| 1法利塞人和撒杜塞人，為試探耶穌，前來求他給他們顯一個來自天上的徵兆。 |
1 The Pharisees and Sadducees came and, to test him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven. |
| 2耶穌回答他們說：「到了晚上，你們說：天色發紅，必要放晴。 |
2 He said to them in reply, "(In the evening you say, 'Tomorrow will be fair, for the sky is red'; |
| 3早上，天色又紅又黑，你們說：今日必有風雨；你們知道辨別天象，卻不能辨別時期的徵兆。 |
3and, in the morning, 'Today will be stormy, for the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you cannot judge the signs of the times.) |
| 4邪惡淫亂的世代要求徵兆，但除了約納先知的徵兆外，必不給它其他的徵兆。」耶穌遂離開他們走了。 |
4An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Then he left them and went away. |
| 5門徒往對岸去的時候，忘了帶餅： |
5In coming to the other side of the sea, the disciples had forgotten to bring bread. |
| 6耶穌就對他們說：「你們應當謹慎防備法利塞人和撒杜塞人的酵母。」 |
6Jesus said to them, "Look out, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." |
| 7他們便彼此議論說：「因為我們沒有帶餅罷！」 |
7 They concluded among themselves, saying, "It is because we have brought no bread." |
| 8耶穌知道了就說：「小信德的人！你們為什麼竟彼此議論你們沒有帶餅呢？ |
8When Jesus became aware of this he said, "You of little faith, why do you conclude among yourselves that it is because you have no bread? |
| 9你們還不明白嗎？你們不記得五個餅分給五千人，你們收拾了幾筐？ |
9Do you not yet understand, and do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many wicker baskets you took up? |
| 10七個餅分給四千人，你們又收拾了幾籃？ |
10Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up? |
| 11怎麼你們不明白，我不是指着餅向你們說的呢？你們應當防備法利塞人和撒杜塞人的酵母！」 |
11How do you not comprehend that I was not speaking to you about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." |
| 12他們這纔明白耶穌不是說防備餅的酵母，而是說防備法利塞人和撒杜塞人的教訓。 |
12Then they understood that he was not telling them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. |
| 13耶穌來到了斐理伯的凱撒勒雅境內，就問門徒說：「人們說人子是誰？」 |
13 When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" |
| 14他們說：「有人說是洗者若翰；有人說是厄里亞；也有人說是耶肋米亞，或先知中的一位。」 |
14They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." |
| 15耶穌對他們說：「你們說我是誰？」 |
15He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" |
| 16西滿伯多祿回答說：「你是默西亞，永生天主之子。」 |
16 Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." |
| 17耶穌回答他說：「約納的兒子西滿，你是有福的，因為不是肉和血啟示了你，而是我在天之父。 |
17Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. |
| 18我再給你說：你是伯多祿（磐石），在這磐石上，我要建立我的教會，陰間的門決不能戰勝她。 |
18And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. |
| 19我要將天國的鑰匙交給你；凡你在地上所束縛的，在天上也要被束縛；凡你在地上所釋放的，在天上也要被釋放。」 |
19I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." |
| 20他遂即嚴禁門徒，不要對任何人說他是默西亞。 |
20 Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Messiah. |
| 21從那時起，耶穌就開紿向門徒說明：他必須上耶路撒冷去，要由長老、司祭長和經師們受到許多痛苦，並將被殺，但第三天要復活。 |
21 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised. |
| 22伯多祿便拉耶穌到一邊，諫責他說：「主，千萬不可！這事絕不會臨到你身上！」 |
22 Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, "God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you." |
| 23耶穌轉身對伯多祿說：「撒殫，退到我後面去！你是我的絆腳石，因為你所體會的，不是天主的事，而是人的事。」 |
23He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do." |
| 24於是，耶穌對門徒說：「誰若願意跟隨我，該棄絕自己，背着自己的十字架來跟隨我， |
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. |
| 25因為誰若願意救自己的性命，必要喪失性命；但誰若為我的原故，喪失自己的性命，必要獲得性命。 |
25For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. |
| 26人縱然賺得了全世界，卻賠上了自己的靈魂，為他有什麼益處？或者，人還能拿什麼作為自己靈魂的代價？ |
26What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life? |
| 27因為將來人子要在他父的光榮中同他的天使降來，那時，他要按照每人的行為予以賞報。 |
27 For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct. |
| 28我實在告訴你們：站在這裏的人中，就有些人在未嘗到死味以前，必要看見人子來到自己的國內。」 |
28 Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." |
