| 1在逾越節慶日前，耶穌知道他離此世歸父的時辰已到，他既然愛了世上屬於自己的人，就愛他們到底。 |
1 Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end. |
| 2正吃晚餐的時候──魔鬼已使依斯加略人西滿的兒子猶達斯決意出賣耶穌── |
2The devil had already induced Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, to hand him over. So, during supper, |
| 3耶穌因知道父把一切已交在他手中，也知道自己是從天主來的，又要往天主那裡去， |
3fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God, |
| 4就從席間起來，脫下外衣，拿起一條手巾束在腰間， |
4he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist. |
| 5然後把水倒在盆裡，開始洗門徒的腳，用束着的手巾擦乾。 |
5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. |
| 6及至來到西滿伯多祿跟前，伯多祿對他說：「主！你給我洗腳嗎？」 |
6He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Master, are you going to wash my feet?" |
| 7耶穌回答說：「我所做的，你現在還不明白，但以後你會明白。」 |
7Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later." |
| 8伯多祿對他說：「不，你永遠不可給我洗腳！」耶穌回答說：「我若不洗你，你就與我無分。」 |
8Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me." |
| 9西滿伯多祿遂說：「主！不但我的腳，而且連手帶頭，都給我洗罷！」 |
9Simon Peter said to him, "Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well." |
| 10耶穌向他說：「沐浴過的人，已全身清潔，只需洗腳就夠了。你們原是潔淨的，但不都是。」 |
10Jesus said to him, "Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all." |
| 11原來，耶穌知道誰要出賣他，為此說：你們不都是潔淨的。 |
11For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, "Not all of you are clean." |
| 12及至耶穌洗完了他們的腳，穿上外衣，又去坐下，對他們說：「你們明白我給你們所做的嗎？ |
12So when he had washed their feet (and) put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, "Do you realize what I have done for you? |
| 13你們稱我『師傅』、『主子』，說得正對：我原來是。 |
13You call me 'teacher' and 'master,' and rightly so, for indeed I am. |
| 14若我為主子，為師傅的，給你們洗腳，你們也該彼此洗腳； |
14If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. |
| 15我給你們立了榜樣，叫你們也照我給你們所做的去做。 |
15I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. |
| 16我實實在在告訴你們：沒有僕人大過主人的，也沒有奉使的大過派遣他的。 |
16Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. |
| 17你們既知道了這些事，如果實行，便是有福的。 |
17If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. |
| 18我不是說你們全體，我認識我所揀選的；但經上所記載的必須應驗：『吃過我飯的人，也舉腳踢我。』 |
18I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the scripture might be fulfilled, 'The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.' |
| 19就在現在，事未發生以前，我告訴你們，好叫事發生以後，你們相信我就是那一位。 |
19From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM. |
| 20我實實在在告訴你們：凡接待我所派遣的，就是接待我；接待我的，就是接待那派遣我來的。」 |
20Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me." |
| 21耶穌說了這些話，心神煩亂，就明明地說：「我實實在在告訴你們：你們中有一個要出賣我。」 |
21When he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, "Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." |
| 22門徒便互相觀望，猜疑他說的是誰。 |
22The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant. |
| 23他門徒中有一個是耶穌所愛的，他那時斜依在耶穌的懷裡， |
23One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus' side. |
| 24西滿伯多祿就向他示意說：「你問他說的是誰？」 |
24So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant. |
| 25那位就緊靠在耶穌的胸膛上，問他說：「主！是誰？」 |
25He leaned back against Jesus' chest and said to him, "Master, who is it?" |
| 26耶穌答覆說：「我蘸這片餅遞給誰，誰就是。」耶穌就蘸了一片餅，遞給依斯加略人西滿的兒子猶達斯。 |
26Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it." So he dipped the morsel and (took it and) handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. |
| 27隨着那片餅，撒殫進入了他的心，於是耶穌對他說：「你所要做的，你快去做罷！」 |
27After he took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly." |
| 28同席的人誰也沒有明白耶穌為什麼向他說了這話。 |
28(Now) none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him. |
| 29不過，有人因為猶達斯掌管錢囊，以為耶穌是給他說：「你去買我們過節所需要的」，或者，要他給窮人施捨一些東西。 |
29Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him, "Buy what we need for the feast," or to give something to the poor. |
| 30猶達斯一吃了那一片餅，就立時出去了：那時，正是黑夜。 |
30So he took the morsel and left at once. And it was night. |
| 31猶達斯出去以後，耶穌就說：「現在人子受到了光榮，天主也在人子身上受到了光榮。 |
31 When he had left, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. |
| 32天主既然在人子身上得到了光榮，天主也要在自己內使人子得到光榮，並且立時就要光榮他。 |
32(If God is glorified in him,) God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once. |
| 33孩子們！我同你們在一起的時候不多了；以後你們要尋找我，就如我曾向猶太人說過：我所去的地方，你們不能去；現在我也給你們說。 |
33My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, 'Where I go you cannot come,' so now I say it to you. |
| 34我給你們一條新命令：你們該彼此相愛；如同我愛了你們，你們也該照樣彼此相愛。 |
34I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. |
| 35如果你們之間彼此相親相愛，世人因此就可認出你們是我的門徒。」 |
35This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." |
| 36西滿伯多祿問耶穌說：「主！你往那裡去？」耶穌回答說：「我所去的地方，你如今不能跟我去，但後來卻要跟我去。」 |
36Simon Peter said to him, "Master, where are you going?" Jesus answered (him), "Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, though you will follow later." |
| 37伯多祿向他說：「主！為什麼現在我不能跟你去？我要為你捨掉我的性命！」 |
37Peter said to him, "Master, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." |
| 38耶穌答覆說：「你要為我捨掉你的性命嗎？我實實在在告訴你：雞未叫以前，你要三次不認我。」 |
38Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times." |
