| 1弟兄们，至论那时候与日期，不需要给你们写什么。 | 1You do not need anyone to write to you about the delay and the appointed time for these events. |
| 2你们原确实知道：主的日子要像夜间的盗贼一样来到。 | 2You know that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. |
| 3几时人正说：「平安无事」，那时灭亡会猝然来到他们身上，就像痛苦来到怀孕者身上一样，决逃脱不了。 | 3When people feel secure and at peace, the disaster will suddenly come upon them as the birth pangs of a woman in labor, and they will not escape. |
| 4但是你们，弟兄们，你们不是在黑暗中，以致那日子像盗贼一样袭击你们； | 4But you, beloved, are not in darkness; so that day will not surprise you like a thief. |
| 5你们众人都是光明之子和白日之子；我们不属于黑夜，也不属于黑暗。 | 5All of you are citizens of the light and the day; we do not belong to night and darkness. |
| 6所以我们不当像其他的人一样贪睡，却当醒寤清醒， | 6Let us not, therefore, sleep as others do, but remain alert and sober. |
| 7因为人睡觉是黑夜睡觉，喝醉的人是黑夜喝醉； | 7Those who sleep, go to sleep at night, and those who drink, get drunk at night. |
| 8但是我们做白日之子的，应当清醒，穿上信德和爱德作甲，戴上得救的望德作盔， | 8Since we belong to the day, let us be sober, let us put on the breastplate of faith and love, and let the hope of salvation be our helmet. |
| 9因为天主没有拣定我们为泄怒，而是藉我们的主耶稣基督为获得拯救， | 9For God has not willed us to be condemned but to win salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord. |
| 10他为我们死了，为叫我们不论醒寤或睡眠，都同他一起生活。 | 10He died for us so that we might enter into life with him, whether we are still awake or already asleep. |
| 11为此，你们应互相安慰，彼此建树，就如你们所行的。 | 11Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, as you are doing now. |
| 12弟兄们，我们还求你们尊敬那些在你们中劳苦，在主内管理你们和劝戒你们的人， | 12Brothers and sisters, I want you to be thankful to those who labor among you, who lead you in the way of the Lord and also reprimand you. |
| 13为了他们的工作，你们更应本着爱，重视他们；你们要彼此平安相处。 | 13Esteem them highly and love them for what they are doing. Live at peace among yourselves. |
| 14弟兄们，我们还劝勉你们：要劝戒闲荡的，宽慰怯懦的，扶持软弱的，容忍一切人！ | 14We urge you to warn the idle, encourage those who feel discouraged, sustain the weak, have patience with everyone. |
| 15要小心：人对人不要以恶报恶，却要时常彼此勉励，互相善待，且善待一切人。 | 15See that no one repays evil for evil, but try to do good, whether among yourselves or towards others. |
| 16应常欢乐， | 16Rejoice always, |
| 17不断祈祷， | 17pray without ceasing |
| 18事事感谢：这就是天主在基督耶稣内对你们所有的旨意。 | 18and give thanks to God at every moment. This is the will of God, your vocation as Christians. |
| 19不要消灭神恩， | 19Do not quench the Spirit, |
| 20不要轻视先知之恩； | 20do not despise the prophets' warnings. |
| 21但应当考验一切，好的，应保持； | 21Put everything to the test and hold fast to what is good. |
| 22各种坏的，要远避。 | 22Avoid evil, wherever it may be. |
| 23愿赐平安的天主亲自完全圣化你们，将你们整个的神魂、灵魂和肉身，在我们的主耶稣基督来临时，保持的无瑕可指： | 23May the God of Peace make you holy and bring you to perfection. May you be completely blameless, in spirit, soul and body, till the coming of Christ Jesus, our Lord; |
| 24那召你们的是忠信的，他必实行。 | 24he who called you is faithful and will do it. |
| 25弟兄们，你们也要为我们祈祷。 | 25Brothers and sisters, pray for us. |
| 26你们要以圣吻问候所有的弟兄。 | 26Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss. |
| 27我因主誓求你们，向众弟兄朗诵这封书信。 | 27I order you in the name of the Lord that this letter be read to all of them. |
| 28愿我们的主耶稣基督的恩宠与你们同在！ | 28May the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord be with you. |
