| 1當人在地上開始繁殖，生養女兒時， | 1 When men began to multiply on earth and daughters were born to them, |
| 2天主的兒子見人的女兒美麗，就隨意選取，作為妻子。 | 2 the sons of heaven saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took for their wives as many of them as they chose. |
| 3上主於是說：「因為人既屬於血肉，我的神不能常在他內；他的壽數只可到一百二十歲。」 | 3 Then the LORD said: "My spirit shall not remain in man forever, since he is but flesh. His days shall comprise one hundred and twenty years." |
| 4當天主的兒子與人的兒女結合生子時，在地上已有一些巨人，（以後也有），他們就是古代的英雄，著名的人物。 | 4 At that time the Nephilim appeared on earth (as well as later), after the sons of heaven had intercourse with the daughters of man, who bore them sons. They were the heroes of old, the men of renown. |
| 5上主見人在地上的罪惡重大，人心天天所思念的無非是邪惡； | 5 When the LORD saw how great was man's wickedness on earth, and how no desire that his heart conceived was ever anything but evil, |
| 6上主遂後悔在地上造了人，心中很是悲痛。 | 6he regretted that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was grieved. |
| 7上主於是說：「我要將我所造的人，連人帶野獸、爬蟲和天空的飛鳥，都由地面上消滅，因為我後悔造了他們。」 | 7So the LORD said: "I will wipe out from the earth the men whom I have created, and not only the men, but also the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air, for I am sorry that I made them." |
| 8惟有諾厄在上主眼中蒙受恩愛。 | 8But Noah found favor with the LORD. |
| 9以下是諾厄的小史：諾厄是他同時代惟一正義齊全的人，常同天主往來。 | 9These are the descendants of Noah. Noah, a good man and blameless in that age, |
| 10他生了三個兒子：就是閃、含、和耶斐特。 | 10for he walked with God, begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. |
| 11大地已在天主面前敗壞，到處充滿了強暴。 | 11In the eyes of God the earth was corrupt and full of lawlessness. |
| 12天主見大地已敗壞，因為凡有血肉的人，品行在地上全敗壞了， | 12When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals led depraved lives on earth, |
| 13天主遂對諾厄說：「我已決定要結果一切有血肉的人，因為他們使大地充滿了強暴，我要將他們由大地上消滅。 | 13he said to Noah: "I have decided to put an end to all mortals on earth; the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I will destroy them and all life on earth. |
| 14你要用柏木造一隻方舟，舟內建造一些艙房，內外都塗上瀝青。 | 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood, put various compartments in it, and cover it inside and out with pitch. |
| 15你要這樣建造：方舟要有三百肘長，五十肘寬，三十肘高。 | 15 This is how you shall build it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. |
| 16方舟上層四面做上窗戶，高一肘；門要安在側面；方舟要分為上中下三層。 | 16 Make an opening for daylight in the ark, and finish the ark a cubit above it. Put an entrance in the side of the ark, which you shall make with bottom, second and third decks. |
| 17看我要使洪水在地上氾濫，消滅天下一切有生氣的血肉；凡地上所有的都要滅亡。 | 17I, on my part, am about to bring the flood (waters) on the earth, to destroy everywhere all creatures in which there is the breath of life; everything on earth shall perish. |
| 18但我要與你立約，你以及你的兒子、妻子和兒媳，要與你一同進入方舟。 | 18But with you I will establish my covenant; you and your sons, your wife and your sons' wives, shall go into the ark. |
| 19你要由一切有血肉的生物中，各帶一對，即一公一母，進入方舟，與你一同生活； | 19Of all other living creatures you shall bring two into the ark, one male and one female, that you may keep them alive with you. |
| 20各種飛鳥、各種牲畜、地上所有的各種爬蟲，皆取一對同你進去，得以保存生命。 | 20Of all kinds of birds, of all kinds of beasts, and of all kinds of creeping things, two of each shall come into the ark with you, to stay alive. |
| 21此外，你還應帶上各種吃用的食物，貯存起來，作你和他們的食物。」 | 21Moreover, you are to provide yourself with all the food that is to be eaten, and store it away, that it may serve as provisions for you and for them." |
| 22諾厄全照辦了；天主怎樣吩咐了他，他就怎樣做了。 | 22This Noah did; he carried out all the commands that God gave him. |
