| 1在那個時期，黑落德王已下手磨難教會中的一些人， |
1 About that time King Herod laid hands upon some members of the church to harm them. |
| 2用劍殺了若望的哥哥雅各伯。 |
2He had James, the brother of John, killed by the sword, |
| 3他一看到猶太人喜歡，便命人連伯多祿也加以拘捕，時正值無酵節日； |
3 and when he saw that this was pleasing to the Jews he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (It was (the) feast of Unleavened Bread.) |
| 4把他拿住以後，就押在監獄中，交由四班兵士──每班四人──看守，願意在逾越節後，給百姓提出來。 |
4He had him taken into custody and put in prison under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. He intended to bring him before the people after Passover. |
| 5伯多祿就被看管在監獄中，而教會懇切為他向天主祈禱。 |
5Peter thus was being kept in prison, but prayer by the church was fervently being made to God on his behalf. |
| 6及至黑落德將要提出他的時候，那一夜伯多祿被兩道鎖鏈縛着，睡在兩個士兵中，門前還有衛兵把守監獄。 |
6On the very night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter, secured by double chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while outside the door guards kept watch on the prison. |
| 7忽然，主的一位天使顯現，有一道光，照亮了房間，天使拍着伯多祿的肋膀，喚醒他說：「快快起來！」鎖鏈遂從他手上落下來。 |
7Suddenly the angel of the Lord stood by him and a light shone in the cell. He tapped Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, "Get up quickly." The chains fell from his wrists. |
| 8天使向他說：「束上腰，穿上你的鞋！」他都照辦了。天使吩咐他說：「披上你的外氅，跟我來罷！」 |
8The angel said to him, "Put on your belt and your sandals." He did so. Then he said to him, "Put on your cloak and follow me." |
| 9他就出來跟着走，還不知道天使所行的是實在的事，只想是見了異像。 |
9So he followed him out, not realizing that what was happening through the angel was real; he thought he was seeing a vision. |
| 10他們經過第一道崗，又第二道，來到通到城的鐵門前，鐵門就自動地給他們開了；他們便出去，往前走了一條街，忽然天使離開他，不見了。 |
10They passed the first guard, then the second, and came to the iron gate leading out to the city, which opened for them by itself. They emerged and made their way down an alley, and suddenly the angel left him. |
| 11伯多祿這纔清醒過來，說：「現今我實在知道主派了他的天使來，救我脫免黑落德的手和猶太人民所希望的事。」 |
11Then Peter recovered his senses and said, "Now I know for certain that (the) Lord sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people had been expecting." |
| 12他既明白過來，就往若望──號稱馬爾谷──的母親瑪利亞的家去，在那裏有好些人聚集祈禱。 |
12When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John who is called Mark, where there were many people gathered in prayer. |
| 13他敲大門的時候，有一個名叫洛德的使女過來聽。 |
13When he knocked on the gateway door, a maid named Rhoda came to answer it. |
| 14她一認出是伯多祿的聲音，喜的沒有開門，就跑進去報告說：伯多祿站在大門前。 |
14She was so overjoyed when she recognized Peter's voice that, instead of opening the gate, she ran in and announced that Peter was standing at the gate. |
| 15他們都對她說：「你瘋了！」她卻堅持說：實在是這樣。他們反說：「是他的天使。」 |
15They told her, "You are out of your mind," but she insisted that it was so. But they kept saying, "It is his angel." |
| 16伯多祿還不住的敲門；他們一開門，看見是他，都驚呆了。 |
16But Peter continued to knock, and when they opened it, they saw him and were astounded. |
| 17伯多祿擺手叫他們不要作聲，遂給他們述說上主怎樣領他出了監獄，且說：「你們要把這些事報告給雅各伯和弟兄們。」他便出去，往別的地方去了。 |
17He motioned to them with his hand to be quiet and explained (to them) how the Lord had led him out of the prison, and said, "Report this to James and the brothers." Then he left and went to another place. |
| 18天一亮，在士兵中，起了不少的騷亂，不知伯多祿出了什麼事。 |
18At daybreak there was no small commotion among the soldiers over what had become of Peter. |
| 19黑落德遂搜尋他，搜尋不到，就審訊衛兵，下令把他們處決了。 |
19Herod, after instituting a search but not finding him, ordered the guards tried and executed. Then he left Judea to spend some time in Caesarea. |
| 20那時，黑落德向提洛和漆冬發了大怒；二城的人商量好，來見他，並賄賂了管王臥房的布拉斯托去求和，因為他們那一方當由君王這裏獲得食糧。 |
20 He had long been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon, who now came to him in a body. After winning over Blastus, the king's chamberlain, they sued for peace because their country was supplied with food from the king's territory. |
| 21黑落德在約定的日子，披戴君王的禮服，坐在寶座上向他們演 講。 |
21On an appointed day, Herod, attired in royal robes, (and) seated on the rostrum, addressed them publicly. |
| 22人民便呼喊說：「這不是人的聲音，而是神的聲音。」 |
22The assembled crowd cried out, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man." |
| 23立刻有上主的天使打擊了他，因為他沒有歸光榮於天主。他為蟲子所吃，遂斷了氣。 |
23At once the angel of the Lord struck him down because he did not ascribe the honor to God, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last. |
| 24天主的道卻逐漸發揚廣大。 |
24But the word of God continued to spread and grow. |
| 25巴爾納伯和掃祿完成了任務，就帶着號稱馬爾谷的若望從耶路撒冷回去了。 |
25After Barnabas and Saul completed their relief mission, they returned to Jerusalem, taking with them John, who is called Mark. |
