| 3現在，你拿器械、箭囊和弓，往田間去打點獵物， | 3Take your gear, therefore--your quiver and bow--and go out into the country to hunt some game for me. |
| 4照我的嗜好給我作成美味，拿來給我吃，好叫我在未死以前祝福你。」 | 4 With your catch prepare an appetizing dish for me, such as I like, and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give you my special blessing before I die." |

| 6黎貝加對自己的兒子雅各伯說：「我聽見你父親對你哥哥厄撒烏說： | 6Rebekah said to her son Jacob, "Listen! I overheard your father tell your brother Esau, |
| 7你去給我打點獵物來，作成美味，叫我吃了，好在死前當著上主的面祝福你。」 | 7'Bring me some game and with it prepare an appetizing dish for me to eat, that I may give you my blessing with the LORD'S approval before I die.' |
| 8現在，我兒，要聽從我吩咐你的話。 | 8Now, son, listen carefully to what I tell you. |
| 9到羊群裡去，給我拿兩隻肥美的小山羊來，我要照你父親的嗜好，給他作成美味， | 9Go to the flock and get me two choice kids. With these I will prepare an appetizing dish for your father, such as he likes. |
| 10你端給父親吃，好叫他死前祝福你。」 | 10Then bring it to your father to eat, that he may bless you before he dies." |
| 11雅各伯對母親黎貝加說：「但是我哥哥渾身是毛，我卻皮膚光滑， | 11"But my brother Esau is a hairy man," said Jacob to his mother Rebekah, "and I am smooth-skinned! |
| 12萬一我父親摸我，必以為我哄騙他，我必招來咒罵，而不是祝福。」 | 12Suppose my father feels me? He will think I am making sport of him, and I shall bring on myself a curse instead of a blessing." |
| 13母親對他說：「我兒，咒罵歸於我，你只管聽我的話，去給我拿來。」 | 13His mother, however, replied: "Let any curse against you, son, fall on me! Just do as I say. Go and get me the kids." |
| 14他遂拿了來，交給了他的母親，他母親就照他父親的嗜好作成了美味。 | 14So Jacob went and got them and brought them to his mother; and with them she prepared an appetizing dish, such as his father liked. |
| 15黎貝加又將家中所存的大兒厄撒烏最好的衣服，給她小兒雅各伯穿上； | 15Rebekah then took the best clothes of her older son Esau that she had in the house, and gave them to her younger son Jacob to wear; |
| 16又用小山羊的皮，包在他的手上和他光滑的頸上， | 16and with the skins of the kids she covered up his hands and the hairless parts of his neck. |
| 17然後將自己作好的美味和餅，放在他兒子雅各伯的手裡。 | 17Then she handed her son Jacob the appetizing dish and the bread she had prepared. |
| 18雅各伯來到他父親前說：「我父！」他答說：「我在這裡！我兒，你是誰？」 | 18Bringing them to his father, Jacob said, "Father!" "Yes?" replied Isaac. "Which of my sons are you?" |
| 19雅各伯對父親說：「我是你長子厄撒烏。我已照你吩咐的作了。請坐起來，吃我作的野味，好祝福我。」 | 19Jacob answered his father: "I am Esau, your first-born. I did as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your special blessing." |
| 20依撒格對他兒子說：「我兒！你怎麼這樣快就找著了？」雅各伯答說：「因為上主你的天主使我碰得好。」 | 20But Isaac asked, "How did you succeed so quickly, son?" He answered, "The LORD, your God, let things turn out well with me." |
| 21依撒格對雅各伯說；「我兒！你前來，讓我摸摸，看你是不是我兒厄撒烏？」 | 21Isaac then said to Jacob, "Come closer, son, that I may feel you, to learn whether you really are my son Esau or not." |
| 22雅各伯就走近他父親依撒格前；依撒格摸著他說：「聲音是雅各伯的聲音，手卻是厄撒烏的手。」 | 22So Jacob moved up closer to his father. When Isaac felt him, he said, "Although the voice is Jacob's, the hands are Esau's." |
| 23依撒格沒有分辨出來，因為他的手，像他哥哥厄撒烏的手一樣有毛，就祝福了他。 | 23(He failed to identify him because his hands were hairy, like those of his brother Esau; so in the end he gave him his blessing.) |
| 24隨後說：「你真是我兒厄撒烏嗎？」雅各伯答說：「我是。」 | 24Again he asked him, "Are you really my son Esau?" "Certainly," he replied. |
| 25依撒格說：「我兒！遞給我，叫我吃了你作的野味，好祝福你。」雅各伯於是遞過去，他吃了；又給他拿了酒來，他也喝了。 | 25Then Isaac said, "Serve me your game, son, that I may eat of it and then give you my blessing." Jacob served it to him, and Isaac ate; he brought him wine, and he drank. |
| 26他父親依撒格就對他說：「我兒！你前來吻我。」 | 26Finally his father Isaac said to him, "Come closer, son, and kiss me." |
| 27他就前去吻了父親。他父親一聞到他衣服上的香氣，就祝福他說：「看！我兒子的香氣，像上主祝福的肥田的香氣。 | 27As Jacob went up and kissed him, Isaac smelled the fragrance of his clothes. With that, he blessed him, saying, "Ah, the fragrance of my son is like the fragrance of a field that the LORD has blessed! |
