| 1吾主上主叫我看見這事：看，有一籃熟果子。 |
1This is what the Lord GOD showed me: a basket of ripe fruit. |
| 2上主說：「亞毛斯，你看見了什麼？」我答說：「一籃熟果子。」上主又向我說：「我百姓以色列的結局已成熟，我不再放過她。 |
2"What do you see, Amos?" he asked. I answered, "A basket of ripe fruit." Then the LORD said to me: The time is ripe to have done with my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer. |
| 3在那一天，王宮中的歌女必要哀號──吾主上主的斷語──屍體成堆，拋在各處；鴉雀無聲。」 |
3The temple songs shall become wailings on that day, says the Lord GOD. Many shall be the corpses, strewn everywhere.--Silence! |
| 4壓榨窮人，使世上弱小絕跡的人哪！你們應聽。 |
4Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy the poor of the land! |
| 5你們說：「月朔幾時纔過去，好讓我們賣五穀？安息日幾時纔過去，好讓我們打開糧倉，縮小『厄法』，加重『協刻耳』，用假秤欺人？ |
5 "When will the new moon be over," you ask, "that we may sell our grain, and the sabbath, that we may display the wheat? We will diminish the ephah, add to the shekel, and fix our scales for cheating! |
| 6用銀錢購買窮人，以一雙鞋換取貧人，連麥糠也賣掉？」 |
6We will buy the lowly man for silver, and the poor man for a pair of sandals; even the refuse of the wheat we will sell!" |
| 7上主指着雅各伯的誇耀起誓說：「我永不會忘了他們的所作所為。 |
7 The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Never will I forget a thing they have done! |
| 8難道不是因此大地纔震動，地上的居民纔悲號，全地氾濫有如尼羅，退落有如埃及大河？ |
8 Shall not the land tremble because of this, and all who dwell in it mourn, While it rises up and tosses like the Nile, and settles back like the river of Egypt? |
| 9在那一天──吾主上主的斷語──我必使太陽在中午落下，使大地白晝變為黑暗； |
9On that day, says the Lord GOD, I will make the sun set at midday and cover the earth with darkness in broad daylight. |
| 10使你們的喜慶變為喪事，使你們的一切樂曲變為哀歌，使你們都腰繫苦衣，頭都剃光；使你們哀悼，如哀悼獨生子，使那一天始終是愁苦的日子。 |
10I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentations. I will cover the loins of all with sackcloth and make every head bald. I will make them mourn as for an only son, and bring their day to a bitter end. |
| 11看，那些日子一來臨──吾主上主的斷語──我必使饑餓臨於此地，不是對食物的饑餓，也不是對水的飢渴，而是對聽上主的話的饑渴。 |
11Yes, days are coming, says the Lord GOD, when I will send famine upon the land: Not a famine of bread, or thirst for water, but for hearing the word of the LORD. |
| 12他們必由這海走到那海，由北至東，去尋求上主的話，但卻尋不到。 |
12Then shall they wander from sea to sea and rove from the north to the east In search of the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it. |
| 13在那一天，美麗的處女和健壯的青年，必因飢渴而暈眩。 |
13On that day, fair virgins and young men shall faint from thirst; |
| 14那些指着撒瑪黎雅的罪過起誓，那些說：『丹，你的神永在』，或說：『貝爾舍巴，你的護守神永在』的人，必要跌倒，再不能起來。」 |
14 Those who swear by the shameful idol of Samaria, "By the life of your god, O Dan!" "By the life of your love, O Beersheba!" those shall fall, never to rise again. |
