¹萬望你是我的兄弟，吮過我母親的乳房，好叫我在外邊遇見你時，能親吻你，而不致受人輕視。	¹Oh, that you were my brother, nursed at my mother's breasts! If I met you out of doors, I would kiss you and none would taunt me.
²我要引領你走進我母親的家，進入懷孕我者的內室；給你喝調香的美酒，石榴的甘釀。	²I would lead you, bring you in to the home of my mother. There you would teach me to give you spiced wine to drink and pomegranate juice.
³他的左手在我頭下，他的右手緊抱着我。	³His left hand is under my head and his right arm embraces me.
⁴耶路撒冷女郎！我懇求你們，不要驚醒，也不要喚醒我的愛，讓她自便罷！	⁴I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and hinds of the field, Do not arouse, do not stir up love, before its own time.

⁶請將我有如印璽，放在你的心上，有如印璽，放在你肩上，因為愛情猛如死亡，妒愛頑如陰府：它的焰是火焰，是上主的火燄。	⁶B Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm; For stern as death is love, relentless as the nether world is devotion; its flames are a blazing fire.

¹¹撒羅滿在巴耳哈孟有個葡萄園，他將這葡萄園委托給看守的人；每人為園中的果子，應交一千兩銀子。	¹¹B Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; he gave over the vineyard to caretakers. For its fruit one would have to pay a thousand silver pieces.
¹²那屬我的葡萄園，就在我面前；撒羅滿！一千兩銀子歸你，二百兩歸看守果子的人。	¹²My vineyard is at my own disposal; the thousand pieces are for you, O Solomon, and two hundred for the caretakers of its fruit.
¹³你這住在果園中的女郎，願你使我聽到你的聲音！同伴們都在等候細聽。	¹³G O garden-dweller, my friends are listening for your voice, let me hear it!
¹⁴我的愛人！願你仿效郁香山上的羚羊或幼鹿，趕快跑來！	¹⁴B Be swift, my lover, like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices!
4寓意如同在「默示錄」裏，末世的預言常有重覆，卻也常有演進：「雅歌」的題目亦然。在這一幕內，最大的演進是8:1-3一段。新娘（天主的百姓）用這些話，表示她如何切盼上主可見的來臨，希望他在默西亞的身上藉人性親自顯現，成為「厄瑪奴耳」（「天主與我們同在」，依7:14; 8:8）。她盼望天主取人性成為她可見的哥哥和凈配，而她則為新娘，為妹妹。總而言之，這熱誠的新娘，是在渴望天主聖子降生。
14寓意按希3:7-4:13，和新約其他經書的記載，以民經過曠野的路程，是新約信徒在世生活的預像。進入許地，則是象徵天主的子民進入永遠的安息：只有在這永遠的安息中，教會對天主和基督的愛情才能成為齊全純潔的，才能獲圓的享受（默19:6,7; 20:9）。但為獲得這圓滿的福分，新娘該等待耶穌默西亞的第二次來臨；暫時她還應在各種患難及試探中，藉信仰和希望的生活，證實自己忠貞的愛，以誠摯熱烈的愛，渴望等待凈配的來臨：「主耶穌，你來罷！」（默22:20）。
