| 1銀有出產之地，金有冶煉之所。 |
1 There is indeed a mine for silver, and a place for gold which men refine. |
| 2鐵由土中掘出，銅自石中鎔煉。 |
2Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is melted out of stone. |
| 3人給黑暗制定了界限，探討幽暗陰晦的堅石，挖至地層深處。 |
3The earth, though out of it comes forth bread, is in fiery upheaval underneath. |
| 4在無人居住之處開鑿礦穴，上面過路的人，也想不到他們遠離人間，身懸半空，搖擺不定。 |
4Its stones are the source of sapphires, and there is gold in its dust. |
| 5地上出產食糧，地下有火翻騰。 |
5But whence can wisdom be obtained, and where is the place of understanding? |
| 6那裏的石頭盡是碧玉，塵沙盡是金沙。 |
6Man knows nothing to equal it, nor is it to be had in the land of the living. |
| 7礦中的幽徑，猛禽不知，鷹眼未見。 |
7Solid gold cannot purchase it, nor can its price be paid with silver. |
| 8野獸未踐踏，猛獅未經過。 |
8 It cannot be bought with gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx or the sapphire. |
| 9人伸手擊打燧石，山基為之震撼動搖。 |
9Gold or crystal cannot equal it, nor can golden vessels reach its worth. |
| 10在巖石中開鑿隧道，所有珍寶盡入眼簾。 |
10Neither coral nor jasper should be thought of; it surpasses pearls and |
| 11探察江河之源流，使寶藏顯露於外。 |

| 12但是智慧在那裏尋覓，那裏是明智之所在？ |
12Whence, then, comes wisdom, and where is the place of understanding? |
| 13智慧的道路，人不認識，在眾生界尋不到她。 |
13It is hid from the eyes of any beast; from the birds of the air it is concealed. |
| 14深淵說：「她不在我這裏。」海洋說：「她不與我同域。」 |
14The path to it no bird of prey knows, nor has the hawk's eye seen that path. |
| 15她非精金所能購買，也不能稱量銀子作她的代價。 |
15The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor has the lion gone that way. |
| 16敖非爾金不能與她較量，寶石和碧玉也不能與她相比。 |
16The abyss declares, "It is not in me"; and the sea says, "I have it not." |
| 17黃金與琉璃不能與她同列，純金的器皿也不能與她交換。 |
17 Abaddon and Death say, "Only by rumor have we heard of it." |
| 18珊瑚與水晶都不足論，取得智慧勝過取得珍珠。 |
18God knows the way to it; it is he who is familiar with its place. |
| 19雇士的黃玉不足與她相比，純金也不能與她較量。 |
19For he beholds the ends of the earth and sees all that is under the heavens. |
| 20究竟智慧由何處而來，那裏是明智之所在？ |
20He has set a boundary for the darkness; to the farthest confines he penetrates. |
| 21在眾生的眼目未曾見過，天空的飛鳥也未發現。 |
21He sets his hand to the flinty rock, and overturns the mountains at their foundations. |
| 22「毀滅」與「死亡」都說：「我們只風聞過她的聲望。」 |
22He splits channels in the rocks; his eyes behold all that is precious. |
| 23惟獨天主認識她的道路，惟有他知道她的處所。 |
23He probes the wellsprings of the streams, and brings hidden things to light. |
| 24因為惟有他觀察地極，俯視天下的一切。 |
24He has weighed out the wind, and fixed the scope of the waters; |
| 25當他劃定風的重量，規定水的定量， |
25When he made rules for the rain and a path for the thunderbolts, |
| 26釐定下雨的季節，規定雷電的路線時， |
26Then he saw wisdom and appraised it, gave it its setting, knew it through and through. |
| 27他已見了她，講述了她，立定了她，考察了她。 |
27And to man he said: Behold, the fear of the LORD is wisdom; and avoiding evil is understanding. |
| 28然後對人說：「看，敬畏上主，就是智慧；遠離邪惡，就是明智。」 |