| 28惟願天主賜與你天上的甘露，土地的肥沃，五穀美酒的豐裕！ | 28"May God give to you of the dew of the heavens And of the fertility of the earth abundance of grain and wine. |
| 29願眾民服事你，萬國叩拜你！願你作你兄弟的主人，你母親的兒子叩拜你！凡詛咒你的，必受詛咒；凡祝福你的，必受祝福。」 | 29"Let peoples serve you, and nations pay you homage; Be master of your brothers, and may your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be those who curse you, and blessed be those who bless you." |
| 30依撒格一祝福了雅各伯，雅各伯剛由他父親依撒格面前出來，他哥哥厄撒烏打獵回來了。 | 30Jacob had scarcely left his father, just after Isaac had finished blessing him, when his brother Esau came back from his hunt. |
| 31他也作了美味，給他父親端來，對他父親說：「我父！請起來，吃你兒預備的野味，好祝福我。」 | 31Then he too prepared an appetizing dish with his game, and bringing it to his father, he said, "Please, father, eat some of your son's game, that you may then give me your special blessing." |
| 32他父親依撒格對他說：「你是誰？」他答說：「我是你兒，你長子厄撒烏。」 | 32"Who are you?" his father Isaac asked him. "I am Esau," he replied, "your first-born son." |
| 33依撒格不禁戰慄起來，驚問說：「那麼，是誰打了獵物給我送了來？並且在你未來以前，我已吃了，已祝福了他；他從此必蒙祝福。」 | 33With that, Isaac was seized with a fit of uncontrollable trembling. "Who was it, then," he asked, "that hunted game and brought it to me? I finished eating it just before you came, and I blessed him. Now he must remain blessed!" |
| 34厄撒烏一聽見他父親說出這話，就放聲哀號，對他父親說：「我父，請你也祝福我！」 | 34On hearing his father's words, Esau burst into loud, bitter sobbing. "Father, bless me too!" he begged. |
| 35父親答說：「你弟弟用詭計來奪去了你的祝福。」 | 35When Isaac explained, "Your brother came here by a ruse and carried off your blessing," |
| 36厄撒烏說：「他不是名叫雅各伯嗎？他已兩次欺騙了我：以前奪去了我長子的名分，現在又奪去了我的祝福。」繼而問說：「你沒有給我留下祝福嗎？」 | 36 Esau exclaimed, "He has been well named Jacob! He has now supplanted me twice! First he took away my birthright, and now he has taken away my blessing." Then he pleaded, "Haven't you saved a blessing for me?" |
| 37依撒格回答厄撒烏說：「看，我已立他作你的主人，將所有的兄弟都給他作僕人，將五穀美酒都供給他了。我兒，我還能為你作什麼？」 | 37Isaac replied: "I have already appointed him your master, and I have assigned to him all his kinsmen as his slaves; besides, I have enriched him with grain and wine. What then can I do for you, son?" |
| 38厄撒烏對父親說：「我父，你只有一個祝福嗎？我父，你也得祝福我。」厄撒烏就放聲大哭。 | 38But Esau urged his father, "Have you only that one blessing, father? Bless me too!" Isaac, however, made no reply; and Esau wept aloud. |
| 39他父親依撒格回答他說：「看，你住的地方必缺乏肥沃的土地，天上的甘露。 | 39Finally Isaac spoke again and said to him: "Ah, far from the fertile earth shall be your dwelling; far from the dew of the heavens above! |
| 40你要憑仗刀劍生活，要服事你的弟弟，但你一強盛起來，將由你的頸上，擺脫他的束縛。」 | 40"By your sword you shall live, and your brother you shall serve; But when you become restive, you shall throw off his yoke from your neck." |
| 41厄撒烏因為他父親祝福了雅各伯，便懷恨雅各伯，心下思念說：「為父親居喪的日期已近，到時我必要殺死我弟弟雅各伯。」 | 41Esau bore Jacob a grudge because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, "When the time of mourning for my father comes, I will kill my brother Jacob." |
| 42有人告訴了黎貝加她大兒厄撒烏所說的話；她便派人叫了她小兒雅各伯來，對他說：「看，你哥哥厄撒烏想要殺你洩恨。 | 42When Rebekah got news of what her older son Esau had in mind, she called her younger son Jacob and said to him: "Listen! Your brother Esau intends to settle accounts with you by killing you. |
| 43現在，我兒！你得聽我的話，起身逃往哈蘭我哥哥拉班那裡去， | 43Therefore, son, do what I tell you: flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran, |
| 44與他住些時日，直到你哥哥忿怒消失了。 | 44and stay with him a while until your brother's fury subsides |
| 45幾時你哥哥對你息了怒，忘了你對他作的事，我就派人去，從那裡接你回來。為什麼我在一日內要喪失你們兩個呢？」 | 45(until your brother's anger against you subsides) and he forgets what you did to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back. Must I lose both of you in a single day?" |
| 46黎貝加就對依撒格說：「為了這兩個赫特女人，我厭惡得要死；假使雅各伯也從這地的女人中娶一個像這樣的赫特女人為妻，我還活著做什麼？」 | 46 Rebekah said to Isaac: "I am disgusted with life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob also should marry a Hittite woman, a native of the land, like these women, what good would life be to me?" |
