| 1上主对亚巴郎说：「离开你的故乡、你的家族和父家，往我指给你的地方去。 | 1Yahweh said to Abram, "Leave your country, your family and your father's house, for the land I will show you. |
| 2我要使你成为一个大民族，我必祝福你，使你成名，成为一个福源。 | 2I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing. |
| 3我要祝福那祝福你的人，咒骂那咒骂你的人；地上万民都要因你获得祝福。」 | 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse, and in you all peoples of the earth will be blessed." |
| 4亚巴郎遂照上主的吩咐起了身，罗特也同他一起走了。亚巴郎离开哈兰时，已七十五岁。 | 4So Abram went as Yahweh had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. |
| 5他带了妻子撒辣依、他兄弟的儿子罗特和他在哈兰积蓄的财物，获得的仆婢，一同往客纳罕地去，终于到了客纳罕地。 | 5Abram took Sarai, his wife, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran. They set out for the land of Canaan. They arrived at Canaan. |
| 6亚巴郎经过那地，直到了舍根地摩勒橡树区；当时客纳罕人尚住在那地方。 | 6Abram traveled through the country as far as Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. |
| 7上主显现给亚巴郎说：「我要将这地方赐给你的后裔。」亚巴郎就在那里给显现于他的上主，筑了一座祭坛。 | 7Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." There he built an altar to Yahweh who had appeared to him. |
| 8从那里又迁移到贝特耳东面山区，在那里搭了帐幕，西有贝特耳，东有哈依；他在那里又为上主筑了一座祭坛，呼求上主的名。 | 8From there he went on to the mountains east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel to the west and Ai to the east. There also he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh. |
| 9以后亚巴郎渐渐移往乃革布区。 | 9Then Abram set out in the direction of Negeb. |
| 10其时那地方起了饥荒，亚巴郎遂下到埃及，寄居在那里，因为那地方饥荒十分严重。 | 10There was famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to stay there for some time, for the famine was severe in the land. |
| 11当他要进埃及时，对妻子撒辣依说：「我知道你是个貌美的女人； | 11Just as he was about to enter Egypt he said to Sarai, his wife, "Now I know you are a beautiful woman. |
| 12埃及人见了你，必要说：这是他的妻子；他们定要杀我，让你活着。 | 12When the Egyptians see you they will say: 'That is his wife!' They will then kill me, but they will let you live. |
| 13所以请你说：你是我的妹妹，这样我因了你而必获优待，赖你的情面，保全我的生命。」 | 13Say that you are my sister, so that they treat me well on account of you and my life be spared because of you." |
| 14果然，当亚巴郎一到了埃及，埃及人就注意了这女人实在美丽。 | 14In fact, when Abram arrived in Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. |
| 15法郎的朝臣也看见了她，就在法郎前赞她美丽；这女人就被带入法郎的宫中。 | 15Pharaoh's officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh. The woman was taken into Pharaoh's house |
| 16亚巴郎因了她果然蒙了优待，得了些牛羊、公驴、仆婢、母驴和骆驼。 | 16and because of her he dealt well with Abram; he received sheep, cattle, donkeys, menservants, maidservants, she-asses and camels. |
| 17但是，上主为了亚巴郎的妻子撒辣依的事，降下大难打击了法郎和他全家。 | 17But Yahweh inflicted severe plagues on Pharaoh and his household because of Sarai. |
| 18法郎遂叫亚巴郎来说：「你对我作的是什么事？为什么你没有告诉我，她是你的妻子？ | 18So Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, "What have you done to me? |
| 19为什么你说：她是我的妹妹，以致我娶了她做我的妻子？现在，你的妻子在这里，你带她去罢！」 | 19Why did you say: 'She's my sister,' so that I took her for my wife. Now, here is your wife! Take her and go!" |
| 20法郎于是吩咐人送走了亚巴郎和他的妻子以及他所有的一切。 | 20And Pharaoh gave orders to his men regarding Abram, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and all that was his. |
