¹亚当认识了自己的妻子厄娃，厄娃怀了孕，生了加音说：「我赖上主获得了一个人。」	¹Adam had intercourse with Eve his wife; she became pregnant and gave birth to a child. She named him Cain, for she said, "I have got a man with help from Yahweh."
²以后她生了加音的弟弟亚伯尔；亚伯尔牧羊，加音耕田。	²She later gave birth to Abel, his brother. Abel was a shepherd and kept flocks, and Cain tilled the soil.
³有一天，加音把田地的出产作祭品献给天主；	³It happened after a time that Cain brought fruits of the soil as an offering to Yahweh.
⁴同时亚伯尔献上自己羊群中最肥美而又是首生的羊；上主惠顾了亚伯尔和他的祭品，	⁴Abel for his part brought the firstborn of his flock, and some fat as well. Now Yahweh was well pleased with Abel and his offering,
⁵却没有惠顾加音和他的祭品；因此加音大怒，垂头丧气。	⁵but towards Cain and his offering he showed no pleasure. This made Cain very angry and downcast.
⁶上主对加音说：「你为什么发怒？为什么垂头丧气？	⁶Then Yahweh said to Cain, "Why are you angry and downcast?
⁷你若做得好，岂不也可仰起头来？你若做得不好，罪恶就伏在你门前，企图对付你，但你应制服它。」	⁷If you do right, why do you not look up? But if you are not doing what is right, sin is lurking at the door. It is striving to get you, but you must control it."
⁸事后加音对他弟弟亚伯尔说：「我们到田间去！」当他们在田间的时候，加音就袭击了弟弟亚伯尔，将他杀死。	⁸Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go to the fields." Once there, Cain turned on his brother Abel and killed him.
⁹上主对加音说：「你弟弟亚伯尔在那里？」他答说：「我不知道，难道我是看守我弟弟的人？」	⁹Yahweh said to Cain, "Where is your brother, Abel?" He answered, "I don't know; am I my brother's keeper?"
¹⁰上主说：「你作了什么事？听！你弟弟的血由地上向我喊冤。	¹⁰Yahweh asked, "What have you done? Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
¹¹你现在是地上所咒骂的人，地张开口由你手中接收了你弟弟的血，	¹¹Now be cursed and driven from the ground that has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood that your hand has shed.
¹²从此你即使耕种，地也不会给你出产；你在地上要成个流离失所的人。」	¹²When you till the soil, it will no longer yield you its produce. You will be a fugitive wandering on the earth."
¹³加音对上主说：「我的罪罚太重，无法承担。	¹³Cain said to Yahweh, "My punishment is greater than I can bear.
¹⁴看你今天将我由这地面上驱逐，我该躲避你的面，在地上成了个流离失所的人；那么凡遇见我的，必要杀我。」	¹⁴See! Today you drive me from this land. I must hide from you and be a wanderer and a fugitive on the earth, and it will so happen that whoever meets me will kill me."
¹⁵上主对他说：「决不这样，凡杀加音的人，一定要受七倍的罚。」上主遂给加音一个记号，以免遇见他的人击杀他。	¹⁵Yahweh said to him, "Well then, whoever kills Cain, will suffer vengeance seven times." And Yahweh put a mark on Cain to prevent anyone who met him from killing him.
¹⁶加音就离开上主的面，住在伊甸东方的诺得地方。	¹⁶Cain then went from Yahweh's presence and settled in the land of Nod, to the east of Eden.
¹⁷加音认识了自己的妻子，她怀了孕，生了哈诺客。加音建筑了一座城，即以他儿子的名字，给这城起名叫「哈诺客」。	¹⁷Cain had intercourse with his wife; she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. As he was building a town, he called it by the name of his son, Enoch.
¹⁸哈诺客生了依辣得；依辣得生了默胡雅耳；默胡雅耳生了默突沙耳；默突沙耳生了拉默客。	¹⁸A son, Irad, was born to Enoch. Irad became father of Mehujael, and Mehujael of Methuael, and Methuael of Lamech.
¹⁹拉默客娶了两个妻子：一个名叫阿达，一个名叫漆拉。	¹⁹Lamech had two wives, Adah and Zillah.
²⁰阿达生了雅巴耳，他是住在帐幕内畜牧者的始祖。	²⁰Adah gave birth to Jabel: he was father to those who live in tents and keep flocks.
²¹他的弟弟名叫犹巴耳，他是所有弹琴吹箫者的始祖。	²¹His brother was Jubal: he was father to all those who play the lyre and flute.
²²同时漆拉也生了突巴耳加音，他是制造各种铜铁器具的匠人。突巴耳加音有个姊妹名叫纳阿玛。	²²As for Zillah, she gave birth to Tubal-Cain, forger of all tools in bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
²³拉默客对自己的妻子说：「阿达和漆拉倾听我的声音，拉默客的妻子，静聆我的言语：因我受伤，杀了一成年；因我受损，杀了一青年；	²³Lamech said to his wives: "Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; wives of Lamech, listen to what I say, for I killed a man for wounding me and a boy for striking me.
²⁴杀加音的受罚是七倍，杀拉默客的是七十七倍。」	²⁴If Cain will be avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times."
²⁵亚当又认识了自己的妻子，她生了个儿子，给他起名叫舍特说：「天主又赐给了我一个儿子，代替加音杀了的亚伯尔。」	²⁵Adam again had intercourse with his wife and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth; for she said, "Yahweh has given me another child in place of Abel since Cain killed him."
²⁶舍特也生了一个儿子，给他起名叫厄诺士。那时人才开始呼求上主的名。	²⁶To Seth also a son was born and he called him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of Yahweh.
