| 得撒洛尼前書 |
1 Thessalonians |
| 1此外，弟兄們，我們在主耶穌內還請求和勸勉你們：你們既由我們學會了應怎樣行事，為中悅天主，你們就該怎樣行事，還要更向前邁進。 |
1Finally, brothers, we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that, as you received from us how you should conduct yourselves to please God--and as you are conducting yourselves--you do so even more. |
| 2你們原來知道：我們因主耶穌給了你們什麼誡命。 |
2For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. |
| 3天主的旨意就是要你們成聖，要你們戒絕邪淫， |
3 This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality, |
| 4要你們每一個人明瞭，應以聖潔和敬意持守自己的肉體， |
4that each of you know how to acquire a wife for himself in holiness and honor, |
| 5不要放縱邪淫之情，像那些不認識天主的外邦人一樣； |
5not in lustful passion as do the Gentiles who do not know God; |
| 6在這樣的事上，不要侵犯損害自己的弟兄，因為主對這一切是要報復的，就如我們先前已說過，已證明過的， |
6not to take advantage of or exploit a brother in this matter, for the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you before and solemnly affirmed. |
| 7因為天主召叫我們不是為不潔，而是為成聖。 |
7For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. |
| 8所以凡輕視這誡命的，不是輕視人，而是輕視那將自己的聖神賦於你們身上的天主。 |
8Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who (also) gives his holy Spirit to you. |
| 9關於弟兄的友愛，不需要給你們寫什麼，因為你們自己由天主受了彼此相愛的教訓。 |
9On the subject of mutual charity you have no need for anyone to write you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another. |
| 10你們對全馬其頓的眾弟兄原已實行了這事；不過，弟兄們，我們勸你們更向前邁進。 |
10Indeed, you do this for all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Nevertheless we urge you, brothers, to progress even more, |
| 11你們要以過安定的生活，專務己業，親手勞作為光榮，就如我們所吩咐過你們的， |
11and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your (own) hands, as we instructed you, |
| 12好叫你們在外人前來往時有光釆，不仰仗任何人。 |
12that you may conduct yourselves properly toward outsiders and not depend on anyone. |
| 13弟兄們，關於亡者，我們不願意你們不知道，以免你們憂傷，像其他沒有望德的人一樣。 |
13We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. |
| 14因為我們若是信耶穌死了，也復活了，同樣也必信天主要領那些死於耶穌內的人同他一起來。 |
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep. |
| 15我們照主的話告訴你們這件事：我們這些活着存留到主來臨時的人，決不會在已死的人以前。 |
15Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. |
| 16因為在發命時，在總領天使吶喊和天主的號聲響時，主要親自由天降來，那些死於基督內的人先要復活， |
16For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. |
| 17然後我們這些活着還存留的人，同時與他們一起要被提到雲彩上，到空中迎接主：這樣，我們就時常同主在一起。 |
17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. |
| 18為此，你們要常用這些話彼此安慰。 |
18Therefore, console one another with these words. |
