| 1依撒格叫了雅各伯来，祝福他，吩咐他说：「你不要娶客纳罕女人为妻。 | 1Isaac summoned Jacob and blessed him and commanded him, "Do not marry a Canaanite woman. |
| 2你应起身往帕丹阿兰你外祖父贝突耳家去，在那里娶你舅父拉班的女儿为妻。 | 2Go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel, your mother's father, and choose a wife for yourself from the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother. |
| 3愿全能的天主祝福你，使你生育繁殖，成为一大家族。 | 3May God Almighty bless you and make you increase to become a group of nations. |
| 4愿天主将亚巴郎的祝福赐与你和你的后裔，使你承受你所住的地方，即天主赐与亚巴郎的土地作为产业。」 | 4May he grant you and your descendants the blessings of Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you live now, and that Yahweh gave to Abraham. |
| 5依撒格就这样打发了雅各伯往帕丹阿兰，投往阿兰人贝突耳的儿子拉班，即雅各伯和厄撒乌的母亲黎贝加的哥哥那里去了。 | 5Isaac sent Jacob away and he went to Paddan-aram to Laban, the son of Bethuel, the Aramean, brother to Rebekah. |
| 6厄撒乌见依撒格祝福了雅各伯，打发他到帕丹阿兰去，在那里娶妻；祝福他时还吩咐他说：「不要娶客纳罕女人为妻。」 | 6Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to choose a wife for himself, and in blessing him had commanded him, "Do not marry a Canaanite woman." |
| 7厄撒乌见雅各伯听从父母的命，往帕丹阿兰去了， | 7And in obedience to his father and mother, Jacob had gone to Paddan-aram. |
| 8便明白父亲依撒格不喜欢客纳罕女子。 | 8So Esau understood how displeasing the Canaanite women were to his father Isaac. |
| 9所以他去了依市玛耳那里，除自己所有的两个妻子外，又娶了亚巴郎之子依市玛耳的女儿乃巴约特的妹妹玛哈拉特为妻。 | 9So he went to Ishmael and chose a wife for himself besides those he already had - Mahalath, daughter of Ishmael, son of Abraham and sister of Nebaioth. |
| 10雅各伯离开贝尔舍巴，往哈兰去了。 | 10Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. |
| 11他来到一个地方，因太阳已落，就在那里过宿，随地拿了一块石头，放在头底下，就在那地方躺下睡了。 | 11When he reached a certain place the sun had set and he spent the night there. He took one of the stones that were there and using it as a pillow, he lay down to sleep. |
| 12他作了一梦：见一个梯子直立在地上，梯顶与天相接；天主的使者在梯子上，上去下来。 | 12While Jacob was sleeping, he had a dream in which a ladder stood on the earth with its top reaching to heaven and on it were angels of God going up and coming down. |
| 13上主立在梯子上说：「我是上主，你父亚巴郎的天主，依撒格的天主。我要将你所躺的地方，赐给你和你的后裔。 | 13And Yahweh was standing there near him and said, "I am Yahweh, the God of your father, Abraham, and the God of Isaac. The land on which you sleep, I give to you and your descendants. |
| 14你的后裔要多得如地上的灰尘；你要向东西南北扩展，地上的万民都要因你和你的后裔蒙受祝福。 | 14Your descendants will be numerous like the specks of dust of the earth and you will spread out to the west and the east, to the north and the south. Through you and your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. |
| 15看我与你同在；你不论到那里，我必护佑你，领你回到此地。我决不离弃你，直到我实践了我对你所许的。」 | 15See, I am with you and I will keep you safe wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land and not leave you until I have done what I promised." |
| 16雅各伯一觉醒来，说：「上主实在在这地方，我竟不知道。」 | 16Jacob woke from his dream and said, "Truly Yahweh was in this place and I was not aware of it." |
| 17他又满怀敬畏地说：「这地方多么可畏！这里不是别处，乃是天主的住所，上天之门。」 | 17He was afraid and said, "How full of awe is this place! It is nothing less than a House of God; it is the Gate to Heaven!" |
| 18雅各伯清早一起来，就把那块放在头底下的石头，立作石柱，在顶上倒了油， | 18Then Jacob rose early and took the stone he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. |
| 19给那地方起名叫贝特耳，原先那城名叫路次。 | 19He named that place Bethel although before that it was called Luz. |
| 20然后雅各伯许愿说：「若是天主与我同在，在我所走的路上护佑我，赐我丰衣足食， | 20Then Jacob made a vow, "If Yahweh will be with me and keep me safe during this journey I am making, if he gives me bread to eat and clothes to wear, |
| 21使我平安回到父家，上主实在当是我的天主。 | 21and if I return in peace to my father's house, then Yahweh will be my God. |
| 22我立作石柱的这块石头，必要成为天主的住所；凡你赐与我的，我必给你奉献十分之一。」 | 22This stone which I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me, I will give back a tenth." |
