| 1「我給你們講論了這些事，免得你們的信仰受動搖。 |
1"I have told you this so that you may not fall away. |
| 2人要把你們逐出會堂；並且時候必到，凡殺害你們的，還以為是盡恭敬天主的義務。 |
2They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. |
| 3他們這樣作，是因為沒有認識父，也沒有認識我。 |
3They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. |
| 4我給你們講論了這一切，是為叫你們在這一切發生時，想起我早就告訴了你們這一切。這些事起初我沒有告訴你們，因為我還與你們同在。」 |
4I have told you this so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you. "I did not tell you this from the beginning, because I was with you. |
| 5「現在我就往派遣我者那裏去，你們中卻沒有人問我：你往那裏去？ |
5But now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' |
| 6只因我給你們說了這話，你們就滿心憂悶。 |
6But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. |
| 7然而，我將真情告訴你們：我去為你們有益，因為我若不去，護慰者便不會到你們這裏來；我若去了，就要派遣他到你們這裏來。 |
7But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. |
| 8當他來到時，就要指證世界關於罪惡、正義和審判所犯的錯誤： |
8 And when he comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: |
| 9關於罪惡，因為他們沒有信從我； |
9sin, because they do not believe in me; |
| 10關於正義，因為我往父那裏去，而你們再見不到我； |
10righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; |
| 11關於審判，因為這世界的首領已被判斷了。 |
11condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. |
| 12我本來還有許多事要告訴你們，然而你們現在不能擔負。 |
12"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. |
| 13當那一位真理之神來時，他要把你們引入一切真理，因為他不憑自己講論，只把他所聽到的講出來，並把未來的事傳告給你們。 |
13 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. |
| 14他要光榮我，因為他要把由我所領受的，傳告給你們。 |
14He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. |
| 15凡父所有的一切，都是我的；為此我說：他要由我領受而傳告給你們。」 |
15Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. |
| 16「只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我。」 |
16"A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me." |
| 17於是他門徒中有幾個彼此說：「他給我們所說的：『只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我。』還有『我往父那裏去』，是什麼意思？」 |
17So some of his disciples said to one another, "What does this mean that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?" |
| 18又說：「他說的這『只有片時』，究竟有什麼意思？我們不明白他講什麼。」 |
18So they said, "What is this 'little while' (of which he speaks)? We do not know what he means." |
| 19耶穌看出他們願意問他，就對他們說：「你們不是彼此詢問我所說的：『只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我』的話嗎？ |
19Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing with one another what I said, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? |
| 20我實實在在告訴你們：你們要痛哭，哀號，世界卻要歡樂；你們將要憂愁，但你們的憂愁卻要變為喜樂。 |
20Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. |
| 21婦女生產的時候，感到憂苦，因為她的時辰來到了；既生了孩子，因了喜樂再不記憶那苦楚了，因為一個人已生在世上了。 |
21When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. |
| 22如今，你們固然感到憂愁，但我要再見到你們，那時，你們心裏要喜樂，並且你們的喜樂誰也不能從你們奪去。 |
22So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. |
| 23到那一天，你們什麼也不必問我了。我實實在在告訴你們：你們因我的名無論向父求什麼，他必賜給你們。 |
23On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. |
| 24直到現在，你們沒有因我的名求什麼；求罷！必會得到，好使你們的喜樂得以圓滿。」 |
24Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. |
| 25「我用比喻對你們講了這一切；但時候來到，我不再用比喻對你們說話，而要明明地向你們傳報有關父的一切。 |
25 "I have told you this in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but I will tell you clearly about the Father. |
| 26在那一天，你們要因我的名祈求，我不向你們說：我要為你們求父， |
26On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you. |
| 27因為父自己愛你們，因你們愛了我，且相信我出自天主。 |
27For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God. |
| 28我出自父，來到了世界上；我又離開世界，往父那裏去。」 |
28I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father." |
| 29他的門徒便說：「看，現在你明明地講論，不用什麼比喻了。 |
29His disciples said, "Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech. |
| 30現在，我們曉得你知道一切，不需要有人問你；因此，我們相信你是出自天主。」 |
30Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God." |
| 31耶穌回答說：「現在你們相信嗎？ |
31Jesus answered them, "Do you believe now? |
| 32看，時辰要來，且已來到，你們要被驅散，各人歸各人的地方去，撇下我獨自一個，其實我並不是獨自一個，因為有父與我同在。 |
32Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. |
| 33我給你們講了這一切，是要你們在我內得到平安。在世界上你們要受苦難；然而你們放心，我已戰勝了世界。」 |
33I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world." |
