| 1上主訓示梅瑟說： |
1Then the LORD said to Moses, |
| 2「你吩咐以色列子民轉回，在米革多耳及海之間的丕哈希洛特前，面對巴耳責豐安營，即在巴耳責豐之前，靠近海邊安營。 |
2 "Tell the Israelites to turn about and camp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. You shall camp in front of Baal-zephon, just opposite, by the sea. |
| 3如此，法郎必然以為以色列子民在國境內迷了路，曠野困住了他們。 |
3Pharaoh will then say, 'The Israelites are wandering about aimlessly in the land. The desert has closed in on them.' |
| 4我要使法郎心硬，在後追趕他們，這樣我將在法郎和他全軍身上，大顯神能，使埃及人知道我是上主。」以色列子民就照樣作了。 |
4Thus will I make Pharaoh so obstinate that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD." This the Israelites did. |
| 5有人報告埃及王說：那百姓逃走了。法郎和他的臣僕對那百姓變了心，說：「我們放走以色列人，不再給我們服役，這是作的什麼事？」 |
5When it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about them. "What have we done!" they exclaimed. "Why, we have released Israel from our service!" |
| 6法郎遂命人準備他的車，親自率領兵士， |
6So Pharaoh made his chariots ready and mustered his soldiers-- |
| 7還帶了六百輛精良戰車和埃及所有的戰車，每輛車上都有戰士駕駛。 |
7six hundred first-class chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with warriors on them all. |
| 8上主使埃及王法郎心硬，在後追趕以色列子民；當以色列子民大膽前行的時候， |
8So obstinate had the LORD made Pharaoh that he pursued the Israelites even while they were marching away in triumph. |
| 9埃及人在後追趕他們，法郎所有的車馬、騎士和步兵就在靠近丕哈希洛特，巴耳責豐對面，以色列子民安營的地方趕上了。 |
9The Egyptians, then, pursued them; Pharaoh's whole army, his horses, chariots and charioteers, caught up with them as they lay encamped by the sea, at Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon. |
| 10當法郎來近的時候，以色列子民舉目，看見埃及人趕來，都十分恐怖，向上主哀號， |
10Pharaoh was already near when the Israelites looked up and saw that the Egyptians were on the march in pursuit of them. In great fright they cried out to the LORD. |
| 11也向梅瑟說：「你帶我們死在曠野裏，難道埃及沒有墳墓嗎？你為什麼這樣待我們，將我們從埃及領出來？ |
11And they complained to Moses, "Were there no burial places in Egypt that you had to bring us out here to die in the desert? Why did you do this to us? Why did you bring us out of Egypt? |
| 12我們在埃及不是對你說過這話：不要擾亂我們，我們甘願服侍埃及人，服侍埃及人比死在曠野裏還好呀！」 |
12Did we not tell you this in Egypt, when we said, 'Leave us alone. Let us serve the Egyptians'? Far better for us to be the slaves of the Egyptians than to die in the desert." |
| 13梅瑟向百姓說：「你們不要害怕，站着別動，觀看上主今天給你們施的救恩，因為你們所見的埃及人，永遠再見不到了。 |
13But Moses answered the people, "Fear not! Stand your ground, and you will see the victory the LORD will win for you today. These Egyptians whom you see today you will never see again. |
| 14上主必替你們作戰，你們應安靜等待。」 |
14The LORD himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still." |
| 15上主向梅瑟說：「你為什麼向我哀號，吩咐以色列子民起營前行。 |
15Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to go forward. |
| 16你舉起棍杖，把你的手伸到海上，分開海水，叫以色列子民在海中乾地上走過。 |
16And you, lift up your staff and, with hand outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two, that the Israelites may pass through it on dry land. |
| 17你看，我要使埃及人的心硬，在後追趕以色列子民；這樣我好在法郎和他全軍，戰車和騎兵身上，大顯神能。 |
17But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and charioteers. |
| 18我向法郎，向他的戰車和騎兵大顯神能的時候，埃及人將會知道我是上主。」 |
18The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I receive glory through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers." |
| 19在以色列大隊前面走的天主的使者，就轉到他們後面走，雲柱也從他們前面轉到他們後面停下， |
19The angel of God, who had been leading Israel's camp, now moved and went around behind them. The column of cloud also, leaving the front, took up its place behind them, |
| 20即來到埃及軍營和以色列軍營中間；那一夜雲柱一面發黑，一面發光，這樣整夜軍隊彼此不能接近。 |
20 so that it came between the camp of the Egyptians and that of Israel. But the cloud now became dark, and thus the night passed without the rival camps coming any closer together all night long. |
| 21梅瑟向海伸手，上主就用極強的東風，一夜之間把海水颳退，使海底成為乾地。水分開以後， |
21Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD swept the sea with a strong east wind throughout the night and so turned it into dry land. When the water was thus divided, |
| 22以色列子民便在海中乾地上走過，水在他們左右好像墻壁。 |
22the Israelites marched into the midst of the sea on dry land, with the water like a wall to their right and to their left. |
| 23隨後埃及人也趕來，法郎所有的馬、戰車和騎兵，都跟着他們來到海中。 |
23The Egyptians followed in pursuit; all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and charioteers went after them right into the midst of the sea. |
| 24到了晨時末更，上主在火柱和雲柱上，窺探埃及軍隊，使埃及的軍隊混亂。 |
24In the night watch just before dawn the LORD cast through the column of the fiery cloud upon the Egyptian force a glance that threw it into a panic; |
| 25又使他們的車輪脫落，難以行走，以致埃及人說：「我們由以色列人前逃走罷！因為上主替他們作戰，攻擊埃及人。」 |
25and he so clogged their chariot wheels that they could hardly drive. With that the Egyptians sounded the retreat before Israel, because the LORD was fighting for them against the Egyptians. |
| 26上主對梅瑟說：「向海伸出你的手，使水回流到埃及人、他們的戰車和騎兵身上。」 |
26Then the LORD told Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may flow back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and their charioteers." |
| 27到了天亮，梅瑟向海伸手，海水流回原處；埃及人迎着水逃跑的時候，上主將他們投入海中。 |
27So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at dawn the sea flowed back to its normal depth. The Egyptians were fleeing head on toward the sea, when the LORD hurled them into its midst. |
| 28回流的水淹沒了法郎的戰車、騎兵和跟着以色列子民來到海中的法郎軍隊，一個人也沒有留下。 |
28As the water flowed back, it covered the chariots and the charioteers of Pharaoh's whole army which had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not a single one of them escaped. |
| 29但是以色列子民在海中乾地上走過去，水在他們左右好像牆壁。 |
29But the Israelites had marched on dry land through the midst of the sea, with the water like a wall to their right and to their left. |
| 30這樣上主在那一天從埃及人手中拯救了以色列人。以色列人看見了埃及人的屍首浮在海邊上。 |
30Thus the LORD saved Israel on that day from the power of the Egyptians. When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashore |
| 31以色列人見上主向埃及人顯示的大能，百姓都敬畏上主，信了上主和他的僕人梅瑟。 |
31and beheld the great power that the LORD had shown against the Egyptians, they feared the LORD and believed in him and in his servant Moses. |
