| 1當那些日子，又有一大群人，沒有什麼吃的了。耶穌叫過門徒來，給他們說： |
1 In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat, he summoned the disciples and said, |
| 2「我很憐憫這批群眾，因為他們同我在一起已經三天，也沒有什麼可吃的了。 |
2"My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. |
| 3我若遣散他們空着肚子各自回家，他們必要在路上暈倒；況且他們中還有些是從遠處來的。」 |
3If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a great distance." |
| 4門徒回答說：「在這荒野裏，人從那裏能得餅，使這些人吃飽呢？」 |
4His disciples answered him, "Where can anyone get enough bread to satisfy them here in this deserted place?" |
| 5耶穌問他們說：「你們有多少餅？」他們說：「七個。」 |
5Still he asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" "Seven," they replied. |
| 6耶穌就吩咐群眾坐在地上，拿起那七個餅來，祝謝了，擘開，遞給他的門徒，叫他們分開；他們就給群眾分開。 |
6 He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute, and they distributed them to the crowd. |
| 7又有幾條小魚，耶穌祝福後，也吩咐把這些小魚分開。 |
7They also had a few fish. He said the blessing over them and ordered them distributed also. |
| 8人都吃飽了，把剩下來的碎塊收集了七籃子。 |
8They ate and were satisfied. They picked up the fragments left over--seven baskets. |
| 9人數約有四千；然後耶穌遣散了他們， |
9There were about four thousand people. He dismissed them |
| 10即刻同門徒上船，來到了達瑪奴達境內。 |
10and got into the boat with his disciples and came to the region of Dalmanutha. |
| 11法利塞人出來，開始和他辯論，向他要求一個來自天上的徵兆，想試探他。 |
11 The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. |
| 12耶穌從心裏歎息說：「為什麼這一世代要求徵兆？我實在告訴你們，必不給這世代一個徵兆！」 |
12He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation." |
| 13他就離開他們，再上船往對岸去了。 |
13Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore. |
| 14門徒忘了帶餅，在船上除了一個餅外，隨身沒有帶別的食物。 |
14They had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. |
| 15耶穌囑咐他們說：「你們應當謹慎，提防法利塞人的酵母和黑落德的酵母。」 |
15 He enjoined them, "Watch out, guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod." |
| 16他們彼此議論：他們沒有餅了。 |
16They concluded among themselves that it was because they had no bread. |
| 17耶穌看出來了，就對他們說：「為什麼你們議論沒有餅了？你們還不明白，還不瞭解嗎？你們的心仍然遲鈍嗎？ |
17When he became aware of this he said to them, "Why do you conclude that it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Are your hearts hardened? |
| 18你們有眼看不見，有耳聽不見嗎？你們不記得： |
18Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear? And do you not remember, |
| 19當我擘開五個餅給五千人的時候，你們收滿了幾筐碎塊？」他們回答說：「十二筐。」 |
19when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many wicker baskets full of fragments you picked up?" They answered him, "Twelve." |
| 20「還有，七個餅給四千人的時候，你們收滿了幾籃碎塊？」他們回答說：「七籃。」 |
20"When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many full baskets of fragments did you pick up?" They answered (him), "Seven." |
| 21於是耶穌對他們說：「你們還不瞭解嗎？」 |
21He said to them, "Do you still not understand?" |
| 22他們來到貝特賽達，有人給耶穌送來一個瞎子，求他撫摸他。 |
22 When they arrived at Bethsaida, they brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. |
| 23耶穌便拉着瞎子的手，領他到村外，在他的眼上吐了唾沬，然後又給他覆手，問他說：「你看見什麼沒有？」 |
23He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on him and asked, "Do you see anything?" |
| 24他舉目一望，說：「我看見人，見他們好像樹木在行走。」 |
24Looking up he replied, "I see people looking like trees and walking." |
| 25然後，耶穌又按手在他的眼上，他定睛一看，就復了原，竟能清清楚楚看見一切。 |
25Then he laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly. |
| 26耶穌打發他回家去說：「連這村莊你也不要進去。」 |
26Then he sent him home and said, "Do not even go into the village." |
| 27耶穌和他的門徒起身，往斐理伯的凱撒勒雅附近的村莊去；在路上問自己的門徒說：「人們說我是誰？」 |
27 Now Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Along the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" |
| 28他們回答說：「是洗者若翰；也有些人說是厄里亞；還有些人說是先知中的一位。」 |
28They said in reply, "John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the prophets." |
| 29耶穌又問他們說：「你們說我是誰呢？」伯多祿回答說：「你是默西亞。」 |
29And he asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said to him in reply, "You are the Messiah." |
| 30耶穌就嚴禁他們，不要向任何人談及他。 |
30Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. |
| 31耶穌便開始教訓他們：人子必須受許多苦，被長老、司祭長和經師棄絕，且要被殺害；但三天以後必要復活。 |
31He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise after three days. |
| 32耶穌明明說了這話。伯多祿便拉他到一邊，開始諫責他。 |
32He spoke this openly. Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. |
| 33耶穌卻轉過身來，注視着自己的門徒，責斥伯多祿說：「撒殫，退到我後面去！因為你所體會的，不是天主的事，而是人的事。」 |
33At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do." |
| 34他遂召集群眾和門徒來，對他們說：「誰若願意跟隨我，該棄絕自己，背着自己的十字架，跟隨我， |
34He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them, "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. |
| 35因為誰若願意救自己的性命，必要喪失性命；但誰若為我和福音的原故，喪失自己的性命，必要救得性命。 |
35For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it. |
| 36人縱然賺得了全世界而賠上自己的靈魂，為他有什麼益處？ |
36What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? |
| 37人還能拿什麼作為自己靈魂的代價？ |
37What could one give in exchange for his life? |
| 38誰若在這淫亂和罪惡的世代中，以我和我的話為恥，將來人子在他父的光榮中，同諸聖天使降來時，也要以他為恥。」 |
38Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." |
