| 4然後彼此說：「來，讓我們建造一城一塔，塔頂摩天，好給我們作記念，免得我們在全地面上分散了！」 | 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over the earth." |
| 5上主遂下來，要看看世人所造的城和塔。 | 5LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men had built. |
| 6上主說：「看，他們都是一個民族，都說一樣的語言。他們如今就開始做這事；以後他們所想做的，就沒有不成功的了。 | 6Then the LORD said: "If now, while they are one people, all speaking the same language, they have started to do this, nothing will later stop them from doing whatever they presume to do. |
| 7來，我們下去，混亂他們的語言，使他們彼此語言不通。」 | 7Let us then go down and there confuse their language, so that one will not understand what another says." |
