蒼天，他的頭雖插入青雲， |
6Though his pride mount up to the heavens and his head reach to the clouds, |
| 7但他必像幻像，永歸無有；見過他的人必說：「他那裏去了？」 |
7Yet he perishes forever like the fuel of his fire, and the onlookers say, "Where is he?" |
| 8他又像夢境消散，無蹟可尋；又像夜夢，消失無蹤。 |
8Like a dream he takes flight and is not found again; he fades away like a vision of the night. |
| 9見過他的眼，再也見不到他；他的住所，再也不認識他。 |
9The eye which saw him does so no more; nor shall his dwelling again behold him. |
| 10他的兒子要賠償窮人的損害，他要親手把財物交還。 |
10Though his frame is full of youthful vigor, this shall lie with him in the dust. |
| 11他的骨骸雖富有魄力，但要同他一起埋於塵埃。 |
11Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, and he hides it under his tongue, |
| 12邪惡在他口中雖覺甘甜，藏在他的舌下， |
12Though he retains it and will not let it go but keeps it still within his mouth, |
| 13他雖愛惜不捨，久久含在口中； |
13Yet in his stomach the food shall turn; it shall be venom of asps inside him. |
| 14但那食物在他腹中要起變化，在他五內要變成蛇的毒汁。 |
14The riches he swallowed he shall disgorge; God shall compel his belly to disown them. |
| 15他併吞的財富，必要吐出，天主必使之由他腹中嘔出。 |
15The poison of asps he shall drink in; the viper's fangs shall slay him. |
| 16他原吸入了蛇的毒汁，毒蛇的舌頭必將他殺死。 |
16 He shall see no streams of oil, no torrents of honey or milk. |
| 17他不得觀賞油流如溪，也看不到那流蜜流奶的小河。 |
17Restoring his gains, he shall not enjoy them; though his wealth increases, he shall not rejoice. |
| 18他勞力之所得，應該退還，不得吞下；賺來的財富，不得享用。 |
18Because he has oppressed the poor, and stolen a patrimony he had not built up, |
| 19因為他壓搾了窮人，使他們無依；強佔了人家的房屋，不得再建。 |
19Though he has known no quiet in his greed, his treasures shall not save him. |
| 20因為他口腹之慾總不知足，他所喜愛之物，也救不了他。 |
20Therefore his prosperity shall not endure, |
| 21沒有什麼能逃脫他的吞噬，他的幸福決不久長。 |
21and his hands shall yield up his riches. |
| 22他財產富足時，卻不免拮据，各種的困苦齊集他身。 |
22When he abounds to overflowing, he shall be brought into straits, and nought shall be left of his goods. |
| 23當他肚腹飽滿時，天主的怒火突然降到，箭如雨點射在他身上。 |
23God shall send against him the fury of his wrath and rain down his missiles of war upon him. |
| 24他逃避過鐵器，銅矢必將他射穿。 |
24Should he escape the iron weapon, the bow of bronze shall pierce him through; |
| 25一箭由他的脊背穿透，光亮的箭矢由他的膽囊穿出，死亡的恐怖已落在他身上。 |
25The dart shall come out of his back; terrors shall fall upon him. |
| 26層層黑暗留作他的寶藏，非人燃起的火要焚燒他，吞盡留在他帳幕的人。 |
26Complete darkness is in store for him; the fire which shall consume him needs not to be fanned. |
| 27天要彰顯他的罪惡，地也起來攻擊他。 |
27The heavens shall reveal his guilt, and the earth shall rise up against him. |
| 28洪水沖走他的住宅，在天主義怒之日要全被沖去。 |
28The flood shall sweep away his house with the waters that run off in the day of God's anger. |
| 29這是惡人由天主所應得的一份，是天主為他所註定的產業。 |
29This is the portion of a wicked man, and the heritage appointed him by God. |
