¹雅各伯取道前行，来到了东方人的地方；	¹Jacob set out and came to the land of the people of the east.
²举目看见田间有口井，还有三群羊，卧在井旁。──因为人惯常由这井取水饮羊，井口上盖着块大石头；	²There he saw a well and lying beside the well were three flocks of sheep, for it was at this well that the flocks were watered, and a large stone covered the mouth of the well.
³几时羊群都聚集在那里，人就将井口的石头挪开，取水饮羊；然后再将石头盖在井口原处。	³Then when all the flocks gathered there, the shepherds rolled away the stone from the opening of the well, watered their flocks and replaced the stone at the mouth of the well.
⁴雅各伯对他们说：「弟兄们，你们是那里的？」他们答说：「我们是哈兰人。」	⁴Jacob said to them, "Brothers, where are you from?" "We are from Haran," they replied.
⁵雅各伯问他们说：「你们认识纳曷尔的儿子拉班吗？」他们答说：「我们认识。」	⁵He then said, "Do you know Laban, Nahor's son?" "Yes, we know him," they replied.
⁶雅各伯又问说：「他好吗？」他们答说：「他好。看，那不是他的女儿辣黑耳领着羊群来了。」	⁶And Jacob asked, "Is he well?" "Yes, he is well," they said, "and here is Rachel, his daughter, coming with the sheep!"
⁷雅各伯说：「看，太阳还很高，尚不到聚集家畜的时候，你们取水饮了羊，然后再领去牧放。」	⁷Jacob then said, "Look! The sun is still high; it's not yet time for the flocks to be gathered together. Water the sheep and let them graze."
⁸他们回答说：「不能够；因为除非等所有羊群都聚集起来，才可挪开井口的石头，取水饮羊。」	⁸But they said, "We cannot do that until all the flocks are gathered together and the stone is rolled away from the mouth of the well; it's then we water the sheep."
⁹他还同他们说话的时候，辣黑耳领着他父亲的羊群到了；因为她是个牧羊女。	⁹He was still speaking when Rachel arrived with her father's flock, for she looked after them.
¹⁰雅各伯一见了舅父拉班的女儿辣黑耳，和舅父拉班的羊群，就上前去，挪开井口的石头，取水饮他舅父拉班的羊。	¹⁰As soon as Jacob saw Rachel he went forward and rolled the stone from the mouth of the well and then watered Laban's flock.
¹¹然后雅各伯口亲辣黑耳，放声大哭，	¹¹Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept aloud.
¹²告诉辣黑耳，自己是她父亲的外甥，黎贝加的儿子。辣黑耳便跑回去，告诉她父亲。	¹²Jacob told Rachel he was her father's kinsman and Rebekah's son, and she ran and told her father.
¹³拉班一听得了关于他外甥雅各伯的消息，就跑来迎接他，抱住他，亲他，领他到自己的家中。雅各伯遂将所遇的事全告诉了拉班。	¹³As soon as Laban heard the news about Jacob being his sister's son, he ran to meet him; and after embracing and kissing him he brought him into his house. Jacob told Laban all that had happened
¹⁴拉班对他说：「你实在是我的骨肉。」雅各伯遂同他住下了。过了一月，	¹⁴and Laban said to him, "Truly you are my bone and flesh!" And Jacob stayed there a month with him.
¹⁵拉班对雅各伯说：「岂可因为你是我的外甥，就该白白服事我？告诉我，你要什么报酬？」	¹⁵Laban said to Jacob, "Even if you are my kinsman, should you work for me for nothing? Tell me, what wages do you want?"
¹⁶拉班有两个女儿：大的名叫肋阿，小的名叫辣黑耳。	¹⁶Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older one was Leah and the name of the younger was Rachel.
¹⁷肋阿双眼无神；辣黑耳却相貌美丽；	¹⁷Leah's eyes were weak but Rachel had a lovely figure and was beautiful.
¹⁸为此雅各伯喜爱辣黑耳，遂回答说：「我愿为你小女儿辣黑耳服事你七年。」	¹⁸Jacob had fallen in love with Rachel and he said, "I will work for you for seven years in return for your younger daughter, Rachel."
¹⁹拉班答说：「我将她给你，比给外人好；你就同我住下。」	¹⁹Laban said, "It is better for me to give her to you than to any other man; stay with me."
²⁰这样，雅各伯为得到辣黑耳，服事了拉班七年；由于他喜爱这少女，看七年好像几天。	²⁰To win Rachel, Jacob worked for seven years which seemed to him only a few days, because he loved her so much.
²¹雅各伯遂对拉班说：「期限已满，请将我的妻子给我，我好与他亲近。」	²¹Jacob then said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for I have served my time and I want to lie with her."
²²拉班也请了当地所有的人士，摆了婚宴。	²²So Laban gathered together all the people of the place and gave a feast.
²³到了晚上，他却将自己的女儿肋阿，引到雅各伯前，雅各伯就亲近了她。──	²³But when night came he took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob and he lay with her.
²⁴拉班且将自己的婢女齐耳帕给了女儿肋阿作婢女。──	²⁴Laban gave his slave girl Zilpah to Leah to be her maid.
²⁵到了早晨，他一见是肋阿，便对拉班说：「你对我作的是什么事？我服事你，岂不是为了辣黑耳？你为什么欺骗我？」	²⁵When morning came, there was Leah! And Jacob said to Laban, "What have you done to me? Haven't I worked with you for Rachel? Why have you deceived me?"
²⁶拉班回答说：「我们这地方没有先嫁幼女，而后嫁长女的风俗。	²⁶Laban said, "It is not our custom to give the younger daughter before the firstborn.
²⁷你同长女满了七天以后，我也将幼女给你，只要你再服事我七年。」	²⁷As soon as the marriage week is over, I will give you my younger daughter as well, but you must work with me for another seven years.
²⁸雅各伯就这样做了。与肋阿满了七天以后，拉班便将自己的女儿辣黑耳给了他为妻。──	²⁸Jacob agreed to this and when he completed the week with Leah, Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife.
²⁹拉班且将自己的婢女彼耳哈给了女儿辣黑耳作婢女。──	²⁹Laban gave Rachel his slave girl, Bilhah, to be her maidservant.
³⁰雅各伯也亲近了辣黑耳，而且他爱辣黑耳甚于肋阿；于是又服事了拉班七年。	³⁰So Jacob slept with Rachel as well, and he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he continued working for Laban another seven years.
³¹上主见肋阿失宠，便开了她的胎；但辣黑耳却荒胎不孕。	³¹As Yahweh saw that Leah was not loved, he let her have children; but Rachel was barren.
³²肋阿怀孕生了一子，给他起名叫勒乌本，说：「上主垂视了我的苦衷，现在我的丈夫会爱我了。」	³²Leah gave birth to a child and named him Reuben, for she said, "Because the Lord has seen my affliction; my husband is sure to love me now."
³³她又怀孕生了一子，说：「上主听说我失了宠，又给了我一个。」遂给他起名叫西默盎。	³³She gave birth to another son and said, "Yahweh saw that I was neglected and has given me this son as well"; and she called him Simeon.
³⁴她又怀孕生了一子，说：「这次，我的丈夫可要恋住我了，因为我已给他生了三个儿子。」遂给他起名叫肋未。	³⁴Again she gave birth to a son and said, "This time my husband will be united to me because I have borne him three sons." That is why he was called Levi.
³⁵她又怀孕生了一子，说：「这次我要赞颂上主。」为此给他起名叫犹大。以后就停止生育。	³⁵She again gave birth to a son and said: "This time I will praise Yahweh." That is why she named him Judah. After that she had no more children.
