| 1我兒，你應注意我的智慧，側耳傾聽我的見解， | 1My son, to my wisdom be attentive, to my knowledge incline your ear, |
| 2為使你保持審慎的態度，使你的口唇能固守知識。 | 2That discretion may watch over you, and understanding may guard you. |
| 3因為淫婦的口，滴流甜蜜；她的嘴唇，比油還滑； | 3The lips of an adulteress drip with honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; |
| 4但是，與她相處的結果，卻苦若苦艾，刺心有如雙刃的利劍。 | 4But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, as sharp as a two-edged sword. |
| 5她的雙腳陷入死境，她的腳步直趨陰府。 | 5Her feet go down to death, to the nether world her steps attain; |
| 6她不走生命的坦途；她的腳步，躊躇不定，不知所往。 | 6Lest you see before you the road to life, her paths will ramble, you know not where. |
| 7現在，我兒，你要聽從我，不要拋棄我口中的教訓︰ | 7So now, O children, listen to me, go not astray from the words of my mouth. |
| 8你應使你的道路遠離她，不要走近她的家門， | 8Keep your way far from her, approach not the door of her house, |
| 9免得將你的精力，葬送給別人；將你的歲月，委棄給無賴； | 9Lest you give your honor to others, and your years to a merciless one; |
| 10免得你的財產為他人享受，你的辛勞裨益於人家； | 10Lest strangers have their fill of your wealth, your hard-won earnings go to an alien's house; |
| 11免得終期來臨，當你的肉軀和身體精力耗盡時，你只有嘆息， | 11And you groan in the end, when your flesh and your body are consumed; |
| 12說：「唉！為什麼我憎惡了教訓，為什麼我的心藐視了規勸？ | 12And you say, "Oh, why did I hate instruction, and my heart spurn reproof! |
| 13為什麼我沒有聽從師長的勸告，沒有側耳傾聽教訓我的人？ | 13Why did I not listen to the voice of my teachers, nor to my instructors incline my ear! |
| 14在集會和會眾中，我幾乎陷於浩劫。」 | 14I have all but come to utter ruin, condemned by the public assembly!" |
| 15你當飲你自己池裏的水，喝你井裏的活泉。 | 15Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. |
| 16你的泉水豈可外溢，成為街頭的流水？ | 16How may your water sources be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? |
| 17其實都應全歸於你，不得讓外人與你共享。 | 17Let your fountain be yours alone, not one shared with strangers; |
| 18你的泉源理應受祝福；你應由你少年時的妻子取樂。 | 18And have joy of the wife of your youth, |
| 19她宛如可愛的母鹿，嫵媚的母羚；她的酥胸應常使你暢懷，她的愛情應不斷使你陶醉。 | 19your lovely hind, your graceful doe. Her love will invigorate you always, through her love you will flourish continually, |
| 20我兒，你為什麼要迷戀外婦，擁抱別人妻室的胸懷？ | 20Why then, my son, should you go astray for another's wife and accept the embraces of an adulteress? |
| 21上主的眼目時常監視人的道路，不斷審察他的一切行徑。 | 21For each man's ways are plain to the LORD'S sight; all their paths he surveys; |
| 22惡人必被自己的邪惡所纏擾，必為自己罪惡的羅網所捕獲。 | 22By his own iniquities the wicked man will be caught, in the meshes of his own sin he will be held fast; |
| 23他必因不聽教訓而喪命，必因自己過度的愚昧而淪亡。 | 23He will die from lack of discipline, through the greatness of his folly he will be lost. |
