| 1耶穌上了橄欖山。 |
1while Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. |
| 2清晨他又來到聖殿，眾百姓都到他跟前來，他便坐下教訓他們。 |
2But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to him, and he sat down and taught them. |
| 3那時，經師和法利塞人帶來了一個犯姦淫時被捉住的婦人，叫她站在中間， |
3Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made her stand in the middle. |
| 4便向耶穌說：「師傅！這婦人是正在犯姦淫時被捉住的， |
4They said to him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. |
| 5在法律上，梅瑟命令我們該用石頭砸死這樣的婦人；可是，你說什麼呢？」 |
5Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?" |
| 6他們說這話，是要試探耶穌，好能控告他；耶穌卻彎下身去，用指頭在地上畫字。 |
6They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. |
| 7因為他們不斷地追問，他便直起身來，向他們說：「你們中間誰沒有罪，先向她投石罷！」 |
7 But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." |
| 8他又彎下身去，在地上寫字。 |
8Again he bent down and wrote on the ground. |
| 9他們一聽這話，就從年老的開始到年幼的，一個一個地都溜走了，只留下耶穌一人和站在那裏的婦人。 |
9And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him. |
| 10耶穌遂直起身來向她說：「婦人！他們在那裏呢？沒有人定你的罪嗎？」 |
10Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" |
| 11她說：「主！沒有人。」耶穌向她說：「我也不定你的罪；去罷！從今以後，不要再犯罪了！」 |
11She replied, "No one, sir." Then Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, (and) from now on do not sin any more." |
| 12耶穌又向眾人講說：「我是世界的光；跟隨我的，決不在黑暗中行走，必有生命的光。」 |
12 Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." |
| 13法利塞人於是對他說：「你為你自己作證，你的證據，是不可憑信的。」 |
13So the Pharisees said to him, "You testify on your own behalf, so your testimony cannot be verified." |
| 14耶穌回答說：「我即便為我自己作證，我的證據，是可憑信的，因為我知道：我從那裏來，往那裏去；你們卻不知道：我從那裏來，或往那裏去。 |
14Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I do testify on my own behalf, my testimony can be verified, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going. |
| 15你們只憑肉眼判斷，我卻不判斷任何人； |
15You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone. |
| 16即使我判斷，我的判斷，仍是真實的，因為我不是獨自一個，而是有我，還有派遣我來的父。 |
16And even if I should judge, my judgment is valid, because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me. |
| 17在你們的法律上也記載着：兩個人的作證，是可憑信的。 |
17Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two men can be verified. |
| 18今有我為我自己作證，也有派遣我的父，為我作證。」 |
18I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me." |
| 19他們便問他說：「你的父在那裏？」耶穌答覆說：「你們不認識我，也不認識我的父；若是你們認識了我，也就認識我的父了。」 |
19So they said to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also." |
| 20這些話是耶穌於聖殿施教時，在銀庫院裏所講的。誰也沒有捉拿他，因為他的時辰還沒有到。 |
20He spoke these words while teaching in the treasury in the temple area. But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. |
| 21那時，耶穌又向他們說：「我去了，你們要尋找我，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中；我所去的地方，你們不能去。」 |
21 He said to them again, "I am going away and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going you cannot come." |
| 22猶太人便說：「他說：我所去的地方，你們不能去；莫非他要自殺嗎？」 |
22 So the Jews said, "He is not going to kill himself, is he, because he said, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?" |
| 23耶穌向他們說：「你們是出於下，我卻是出於上；你們是出於這個世界，我卻不是出於這個世界。 |
23He said to them, "You belong to what is below, I belong to what is above. You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world. |
| 24因此，我對你們說過：你們要死在你們的罪惡中。的確，你們若不相信我就是那一位，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中。」 |
24That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins." |
| 25於是，他們問耶穌說：「你到底是誰？」耶穌回答他們說：「難道從起初我沒有對你們講論過嗎？ |
25 So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning. |
| 26對你們我有許多事要說，要譴責；但是派遣我來者是真實的；我由他聽來的，我就講給世界聽。」 |
26I have much to say about you in condemnation. But the one who sent me is true, and what I heard from him I tell the world." |
| 27他們不明白他是在給他們講論父。 |
27They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father. |
| 28耶穌遂說：「當你們高舉了人子以後，你們便知道我就是那一位。我由我自己不作什麼；我所講論的，都是依照父所教訓我的。 |
28So Jesus said (to them), "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. |
| 29派遣我來者與我在一起，他沒有留下我獨自一個，因為我常作他所喜悅的事。」 |
