| 2亚巴郎有许多牲畜和金银。 | 2Now Abram was very rich in flocks, silver and gold. |
| 3他由乃革布逐渐往贝特耳移动帐幕，到了先前他在贝特耳与哈依之间，支搭帐幕的地方， | 3As he journeyed on, he went from the Negeb as far as Bethel, to the place where he first pitched his tent between Bethel and Ai |
| 4亦即他先前筑了祭坛，呼求上主之名的地方。 | 4at the spot where he had formerly made an altar and called on the Name of Yahweh. |
| 5与亚巴郎同行的罗特，也有羊群、牛群和帐幕， | 5Lot who went with Abram also had flocks, cattle and tents. |
| 6那地方容不下他们住在一起，因为他们的产业太多，无法住在一起。 | 6The land was not sufficient to allow them to stay together, for their possessions were too great for them to live together. |
| 7牧放亚巴郎牲畜的人与牧放罗特牲畜的人，时常发生口角，──当时客纳罕人和培黎齐人尚住在那里。 | 7A quarrel arose between the herdsmen of Abram's flock and those of Lot. (The Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land at the time.) |
| 8亚巴郎遂对罗特说：「在我与你，我的牧人与你的牧人之间，请不要发生口角，因为我们是至亲。 | 8Abram said to Lot, "Don't let there be a dispute between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and yours, since we are brothers! |
| 9所有的地方不是都在你面前吗？请你与我分开。你若往左，我就往右；你若往右，我就往左。」 | 9Isn't the whole land there before you? Let us part company. If you go to the left, I will go to the right; if you go to the right, I will go to the left." |
| 10罗特举目看见约但河整个平原，直到左哈尔一带全有水灌溉，──这是在上主消灭索多玛和哈摩辣以前的事，──有如上主的乐园，有如埃及地。 | 10Lot looked up and saw the whole valley of the Jordan: how well it was watered! Before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, this was like one of Yahweh's gardens, like the country of Egypt, on coming to Zoar. |
| 11罗特选了约但河的整个平原，遂向东方迁移；这样，他们就彼此分开了： | 11Lot chose for himself all the Jordan valley and journeyed eastward. In this way they separated from each other. |
| 12亚巴郎住在客纳罕地；罗特住在平原的城市中，渐渐移动帐幕，直到索多玛。 | 12Abram settled in the country of Canaan while Lot lived among the towns of the plain and moved his tent as far as Sodom. |
| 13索多玛人在上主面前罪大恶极。 | 13Now the men of Sodom were wicked, sinning greatly against Yahweh. |
| 14罗特与亚巴郎分离以后，上主对亚巴郎说：「请你举起眼来，由你所在的地方，向东西南北观看； | 14Yahweh said to Abram after Lot had left him, "Raise your eyes and look from where you are, towards the north, the south, the east and the west; |
| 15凡你看见的地方，我都要永远赐给你和你的后裔。 | 15all the land you see I will give to you and your descendants forever. |
| 16我要使你的后裔有如地上的灰尘；如果人能数清地上的灰尘，也能数清你的后裔。 | 16I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; if the grains of the dust can be counted, then your descendants may be counted. |
| 17你起来，纵横走遍这地，因为我要将这地赐给你。」 | 17Come, travel through the length and breadth of the land, for it is to you that I am giving it." |
| 18于是亚巴郎移动了帐幕，来到赫贝龙的玛默勒橡树区居住，在那里给上主筑了一座祭坛。 | 18So Abram moved his tent and came to live by the oak of Mamre at Hebron. There he built an altar to Yahweh. |
