创世纪	Genesis
¹在起初天主创造了天地。	¹In the beginning, when God began to create the heavens and the earth,
²大地还是混沌空虚，深渊上还是一团黑暗，天主的神在水面上运行。	²the earth had no form and was void; darkness was over the deep and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.
³天主说：「有光！」就有了光。	³God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
⁴天主见光好，就将光与黑暗分开。	⁴God saw that the light was good and he separated the light from the darkness.
⁵天主称光为「昼」，称黑暗为「夜」。过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第一天。	⁵God called the light 'Day' and the darkness 'Night'. There was evening and there was morning: the first day.
⁶天主说：「在水与水之间要有穹苍，将水分开！」事就这样成了。	⁶God said, "Let there be a firm ceiling between the waters and let it separate waters from waters."
⁷天主造了穹苍，分开了穹苍以下的水和穹苍以上的水。	⁷So God made the ceiling and separated the waters below it from the waters above it. And so it was.
⁸天主称穹苍为「天」，天主看了认为好。过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第二天。	⁸God called the firm ceiling 'Sky'. There was evening and there was morning: the second day.
⁹天主说：「天下的水应聚在一处，使旱地出现！」事就这样成了。	⁹God said, "Let the waters below the sky be gathered together in one place and let dry land appear." And so it was.
¹⁰天主称旱地为「陆地」，称水汇合处为「海洋」。天主看了认为好。	¹⁰God called the dry land 'Earth', and the waters gathered together he called 'Seas'. God saw that it was good.
¹¹天主说：「在陆地上，土地要出生青草、结种子的蔬菜和结果子的果树，各按照在它内的种子的种类！」事就这样成了。	¹¹God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation, seed-bearing plants, fruittrees bearing fruit with seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth." And so it was.
¹²土地就出生了青草、结种子的蔬菜，各按其类，和结果子的树木，各按照在它内的种子的种类。天主看了认为好。	¹²The earth produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kind and trees producing fruit which has seed, according to their kind. God saw that it was good.
¹³过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第三天。	¹³There was evening and there was morning: the third day.
¹⁴天主说：「在天空中要有光体，以分别昼夜，作为规定时节和年月日的记号。	¹⁴God said, "Let there be lights in the ceiling of the sky to separate day from night and to serve as signs for the seasons, days and years;
¹⁵要在天空中放光，照耀大地！」事就这样成了。	¹⁵and let these lights in the sky shine above the earth." And so it was.
¹⁶天主于是造了两个大光体：较大的控制白天，较小的控制黑夜，并造了星宿。	¹⁶God therefore made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the smaller light to govern the night; and God made the stars as well.
¹⁷天主将星宿摆列在天空，照耀大地，	¹⁷God placed them in the ceiling of the sky to give light on the earth
¹⁸控制昼夜，分别明与暗。天主看了认为好。	¹⁸and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
¹⁹过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第四天。	¹⁹There was evening and there was morning: the fourth day.
²⁰天主说：「水中要繁生蠕动的生物，地面上、天空中要有鸟飞翔！」事就这样成了。	²⁰God said, "Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth under the ceiling of the sky."
²¹天主于是造了大鱼和所有在水中孳生的蠕动生物，各按其类，以及各种飞鸟，各按其类。天主看了认为好。	²¹God created the great monsters of the sea and all living animals, those that teem in the waters, according to their kind, and every winged bird, according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
²²遂祝福牠们说：「你们要孳生繁殖，充满海洋；飞鸟也要在地上繁殖！」	²²God blessed them saying, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the waters of the sea, and let the birds increase on the earth."
²³过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第五天。	²³There was evening and there was morning: the fifth day.
²⁴天主说：「地上要生出生物，各按其类；走兽、爬虫和地上各种生物，各按其类！」事就这样成了。	²⁴God said, "Let the earth produce living animals according to their kind: cattle, creatures that move along the ground, wild animals according to their kind." So it was.
²⁵天主于是造了地上的生物，各按其类；各种走兽，各按其类；以及地上所有的爬虫，各按其类。天主看了认为好。	²⁵God created the wild animals according to their kind, and everything that creeps along the ground according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
²⁶天主说：「让我们照我们的肖像，按我们的模样造人，叫他管理海中的鱼、天空的飞鸟、牲畜、各种野兽、在地上爬行的各种爬虫。」	²⁶God said, "Let us make man in our image, to our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over the wild animals, and over all creeping things that crawl along the ground."
²⁷天主于是照自己的肖像造了人，就是照天主的肖像造了人：造了一男一女。	²⁷So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
²⁸天主祝福他们说：「你们要生育繁殖，充满大地，治理大地，管理海中的鱼、天空的飞鸟、各种在地上爬行的生物！」	²⁸God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it, rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, over every living creature that moves on the ground."
²⁹天主又说：「看，全地面上结种子的各种蔬菜，在果内含有种子的各种果树，我都给你们作食物；	²⁹God said, "I have given you every seed-bearing plant which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree that bears fruit with seed. It will be for your food.
³⁰至于地上的各种野兽，天空中的各种飞鸟，在地上爬行有生魂的各种动物，我把一切青草给牠们作食物。」事就这样成了。	³⁰To every wild animal, to every bird of the sky, to everything that creeps along the ground, to everything that has the breath of life, I give every green plant for food." So it was.
³¹天主看了他造的一切，认为样样都很好。过了晚上，过了早晨，这是第六天。	³¹God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. There was evening and there was morning: the sixth day.
