| 2达味王站起来说道：「我的弟兄，我的百姓，请听我的话！我原有意为上主的约柜，即为我们天主的脚凳，建造一座安放的殿宇，并且我已作了建造的准备； | 2Then King David got up and said: "My brothers and my people, listen to me. I had set my heart on building a settled home for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, as a footstool for our God. I have made preparations for building, |
| 3然而天主对我说：你不可为我的名建筑殿宇，因为你是一个军人，流过人的血。 | 3but God has said to me, 'You are not to build a temple for my name, for you have been a man of war and have shed blood.' |
| 4上主以色列的天主，由我父全家中选拔了我永远作王，统治以色列，因为他选拔了犹大为长，由犹大家族中又选拔了我的父家，在我父亲的儿子中，他喜爱我，立我作王，统治全以色列； | 4Yahweh, the God of Israel, chose me and my descendants to rule Israel forever. He chose Judah for leader, my family within the tribe of Judah, and of my father's sons, myself. He was pleased to make me king of all Israel. |
| 5他又从我的众子中，──因为上主赏赐了我许多儿子，选拔了我儿撒罗满，坐上主王国的宝座，治理以色列。 | 5Of all my sons - he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of Yahweh over Israel. |
| 6他这样对我说：是你的儿子撒罗满要为我建筑殿宇和庭院，因为我已选了他作我的儿子，我要作他的父亲。 | 6He said to me, 'Solomon your son is the man to build my Temple and my courts, for I have chosen him to be a son to me and I will be a father to him. |
| 7如果他坚守遵行我的诫命、和法律，如同今日一样，我必巩固他的王权直到永远。 | 7I will make his kingdom last forever if he continues to obey carefully all my laws and commands as he does now.' |
| 8所以现今当着全以色列，上主的会众面前，在我们天主听闻之下，我劝你们必须遵守并寻求上主，你们天主的一切诫命，好使你们保有这块美丽的地方，永远遗留给你们的子孙。 | 8So now in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of Yahweh, and in the hearing of our God, I tell you to observe and meditate on all the commandments of Yahweh your God, so that you may possess this prosperous land and leave it to your children after you as an inheritance forever. |
| 9至于你、我儿撒罗满！你要认识你父亲的天主，全心乐意事奉他，因为上主洞察所有的人心，知道人的一切心思欲念。如果你寻求他，他必使你寻获；如果你背叛他，他必要永远抛弃你。 | 9And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, serve him with an undivided heart and a willing mind; for Yahweh knows all our thoughts and desires. If you seek him, he will let you find him; but if you turn away from him, he will abandon you forever. |
| 10现在，你该注意，因为上主拣选了你建筑殿宇作为他的圣所，你要勇敢去行。」 | 10Realize at this moment that Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for him as sanctuary. Be strong and set to work." |
| 11达味遂将东廊、厢房、府库、楼阁、内室和至圣所的图样，交给了他的儿子撒罗满； | 11David gave his son Solomon the plans for the vestibule, the buildings, the treasuries, the upper rooms, the inner apartments and the room where the mercy Seat would be. |

| 20达味又对他的儿子撒罗满说：「你要勇敢勉力去行，不必害怕，不必畏惧，因为上主天主，我的天主必与你同在；他决不远离你，决不抛弃你，直到你完成修筑上主殿宇的一切工作。 | 20Then David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong, stand firm; be fearless, be determined and set to work, because Yahweh God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or abandon you before you have finished all the work to be done for the House of Yahweh. |
| 21你看司祭和肋未人已分好班次，奉行天主殿内的事务；在各种工作上，又有各种的巧匠自愿辅助你，首领和全体人民又都听你的指挥。」 | 21Here are the orders of priests and Levites for all the duties of the House of God; every willing man of any aptitude will help you in all this work; the officials and all the people are entirely at your command." |
