| 1那時，分封侯黑落德聽到耶穌的名聲， |
1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the reputation of Jesus |
| 2就對他的臣僕說：「這是洗者若翰，他由死者中復活了；為此，這些奇能纔在他身上運行。」 |
2and said to his servants, "This man is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why mighty powers are at work in him." |
| 3原來，黑落德為了他兄弟斐理伯的妻子黑落狄雅的原故，逮捕了若翰，把他囚在監裏， |
3Now Herod had arrested John, bound (him), and put him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, |
| 4因為若翰曾給他說：「你不可佔有這個女人！」 |
4for John had said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." |
| 5黑落德本有意殺他，但害怕群眾，因為他們都以若翰為先知。 |
5Although he wanted to kill him, he feared the people, for they regarded him as a prophet. |
| 6到了黑落德的生日，黑落狄雅的女兒，在席間跳舞，中悅了黑落德； |
6But at a birthday celebration for Herod, the daughter of Herodias performed a dance before the guests and delighted Herod |
| 7為此，黑落德發誓許下，她無論求什麼，都要給她。 |
7so much that he swore to give her whatever she might ask for. |
| 8她受了她母親的唆使後，就說：「請就地把若翰的頭放在盤子裏給我！」 |
8Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist." |
| 9王十分憂鬱，但為了誓言和同席的人，就下令給她。 |
9The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests who were present, he ordered that it be given, |
| 10遂差人在監裏斬了若翰的頭， |
10and he had John beheaded in the prison. |
| 11把頭放在盤子裏拿來，給了女孩；女孩便拿去給了她母親。 |
11His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who took it to her mother. |
| 12若翰的門徒前來，領了屍身，埋葬了，然後去報告給耶穌。 |
12His disciples came and took away the corpse and buried him; and they went and told Jesus. |
| 13耶穌一聽說這消息，就從那裏上船，私下退到荒野地方；群眾聽說了，就從各城裏步行跟了他去。 |
13 When Jesus heard of it, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns. |
| 14他一下船，看見一大夥群眾，便對他們動了憐憫的心，治好了他們的病人。 |
14When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick. |
| 15到了傍晚，門徒到他跟前說：「這地方是荒野，時候已不早了，請你遣散群眾罷！叫他們各自到村莊去買食物。」 |
15When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said, "This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves." |
| 16耶穌卻對他們說：「他們不必去，你們給他們吃的罷！」 |
16(Jesus) said to them, "There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves." |
| 17門徒對他說：「我們這裏什麼也沒有，只有五個餅和兩條魚。」 |
17But they said to him, "Five loaves and two fish are all we have here." |
| 18耶穌說：「你們給我拿到這裏來！」 |
18Then he said, "Bring them here to me," |
| 19遂又吩咐群眾坐在草地上，然後拿起那五個餅和兩條魚，望天祝福了；把餅擘開，遞給門徒，門徒再分給群眾。 |
19and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. |
| 20眾人吃了，也都飽了；然後他們把剩餘的碎塊收了滿滿十二筐。 |
20They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the fragments left over --twelve wicker baskets full. |
| 21吃的人數，除了婦女和小孩外，約有五千。 |
21Those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting women and children. |
| 22耶穌即刻催迫門徒上船，在他以先到對岸去；這其間，他遣散了群眾。 |
22 Then he made the disciples get into the boat and precede him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. |
| 23耶穌遣散了群眾以後，便私自上山祈禱去了。到了夜晚，他獨自一人在那裏。 |
23After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone. |
| 24船已離岸幾里了，受着波浪的顛簸，因為吹的是逆風。 |
24Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it. |
| 25夜間四更時分，耶穌步行海上，朝着他們走來。 |
25During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea. |
| 26門徒看見他在海上行走，就驚駭說：「是個妖怪。」並且嚇得大叫起來。 |
26When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. "It is a ghost," they said, and they cried out in fear. |
| 27耶穌立即向他們說道：「放心！是我。不必害怕！」 |
27At once (Jesus) spoke to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." |
| 28伯多祿回答說：「主，如果是你，就叫我在水面上步行到你那裏罷！」 |
28Peter said to him in reply, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." |
| 29耶穌說：「來罷！」伯多祿遂從船上下來，走在水面上，往耶穌那裏去。 |
29He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. |
| 30但他一見風勢很強，就害怕起來，並開始下沉，遂大叫說：「主，救我罷！」 |
30But when he saw how (strong) the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" |
| 31耶穌立刻伸手拉住他，對他說：「小信德的人哪！你為什麼懷疑？」 |
31Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" |
| 32他們一上了船，風就停了。 |
32After they got into the boat, the wind died down. |
| 33船上的人便朝拜他說：「你真是天主子。」 |
33 Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God." |
| 34他們渡到對岸，來到革乃撒勒地方。 |
34After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret. |
| 35那地方的人一認出是耶穌，就打發人到周圍整個地方，把一切患病的人，都帶到耶穌跟前， |
35When the men of that place recognized him, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought to him all those who were sick |
| 36求耶穌讓他們只摸摸他的衣邊；凡摸着的，就痊癒了。 |
36and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak, and as many as touched it were healed. |
