| 1吾主上主叫我看见这事：割完君王的青草，当晚草初生时，看，蝗虫出现了。 | 1This is what Yahweh showed me. He was forming a swarm of locusts just as the late sowing began to come up. It was the second growth which follows the king's mowing. |
| 2当蝗虫要吃光地上的青草时，我就说：「吾主上主，求你饶恕罢！雅各伯还怎能存在？他已这样弱小！」 | 2When they were about to finish devouring all the crops of the land, I said, "Yahweh, forgive! How shall Jacob survive, small as he is?" |
| 3上主对这事后悔了。上主说：「这事不会发生。」 | 3Yahweh repented and said, "It shall not happen." |
| 4吾主上主叫我看见这事：看，吾主上主召来惩罚的火，烧毁了广大的深渊，又烧毁了上主的基业。 | 4This is what Yahweh showed me: he was calling for burning heat. It consumed the great deep and was consuming the land. |
| 5我就说：「吾主上主！求你罢休！雅各伯还怎能存在？他已这样弱小！」 | 5I said, "Yahweh, stop! How shall Jacob survive small as he is?" |
| 6上主对这事后悔了。吾主上主说：「这事也不会发生。」 | 6Yahweh relented and said, "This too shall not happen." |
| 7吾主上主叫我看见这事：看，有一人立在墙上，手中拿着一条铅垂线。 | 7This is what Yahweh showed me. He was standing beside a wall with a plumb line in his hand. |
| 8上主对我说：「亚毛斯，你看见了什么？」我答说：「一条铅垂线。」吾主说：「看，我将铅垂线安置在我民族以色列当中，我不再放过她。 | 8The Lord asked me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I answered, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Behold, I am measuring my people Israel with a plumb line. I will forgive them no more. |
| 9依撒格的高丘必要荒芜，以色列的圣所必要废弃；我必起来用刀攻击雅洛贝罕家。」 | 9The high places of Isaac are to be made desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste. For I will arise, sword in hand, against the family of Jeroboam." |
| 10那时，贝特耳的司祭阿玛责雅派人向以色列王雅洛贝罕说：「亚毛斯在以色列家中图谋背叛你，国家不能再容受他的一切言论， | 10Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, then sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, "Amos is conspiring against you in the very center of Israel; what he says goes too far. |
| 11因为亚毛斯这样说：雅洛贝罕必死于刀下，以色列必被掳去充军，远离本土。」 | 11These are his very words: Jeroboam shall die by the sword and Israel shall be exiled from its land." |
| 12事后，阿玛责雅又向亚毛斯说：「先见者，你走罢！赶快到犹大国去，在那里餬口，在那里讲预言。 | 12Amaziah then said to Amos, "Off with you, seer, go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there by prophesying. |
| 13在贝特耳不可再讲预言，因为这里是君王的圣所，王国的殿宇。」 | 13But never again prophesy at Bethel for it is a king's sanctuary and a national shrine." |
| 14亚毛斯回答阿玛责雅说：「我原不是先知，也不是先知的弟子，只是一个放羊兼修剪野无花果的人。 | 14Amos replied to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet or one of the fellow-prophets. I am a breeder of sheep and a dresser of sycamore trees. |
| 15但是，上主正在我赶羊时提了我来。上主对我说：你去向我的百姓以色列讲预言罢！ | 15But Yahweh took me from shepherding the flock and said to me: Go, and from me, tell my people Israel. |
| 16现今，你且听上主说什么。你说：不要讲预言攻击以色列，不要发言反对依撒格家！ | 16Now hear the word of Yahweh, you who say: No more prophecy against Israel, no more insults against the family of Isaac! |
| 17为此，上主这样说：你的妻子必在城中卖淫，你的子女必丧身刀下，你的田地必被人以绳墨瓜分，你自己必死在不洁之地，以色列必被掳去充军，远离本土。」 | 17This is what Yahweh says: Your wife shall be made a harlot in the city, your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword, your land shall be divided up and given to others, and you yourself shall die in a foreign land, for Israel shall be driven far from its land." |
