Proverbs
我兒,不要忘了我的法律,該誠心恪守我的誡命, 1My son, forget not my teaching, keep in mind my commands;
2For many days, and years of life, and peace, will they bring you.
不要讓慈祥和忠實離棄你,要將她們繫在你的頸上,刻在你的心版上; 3Let not kindness and fidelity leave you; bind them around your neck;
4Then will you win favor and good esteem before God and man.
你應全心信賴上主,總不要依賴自己的聰明; 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not;
6In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.
不要自作聰明,應敬畏上主,遠避邪惡; 7Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the LORD and turn away from evil;
8This will mean health for your flesh and vigor for your bones.
應以你的財物和一切初熟之物,去尊崇上主; 9Honor the LORD with your wealth, with first fruits of all your produce;
10Then will your barns be filled with grain, with new wine your vats will overflow.
我兒,不要輕視上主的懲戒,也不要厭惡他的譴責, 11The discipline of the LORD, my son, disdain not; spurn not his reproof;
12For whom the LORD loves he reproves, and he chastises the son he favors.
13Happy the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding!
因為賺得智慧勝於賺得銀錢;智慧的果實勝於純金。 14For her profit is better than profit in silver, and better than gold is her revenue;
15She is more precious than corals, and none of your choice possessions can compare with her.
在她右邊是延年益壽,在她左邊是富貴榮華。 16Long life is in her right hand, in her left are riches and honor;
她的道路是康樂之道,她的行徑是一片安寧。 17Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace;
18She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who holds her fast.
上主以智慧奠定了大地,以睿智堅定了高天; 19The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, established the heavens by understanding;
20By his knowledge the depths break open, and the clouds drop down dew.
我兒,你應保持明智和慎重,不要讓她們離開你的視線: 21My son, let not these slip out of your sight: keep advice and counsel in view;
22So will they be life to your soul, and an adornment for your neck.
這樣,你走路必感安全,你的腳不致絆倒。 23Then you may securely go your way; your foot will never stumble;
24When you lie down, you need not be afraid, when you rest, your sleep will be sweet.
你決不怕驟然而來的恐怖,也不怕惡人突然而至的摧殘, 25Be not afraid of sudden terror, of the ruin of the wicked when it comes;
26For the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from the snare.
27Refuse no one the good on which he has a claim when it is in your power to do it for him.
28Say not to your neighbor, "Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give," when you can give at once.
29Plot no evil against your neighbor, against him who lives at peace with you.
30Quarrel not with a man without cause, with one who has done you no harm.
31Envy not the lawless man and choose none of his ways:
32To the LORD the perverse man is an abomination, but with the upright is his friendship.
上主詛咒惡人的住宅,祝福義人的寓所。 33The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but the dwelling of the just he blesses;
34When he is dealing with the arrogant, he is stern, but to the humble he shows kindness.
35Honor is the possession of wise men, but fools inherit shame.
