| 1耶穌又在海邊上開始施教，有大夥群眾聚集在他跟前，他只得上了一隻船，在海上坐着，所有的群眾都在海邊地上。 |
1 On another occasion he began to teach by the sea. A very large crowd gathered around him so that he got into a boat on the sea and sat down. And the whole crowd was beside the sea on land. |
| 2他用比喻教訓他們許多事，在施教時，他向他們說： |
2And he taught them at length in parables, and in the course of his instruction he said to them, |
| 3「你們聽：有個撒種的出去撒種。 |
3 "Hear this! A sower went out to sow. |
| 4他撒種的時候，有的落在路旁，飛鳥來把它吃了； |
4And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. |
| 5有的落在石頭地裏，那裏沒有多少土壤，即刻發了芽，因為所有的土壤不深， |
5Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep. |
| 6太陽一出來，被曬焦了；又因為沒有根，就乾枯了； |
6And when the sun rose, it was scorched and it withered for lack of roots. |
| 7有的落在荊棘中，荊棘長起來，把它窒息了，就沒有結實； |
7Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it and it produced no grain. |
| 8有的落在好地裏，就長大成熟，結了果實，有的結三十倍，有的六十倍，有的一百倍。」 |
8And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit. It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold." |
| 9他又說：「有耳聽的，聽罷！」 |
9He added, "Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear." |
| 10當耶穌獨自一人的時候，那些跟從他的人和十二門徒便問他這些比喻的意義。 |
10And when he was alone, those present along with the Twelve questioned him about the parables. |
| 11耶穌對他們說：「天主國的奧義只賞給了你們，但對那些外人，一切都用比喻， |
11 He answered them, "The mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables, |
| 12使他們看是看，卻看不見；聽是聽，卻聽不明白，免得他們回頭，而得赦免。」 |
12so that 'they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.'" |
| 13耶穌對他們說：「你們不明白這個比喻，又怎能明白其他的一切比喻呢？ |
13 Jesus said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of the parables? |
| 14那撒種的人撒的，是所講的『話』。 |
14The sower sows the word. |
| 15那撒在路旁的『話』是指人聽了後，撒殫立時來，把撒在他們心裏的『話』奪了去。 |
15These are the ones on the path where the word is sown. As soon as they hear, Satan comes at once and takes away the word sown in them. |
| 16同樣，那撒在石頭地裏的，是指人聽了這『話』後，立刻欣然接受； |
16And these are the ones sown on rocky ground who, when they hear the word, receive it at once with joy. |
| 17但他們心裏沒有根，不能持久，及至為了這『話』發生艱難或迫害，立刻就跌倒了。 |
17But they have no root; they last only for a time. Then when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. |
| 18還有那撒在荊棘中的，是指人聽了這『話』後， |
18Those sown among thorns are another sort. They are the people who hear the word, |
| 19世俗的焦慮，財富的迷惑，以及其他的貪慾進來，把『話』蒙住了，結不出果實。 |
19but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit. |
| 20那撒在好地裏的，是指人聽了這『話』，就接受了，並結了果實，有的三十倍，有的六十倍，有的一百倍。」 |
20But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold." |
| 21耶穌又向他們說：「人拿燈來，豈是為放在斗底或床下嗎？不是為放在燈台上嗎？ |
21He said to them, "Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? |
| 22因為沒有什麼隱藏的事，不是為顯露出來的；也沒有隱密的事，不是為彰明出來的。 |
22For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light. |
| 23誰若有耳聽，聽罷！」 |
23Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear." |
| 24耶穌又向他們說：「要留心你們所聽的：你們用什麼尺度量給人，也要用什麼尺度量給你們，且要多加給你們， |
24He also told them, "Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you. |
| 25因為凡有的，還要給他；凡沒有的，連他所有的，也要從他奪去。」 |
25To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away." |
| 26他又說：「天主的國好比一個人把種子撒在地裏， |
26He said,"This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land |
| 27他黑夜白天，或睡或起，那種子發芽生長，至於怎樣，他卻不知道， |
27and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. |
| 28因為土地自然生長果實：先發苗，後吐穗，最後穗上滿了麥粒。 |
28Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. |
| 29當果實成熟的時候，便立刻派人以鎌刀收割，因為到了收穫的時期。」 |
29And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come." |
| 30他又說：「我們以什麼比擬天主的國呢？或用什麼比喻來形容它呢？ |
30He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? |
| 31它好像一粒芥子，種在地裏的時候，比地上一切的種子都小； |
31It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. |
| 32當下種之後，生長起來，比一切蔬菜都大；並且長出大枝，以致天上的飛鳥能棲息在它的蔭下。」 |
32 But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade." |
| 33耶穌用許多這樣的比喻，按照他們所能聽懂的，給他們講道。 |
33With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it. |
| 34若不用比喻，他就不給他們講什麼，但私下裏卻給自己的門徒解釋一切。 |
34Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private. |
| 35在當天晚上，耶穌對門徒說：「我們渡海到對岸去罷！」 |
35 On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, "Let us cross to the other side." |
| 36他們遂離開群眾，就照他在船上的原狀，帶他走了；與他一起的還有別的小船。 |
36Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. |
| 37忽然，狂風大作，波浪打進船內，以致小船已滿了水。 |
37A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. |
| 38耶穌卻在船尾依枕而睡。他們叫醒他，給他說：「師傅！我們要喪亡了，你不管嗎？」 |
38Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" |
| 39耶穌醒來，叱責了風，並向海說：「不要作聲，平定了罷！」風就停止了，遂大為平靜。 |
39He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!" The wind ceased and there was great calm. |
| 40耶穌對他們說：「為什麼你們這樣膽怯？你們怎麼還沒有信德呢？」 |
40Then he asked them, "Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?" |
| 41他們非常驚懼，彼此說：「這人到底是誰？連風和海也聽從他！」 |
41 They were filled with great awe and said to one another, "Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?" |
