戶籍紀	Numbers
¹巴郎見祝福以色列，為上主所喜悅，就不再像前幾次一樣先去探求預示，只轉面向曠野。	¹Balaam, however, perceiving that the LORD was pleased to bless Israel, did not go aside as before to seek omens, but turned his gaze toward the desert.
²巴郎一舉目，看見了按支派紮營的以色列人；那時天主的神降在他身上，	²When he raised his eyes and saw Israel encamped, tribe by tribe, the spirit of God came upon him,
³他遂吟詩說：「貝敖爾的兒子巴郎的神諭，明眼男子的神諭，	³and he gave voice to his oracle: The utterance of Balaam, son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eye is true,
⁴那聽到天主的話，得見全能者的神視，在沉睡中開了神眼的神諭：	⁴The utterance of one who hears what God says, and knows what the Most High knows, Of one who sees what the Almighty sees, enraptured, and with eyes unveiled:
⁵雅各伯，你的帳幕，何其壯觀！以色列，你的居所，何其美好！	⁵How goodly are your tents, O Jacob; your encampments, O Israel!
⁶如擴展的棕林，似河畔的花園，像上主栽種的沉香，似臨水的香柏。	⁶They are like gardens beside a stream, like the cedars planted by the LORD.
⁷英雄由他的後裔而出，他將治理許多民族；他的君王超越阿加格，他的王國必受舉揚。	⁷His wells shall yield free-flowing waters, he shall have the sea within reach; His king shall rise higher than. . . . and his royalty shall be exalted.
⁸領他出埃及的天主，為他有如野牛的角。他要吞滅那敵對他的人民，粉碎他們的骨骸，折斷他們的箭矢。	⁸It is God who brought him out of Egypt, a wild bull of towering might. He shall devour the nations like grass, their bones he shall strip bare.
⁹他蹲伏臥下有如雄獅，又似母獅；誰敢令他起立？祝福你的，必受祝福；咒罵你的，必受咒罵。」	⁹He lies crouching like a lion, or like a lioness; who shall arouse him? Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you!
¹⁰巴拉克對巴郎大發忿怒，拍手向他說：「我請你來是為咒罵我的仇敵；看，你反祝福他們，且已三次。	¹⁰ Balak beat his palms together in a blaze of anger at Balaam and said to him, "It was to curse my foes that I summoned you here; yet three times now you have even blessed them instead!
¹¹現在你快回你故鄉去！我原想豐富地酬謝你，但是，上主奪去了你的酬報。」	¹¹Be off at once, then, to your home. I promised to reward you richly, but the LORD has withheld the reward from you!"
¹²巴郎回答巴拉克說：「我不是已對你遣來的使者聲明過：	¹²Balaam replied to Balak, "Did I not warn the very messengers whom you sent to me,
¹³即使巴拉克給我滿屋金銀，我也不能違犯上主的命令，任意去行善或作惡，而只能說上主所吩咐的嗎？	¹³'Even if Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not of my own accord to anything, good or evil, contrary to the command of the LORD'? Whatever the LORD says I must repeat.
¹⁴現在，我就要回到我民族那裏去；來，讓我告訴你這民族日後對你的民族所要做的事。」	¹⁴"But now that I am about to go to my own people, let me first warn you what this people will do to your people in the days to come."
¹⁵於是他吟詩說：「貝敖爾的兒子巴郎的神諭，明眼男子的神諭，	¹⁵Then Balaam gave voice to his oracle: The utterance of Balaam, son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eye is true,
¹⁶那聽到天主的話，深知至高者的思慮，得見全能者的神視，在沉睡中開了神眼的神諭：	¹⁶The utterance of one who hears what God says, and knows what the Most High knows, Of one who sees what the Almighty sees, enraptured and with eyes unveiled.
¹⁷我看見他，卻不是在現在；我望見他，卻不是在近處：由雅各伯將出現一顆星，由以色列將興起一權杖，擊碎摩阿布的額角，粉碎舍特一切子民的腦蓋。	¹⁷ I see him, though not now; I behold him, though not near: A star shall advance from Jacob, and a staff shall rise from Israel, That shall smite the brows of Moab, and the skulls of all the Shuthites,
¹⁸厄東將成為他的屬地，色依爾將成為他的轄境；以色列必行使威權。	¹⁸Till Edom is dispossessed, and no fugitive is left in Seir. Israel shall do valiantly,
¹⁹由雅各伯將出生一位統治仇敵者，他要除滅依爾的遺民。」	¹⁹and Jacob shall overcome his foes.
²⁰以後他望見阿瑪肋克，遂吟詩說：「阿瑪肋克原是眾民之首，但他的結局是永遠的滅亡。」	²⁰ Upon seeing Amalek, Balaam gave voice to his oracle: First of the peoples was Amalek, but his end is to perish forever.
²¹後又望見刻尼人，遂吟詩說：「你的居所固然鞏固，你的巢穴縱然建在磐石間；	²¹ Upon seeing the Kenites, he gave voice to his oracle: Your abode is enduring, O smith, and your nest is set on a cliff;
²²但刻尼人仍要被毀滅，到何時亞述纔將你擄去？」	²²Yet destined for burning-- even as I watch--are your inhabitants.
²³他又吟詩說：「嗚呼！若天主履行此事，誰還能生存！	²³ Upon seeing. . . . he gave voice to his oracle: Alas, who shall survive of Ishmael,
²⁴從基廷有船來，征服亞述，征服厄貝爾；他們也要永遠滅亡。」	²⁴to deliver his people from the hands of the Kittim? When they have conquered Asshur and conquered Eber, He too shall perish forever.
²⁵然後巴郎起身回了本鄉；巴拉克也回去了。	²⁵Then Balaam set out on his journey home; and Balak also went his way.
