| 1智慧建造了房舍，雕琢了七根石柱， | 1Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; |
| 2宰殺了牲畜，配製了美酒，舖設了飯桌， | 2She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table. |
| 3派出自己的使女，在城市高處吶喊： | 3She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city: |
| 4「誰是無知的，請轉身到這裏來！」她對愚鈍的人說： | 4"Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding," I say, |
| 5「你們來，吃我的食糧，飲我配製的酒！ | 5Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed! |
| 6你們應放棄無知，好使你們得以生存，並在明智的道路上邁進。」 | 6Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding." |
| 7誰矯正輕狂的人，只有自招羞辱；誰責斥邪惡的人，只有自找凌辱。 | 7He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium. |
| 8你不要責斥輕狂的人，免得他恨你；卻要責斥明智的人，他必會愛你。 | 8Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. |
| 9你若指教明智的人，他必更明智；你若教訓正義的人，他必更有見識。 | 9Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning. |
| 10敬畏上主是智慧的肇基；認識至聖者就是睿智。 | 10The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. |
| 11藉着我，你的歲月纔可增多，你的壽命纔可延長。 | 11For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased. |
| 12你若有智慧，你必蒙受其惠；你若是輕狂也只有自食其果。 | 12If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it. |
| 13愚昧太太，浮燥愚蠢，一無所知。 | 13The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing. |
| 14她坐在自家門前，坐在城內高處的座位上， | 14She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights, |
| 15向一往直前的路人喊說： | 15Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way: |
| 16「誰是無知的，請轉身到這裏來！」向愚鈍的人說： | 16"Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say, |
| 17「偷來的水，更香甜；背地吃的餅，更有味。」 | 17Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!" |
| 18他卻不知冥域正在那裏，她的客人都在陰府的深處。 | 18Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests! |
