| 1上主由旋風中向約伯發言說： |
1 Then the LORD addressed Job out of the storm and said: |
| 2用無知的話，使我的計劃模糊不明的是誰？ |
2Who is this that obscures divine plans with words of ignorance? |
| 3你要像勇士束好你的腰，我要問你，請指教我！ |
3 Gird up your loins now, like a man; I will question you, and you tell me the answers! |
| 4我奠定大地的基礎時，你在那裏？你若聰明，儘管說罷！ |
4Where were you when I founded the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. |
| 5你知道是誰制定了地的度量，是誰在地上拉了準繩？ |
5Who determined its size; do you know? Who stretched out the measuring line for it? |
| 6地的基礎置在何處，是誰立了地的角石？ |
6Into what were its pedestals sunk, and who laid the cornerstone, |
| 7當時星辰一起歌詠，天主的眾子同聲歡呼！ |
7 While the morning stars sang in chorus and all the sons of God shouted for joy? |
| 8海水洶湧如出母胎時，是誰用門將海關閉？ |
8And who shut within doors the sea, when it burst forth from the womb; |
| 9是我用雲彩作海的衣裳，用濃霧作海的襁褓。 |
9When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling bands? |
| 10是我給海劃定了界限，設立了門和閂， |
10When I set limits for it and fastened the bar of its door, |
| 11並下令說：「你到此為止，不得越過；你的狂潮到此為止。」 |
11And said: Thus far shall you come but no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stilled! |
| 12你有生之日，何嘗給晨光出過命令，又何嘗使曙光知道它之所生？ |
12Have you ever in your lifetime commanded the morning and shown the dawn its place |
| 13何嘗使光握緊大地四角，將惡人從那裏抖出去？ |
13For taking hold of the ends of the earth, till the wicked are shaken from its surface? |
| 14曙光改變大地，如在膠泥上蓋印；使萬物出現，如着錦衣； |
14The earth is changed as is clay by the seal, and dyed as though it were a garment; |
| 15撤去惡人的光明，折斷高舉的手。 |
15But from the wicked the light is withheld, and the arm of pride is shattered. |
| 16你曾否到過海的源流，走過深淵的底處？ |
16Have you entered into the sources of the sea, or walked about in the depths of the abyss? |
| 17死亡的門給你開啟過嗎？你見過死影之門嗎？ |
17Have the gates of death been shown to you, or have you seen the gates of darkness? |
| 18你知道大地的廣闊嗎？你若知道，請你說罷！ |
18Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell me, if you know all: |
| 19赴光明之所的路是那一條，黑暗的住處在那裏？ |
19Which is the way to the dwelling place of light, and where is the abode of darkness, |
| 20你知道如何引導黑暗到自己的境地，領黑暗回到自己居所的道路上嗎？ |
20That you may take them to their boundaries and set them on their homeward paths? |
| 21你總該知道，因為你那時已誕生了，而你的年歲已很高。 |
21 You know, because you were born before them, and the number of your years is great! |
| 22你到過雪庫，見過雹倉嗎？ |
22 Have you entered the storehouse of the snow, and seen the treasury of the hail |
| 23那是我為降災之時，為戰爭之日所存放的。 |
23Which I have reserved for times of stress, for the days of war and of battle? |
| 24雲霧由那條路散開，東風由那條路吹往大地？ |
24Which way to the parting of the winds, whence the east wind spreads over the earth? |
| 25誰為暴雨啟開閘門，誰為雷電指示道路， |
25Who has laid out a channel for the downpour and for the thunderstorm a path |
| 26好使雨落在無人之境，降在無人的荒野， |
26To bring rain to no man's land, the unpeopled wilderness; |
| 27為潤澤荒野乾旱之地，好使原野中的綠草生長？ |
27To enrich the waste and desolate ground till the desert blooms with verdure? |
| 28雨有父親嗎？誰生了露珠？ |
28Has the rain a father; or who has begotten the drops of dew? |
| 29冰出自誰的胎？天上的霜是誰生的？ |
29Out of whose womb comes the ice, and who gives the hoarfrost its birth in the skies, |
| 30水怎樣凝結如石？深淵的表面怎樣固結？ |
30When the waters lie covered as though with stone that holds captive the surface of the deep? |
| 31你豈能拴住昴宿的紐結，解開參星的繩索？ |
31 Have you fitted a curb to the Pleiades, or loosened the bonds of Orion? |
| 32你豈能使晨星按時升出，引導北斗和它的星群？ |
32Can you bring forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or guide the Bear with its train? |
| 33你豈知道天體的定律，立定天律以管治大地？ |
33Do you know the ordinances of the heavens; can you put into effect their plan on the earth? |
| 34你豈能使你的聲音上達雲霄，使雨水沛然降在你處？ |
34 Can you raise your voice among the clouds, or veil yourself in the waters of the storm? |
| 35你能否一發令，閃電就發出，且向你說：「我們在這裏！」 |
35 Can you send forth the lightnings on their way, or will they say to you, "Here we are"? |
| 36誰將聰明給與鸛鳥，將智慧賦與雄雞？ |
36Who counts the clouds in his wisdom? Or who tilts the water jars of heaven |
| 37當土壤堅固，泥塊凝結之時， |
37So that the dust of earth is fused into a mass and its clods made solid? |
| 38誰能憑智力數清雲彩，能傾倒天上的水囊？ |
38Do you hunt the prey for the lioness or appease the hunger of her cubs, |
| 39當獅子伏於洞穴，臥於叢林埋伏的時候， |
39While they crouch in their dens, or lie in wait in the thicket? |
| 40你是否能為牝獅獵取食物，滿足幼獅的食慾？ |
40 Who puts wisdom in the heart, and gives the cock its understanding? |
| 41當雛鴉無食，往還飛翔，向天主哀鳴的時候，誰能為烏鴉備食？ |
41Who provides nourishment for the ravens when their young ones cry out to God, and they rove abroad without food? |