29The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him." |
| 30當耶穌講這些話時，許多人便信了他。 |
30Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him. |
| 31於是，耶穌對那些信他的猶太人說：「你們如果固守我的話，就確是我的門徒， |
31 Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, |
| 32也會認識真理，而真理必會使你們獲得自由。」 |
32and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." |
| 33他們回答說：「我們是亞巴郎的後裔，從未給任何人做過奴隸；怎麼你說：你們要成為自由的呢？」 |
33They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become free'?" |
| 34耶穌答覆說：「我實實在在告訴你們：凡是犯罪的，就是罪惡的奴隸。 |
34Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. |
| 35奴隸不能永遠住在家裏，兒子卻永遠居住。 |
35A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. |
| 36那麼，如果天主子使你們自由了，你們的確是自由的。 |
36So if a son frees you, then you will truly be free. |
| 37我知道你們是亞巴郎的後裔，你們卻圖謀殺害我，因為你們容納不下我的話。 |
37I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you. |
| 38我說的，是我在父那裏所看見的；而你們行的，卻是從你們的父親那裏所學習的。」 |
38 I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the Father." |
| 39他們回答說：「我們的父親亞巴郎。」耶穌對他們說：「假如你們是亞巴郎的子女，你們就該作亞巴郎所作的事。 |
39 They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. |
| 40如今，你們竟然圖謀殺害我──這個給你們說出從天主那裏所聽到的真理的人──亞巴郎卻沒有作過這樣的事。 |
40But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God; Abraham did not do this. |
| 41你們正作你們父親的事業。」他們向他說：「我們不是由淫亂生的，我們只有一個父親：就是天主。」 |
41You are doing the works of your father!" (So) they said to him, "We are not illegitimate. We have one Father, God." |
| 42耶穌回答說：「假如天主是你們的父親，你們必愛我，因為我是由天主出發而來的，並不是由我自己來的，而是那一位派遣了我。 |
42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me. |
| 43為什麼你們不明白我的講論呢？無非是你們不肯聽我的話。 |
43Why do you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot bear to hear my word. |
| 44你們是出於你們的父親魔鬼，並願意追隨你們父親的慾望。從起初，他就是殺人的兇手，不站在真理上，因為在他內沒有真理；他幾時撒謊，正出於他的本性，因為他是撒謊者，而且又是撒謊者的父親。 |
44You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies. |
| 45至於我，因為我說真理，你們卻不信我。 |
45But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me. |
| 46你們中誰能指證我有罪？若是我說真理，為什麼你們卻不信我 呢？ |
46Can any of you charge me with sin? If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me? |
| 47出於天主的，必聽天主的話；你們所以不聽，因為你們不是出於天主。」 |
47Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not listen, because you do not belong to God." |
| 48猶太人遂向他說：「我們說你是個撒瑪黎雅人，並附有魔鬼，豈不正對嗎？」 |
48The Jews answered and said to him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed?" |
| 49耶穌答覆說：「我沒有附魔，我只是尊敬我的父，你們卻侮辱我。 |
49Jesus answered, "I am not possessed; I honor my Father, but you dishonor me. |
| 50然而，我不尋求我的光榮，有為我尋求而行判斷的一位。 |
50I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks it and he is the one who judges. |
| 51我實實在在告訴你們：誰如果遵行我的話，永遠見不到死亡。」 |
51Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death." |
| 52猶太人向他說：「現在我們知道：你附有魔鬼；亞巴郎和先知都死了；你卻說：誰如果遵行我的話，永遠嘗不到死味。 |
52(So) the Jews said to him, "Now we are sure that you are possessed. Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, 'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.' |
| 53難道你比我們的父親亞巴郎還大嗎？他死了，先知們也死了。你把你自己當作什麼人呢？」 |
53Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? Or the prophets, who died? Who do you make yourself out to be?" |
| 54耶穌答覆說：「我如果光榮我自己，我的光榮算不了什麼；那光榮我的，是我的父，就是你們所稱的『我們的天主』。 |
54Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, 'He is our God.' |
| 55你們不認識他，我卻認識他；我若說我不認識他，我便像你們一樣是個撒謊者；但是，我認識他，也遵守他的話。 |
55You do not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not know him, I would be like you a liar. But I do know him and I keep his word. |
| 56你們的父親亞巴郎曾歡欣喜樂地企望看到我的日子，他看見了，極其高興。」 |
56Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad. |
| 57猶太人就對他說：「你還沒有五十歲，就見過亞巴郎嗎？」 |
57So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?" |
| 58耶穌回答說：「我實實在在告訴你們：在亞巴郎出現以前，我就有。」 |
58 Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM." |
| 59他們就拿起石頭來要向他投去；耶穌卻隱沒了，從聖殿裏出去了。 |
59So they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area. |
