| 1瑪薩的君王肋慕耳的格言，是他母親教給他的： | 1The words of Lemuel, king of Massa. The advice which his mother gave him: |
| 2我兒！我的親生兒！我的長子肋慕耳！我許願所得的孩子！我可給你說些什麼？ | 2What, my son, my first-born! what, O son of my womb; what, O son of my vows! |
| 3你不要將你的精力，為女人而消耗；也不要為君王的宮女，白費你的血氣。 | 3Give not your vigor to women, nor your strength to those who ruin kings. |
| 4肋慕耳！清酒不宜於君王，醇酒不宜於公侯。 | 4It is not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings to drink wine; strong drink is not for princes! |
| 5免得在酒興之餘，輕易將法律忘掉，顛倒窮人的是非。 | 5Lest in drinking they forget what the law decrees, and violate the rights of all who are in need. |
| 6應將醇酒給與哀慟欲絕的人，應將清酒給與心靈痛楚的人， | 6Give strong drink to one who is perishing, and wine to the sorely depressed; |
| 7好叫他們喝了，完全忘掉自己的貧乏，不再記憶自己的憂苦。 | 7When they drink, they will forget their misery, and think no more of their burdens. |
| 8你應為啞巴開口，為被棄的人辯護； | 8Open your mouth in behalf of the dumb, and for the rights of the destitute; |
| 9你應開口秉公行審，應為貧苦弱小辯護。 | 9Open your mouth, decree what is just, defend the needy and the poor! |
| 10賢淑的婦女，有誰能找到？她本身價值，遠勝過珠寶。 | 10When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. |
| 11她的丈夫對她衷心信賴，一切所需要從來不會缺少。 | 11Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. |
| 12她一生歲月，只叫他幸福，不給他煩惱。 | 12She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. |
| 13她弄來羊毛細麻，愉快地親手勞作。 | 13She obtains wool and flax and makes cloth with skillful hands. |
| 14她宛如一隻商船，由遠處運來食糧。 | 14Like merchant ships, she secures her provisions from afar. |
| 15天還未明，她已起身，為給家人分配食物，給婢女們分派家務。 | 15She rises while it is still night, and distributes food to her household. |
| 16她看中一塊田地，就將它買了來，以雙手所得的收入，栽植了葡萄園。 | 16She picks out a field to purchase; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. |
| 17她以勇力束腰，增強自己臂力。 | 17She is girt about with strength, and sturdy are her arms. |
| 18她發覺自己經營生利，她的燈盞夜間仍不熄滅。 | 18She enjoys the success of her dealings; at night her lamp is undimmed. |
| 19她手執紡錘，手指旋轉紗錠。 | 19She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. |
| 20對貧苦的人，她隨手賙濟；對無靠的人，她伸手扶助。 | 20She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. |
| 21為自己的家人，她不害怕風雪，因為全家上下，都穿雙料衣裳。 | 21She fears not the snow for her household; all her charges are doubly clothed. |
| 22她為自己做了華麗的舖蓋，身穿的是細麻和紫錦的衣裳。 | 22She makes her own coverlets; fine linen and purple are her clothing. |
| 23她的丈夫與當地長老同席，在城門口深為眾人所認識。 | 23Her husband is prominent at the city gates as he sits with the elders of the land. |
| 24她紡織紗布予以出售，又製造腰帶賣與商賈。 | 24She makes garments and sells them, and stocks the merchants with belts. |
| 25剛毅和尊嚴是她的服飾，一念及將來便笑容滿面。 | 25She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs at the days to come. |
| 26她一開口即傾吐智慧，舌上常有仁慈的訓誨。 | 26She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is kindly counsel. |
| 27她不斷督察家務，從不白吃閒飯。 | 27She watches the conduct of her household, and eats not her food in idleness. |
| 28她的子女起來向她祝福，她的丈夫對她讚不絕口： | 28Her children rise up and praise her; her husband, too, extols her: |
| 29「賢淑的女子很多，惟有你的超群出眾。」 | 29"Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all." |
| 30姿色是虛幻，美麗是泡影；敬畏上主的女人，纔堪當受人讚美。 | 30Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. |
| 31願她享受她雙手操勞的成果！願她的事業在城門口使她受讚揚！ | 31Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates. |
