| 1正當他們向百姓講話的時候，司祭、聖殿警官和撒杜塞人來到他們那裡， |
1While they were still speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees confronted them, |
| 2大為惱怒，因為他們教訓百姓，並宣講耶穌從死者中復活， |
2disturbed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. |
| 3遂下手拿住他們，押在拘留所裡，直到第二天，因為天已晚了。 |
3They laid hands on them and put them in custody until the next day, since it was already evening. |
| 4但聽道的人中，有許多人信從了，男人的數目，大約有五千。 |
4But many of those who heard the word came to believe and (the) number of men grew to (about) five thousand. |
| 5到了第二天，猶太人的首領、長老和經師都聚集在耶路撒冷， |
5On the next day, their leaders, elders, and scribes were assembled in Jerusalem, |
| 6還有大司祭亞納斯和蓋法、若望、亞歷山大以及大司祭家族的人。 |
6with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly class. |
| 7他們就令宗徒們站在中間，仔細考問說：「你們憑什麼能力，或以誰的名義行這事？」 |
7They brought them into their presence and questioned them, "By what power or by what name have you done this?" |
| 8那時，伯多祿充滿聖神，向他們說：「各位百姓首領和長老！ |
8Then Peter, filled with the holy Spirit, answered them, "Leaders of the people and elders: |
| 9如果你們今天詢問我們有關向一個病人行善的事，並且他怎樣痊癒了， |
9If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a cripple, namely, by what means he was saved, |
| 10我很高興告訴你們和全以色列百姓：是憑納匝肋人耶穌基督的名字即是你們所釘死，天主從死者中所復活的；就是憑着這人，這個站在你們面前的人好了。 |
10then all of you and all the people of Israel should know that it was in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarean whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead; in his name this man stands before you healed. |
| 11這耶穌就是為你們『匠人所棄而不用的石頭，反而成了屋角基石。』 |
11He is 'the stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.' |
| 12除他以外，無論憑誰，決無救援，因為在天下人間，沒有賜下別的名字，使我們賴以得救的。」 |
12 There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved." |
| 13他們看到伯多祿和若望的膽量，並曉得他們是沒有讀過書的平常人，就十分驚訝；他們既認出他們是同耶穌在一起的， |
13Observing the boldness of Peter and John and perceiving them to be uneducated, ordinary men, they were amazed, and they recognized them as the companions of Jesus. |
| 14又看見那治好了的人，同他們一起站着，都無言可對。 |
14Then when they saw the man who had been cured standing there with them, they could say nothing in reply. |
| 15遂命他們暫且離開公議會，彼此商議， |
15So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin, and conferred with one another, saying, |
| 16說：「對這些人我們可以作什麼呢？因為他們確實顯了一個明顯的奇蹟，凡耶路撒冷的居民都知道了，我們也不能否認。 |
16"What are we to do with these men? Everyone living in Jerusalem knows that a remarkable sign was done through them, and we cannot deny it. |
| 17但是，為叫這事不再在民間傳播，我們當恐嚇他們，叫他們不可再因這名字向任何人發言。」 |
17But so that it may not be spread any further among the people, let us give them a stern warning never again to speak to anyone in this name." |
| 18遂叫了他們來，嚴令他們絕對不可再因耶穌的名發言施教。 |
18So they called them back and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. |
| 19伯多祿和若望卻回答說：「聽從你們而不聽從天主，在天主前是否合理，你們評斷罷！ |
19Peter and John, however, said to them in reply, "Whether it is right in the sight of God for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges. |
| 20因為我們不得不說我們所見所聞的事。」 |
20It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard." |
| 21議員們為了百姓的原故，找不到藉口來處罰他們，就把他們恐嚇一番，予以釋放了，因為眾人都為所發生的事光榮天主。 |
21After threatening them further, they released them, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people who were all praising God for what had happened. |
| 22原來那因奇蹟治好了的人，已有四十多歲了。 |
22For the man on whom this sign of healing had been done was over forty years old. |
| 23他們被釋放之後，來到自己的人那裡，報告了大司祭和長老向他們所說的一切； |
23After their release they went back to their own people and reported what the chief priests and elders had told them. |
| 24大家一聽，都同心合意地高聲向天主說：「上主！『是你創造了天地海洋，和其中的一切。』 |
24And when they heard it, they raised their voices to God with one accord and said, "Sovereign Lord, maker of heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them, |
| 25你曾以聖神藉我們的祖先，你的僕人達味的口說過：『異民為何叛亂？萬民為何策劃妄事？ |
25you said by the holy Spirit through the mouth of our father David, your servant: 'Why did the Gentiles rage and the peoples entertain folly? |
| 26世上的君王起來，首領聚集在一起，反對上主和他的受傅者。』 |
26The kings of the earth took their stand and the princes gathered together against the Lord and against his anointed.' |
| 27實在，黑落德和般雀比拉多與異民和以色列人聚集在這座城內，反對你的聖僕人耶穌，反對你的受傅者， |
27Indeed they gathered in this city against your holy servant Jesus whom you anointed, Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, |
| 28實行了你的手和計劃所預定要成就的事。 |
28to do what your hand and (your) will had long ago planned to take place. |
| 29現今，上主！請注意他們的恐嚇，賜你的僕人以絕大的膽量，宣講你的真道， |
29And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and enable your servants to speak your word with all boldness, |
| 30同時伸出你的手，藉你的聖僕人耶穌的名字治病，顯徵兆，行奇蹟。」 |
30as you stretch forth (your) hand to heal, and signs and wonders are done through the name of your holy servant Jesus." |
| 31他們祈禱後，他們聚集的地方震動起來，眾人都充滿了聖神，大膽地宣講天主的真道。 |
31 As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. |
| 32眾信徒都是一心一意，凡各人所有的，沒有人說是自己的，都歸公用。 |
32 The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. |
| 33宗徒們以大德能，作證主耶穌的復活，在眾人前大受愛戴。 |
33With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. |
| 34在他們中，沒有一個貧乏的人，因為凡有田地和房屋的，賣了以後，把賣得的價錢帶來， |
34There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, |
| 35放在宗徒們腳前，照每人所需要的分配。 |
35and put them at the feet of the apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need. |
| 36有位若瑟，宗徒稱之為巴爾納伯，解說「安慰之子」，是肋未人，生於塞浦路斯島， |
36Thus Joseph, also named by the apostles Barnabas (which is translated "son of encouragement"), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth, |
| 37他有田地，賣了以後，也把銀錢帶來，放在宗徒腳前。 |
37sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the apostles. |
