| 1上主由旋风中向约伯发言说： | 1Then Yahweh answered Job out of the storm: |
| 2用无知的话，使我的计划模糊不明的是谁？ | 2Who is this that obscures divine plans with ignorant words? |
| 3你要像勇士束好你的腰，我要问你，请指教我！ | 3Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you and you must answer. |
| 4我奠定大地的基础时，你在那里？你若聪明，尽管说罢！ | 4Where were you when I founded the earth? Answer, and show me your knowledge. |
| 5你知道是谁制定了地的度量，是谁在地上拉了准绳？ | 5Do you know who determined its size, who stretched out its measuring line? |
| 6地的基础置在何处，是谁立了地的角石？ | 6On what were its bases set? Who laid its cornerstone, |
| 7当时星辰一起歌咏，天主的众子同声欢呼！ | 7while the morning stars sang together and the sons of God shouted for joy? |
| 8海水汹涌如出母胎时，是谁用门将海关闭？ | 8Who shut the sea behind closed doors when it burst forth from the womb, |
| 9是我用云彩作海的衣裳，用浓雾作海的襁褓。 | 9when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling clothes; |
| 10是我给海划定了界限，设立了门和闩， | 10when I set its limits with doors and bars in place, |
| 11并下令说：「你到此为止，不得越过；你的狂潮到此为止。」 | 11when I said, "You will not go beyond these bounds; here is where your proud waves must halt?" |
| 12你有生之日，何尝给晨光出过命令，又何尝使曙光知道它之所生？ | 12Have you ever commanded the morning, or shown the dawn its place, |
| 13何尝使光握紧大地四角，将恶人从那里抖出去？ | 13that it might grasp the earth by its edges and shake the wicked out of it, |
| 14曙光改变大地，如在胶泥上盖印；使万物出现，如着锦衣； | 14when it takes a clay color and changes its tint like a garment; |
| 15撤去恶人的光明，折断高举的手。 | 15when the wicked are denied their own light, and their proud arm is shattered? |
| 16你曾否到过海的源流，走过深渊的底处？ | 16Have you journeyed to where the sea begins or walked in its deepest recesses? |
| 17死亡的门给你开启过吗？你见过死影之门吗？ | 17Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of Shadow? |
| 18你知道大地的广阔吗？你若知道，请你说罢！ | 18Have you an idea of the breadth of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this. |
| 19赴光明之所的路是那一条，黑暗的住处在那里？ | 19Where is the way to the home of light, and where does darkness dwell? |
| 20你知道如何引导黑暗到自己的境地，领黑暗回到自己居所的道路上吗？ | 20Can you take them to their own regions, and set them on their homeward paths? |
| 21你总该知道，因为你那时已诞生了，而你的年岁已很高。 | 21You know, for you were born before them, and great is the number of your years! |
| 22你到过雪库，见过雹仓吗？ | 22Have you entered the storehouse of the snow or seen the storehouse of the hail, |
| 23那是我为降灾之时，为战争之日所存放的。 | 23which I reserve for times of woe, for days of war and battle? |
| 24云雾由那条路散开，东风由那条路吹往大地？ | 24What is the way to the place where lightning is dispersed, or the place whence the east wind begins spreading over the earth? |
| 25谁为暴雨启开闸门，谁为雷电指示道路， | 25Who has cut a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, |
| 26好使雨落在无人之境，降在无人的荒野， | 26to bring rain to no-man's-land and to the unpeopled wilderness, |
| 27为润泽荒野干旱之地，好使原野中的绿草生长？ | 27to enrich the wasted and desolate ground, to make the desert bloom with green? |
| 28雨有父亲吗？谁生了露珠？ | 28Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew? |
| 29冰出自谁的胎？天上的霜是谁生的？ | 29From whose womb comes the ice, and who gives birth to the frost from the skies, |
| 30水怎样凝结如石？深渊的表面怎样固结？ | 30when the waters lie as hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen? |
| 31你岂能拴住昴宿的纽结，解开参星的绳索？ | 31Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loosen the bonds of Orion? |
| 32你岂能使晨星按时升出，引导北斗和它的星群？ | 32Can you guide the morning star in its season, or lead the Bear with its train? |
| 33你岂知道天体的定律，立定天律以管治大地？ | 33Do you know the laws of the heavens, and can you establish their rule on earth? |
| 34你岂能使你的声音上达云霄，使雨水沛然降在你处？ | 34Can you raise your voice to the clouds and order their waters to pour down? |
| 35你能否一发令，闪电就发出，且向你说：「我们在这里！」 | 35Will lightnings flash at your command and report to you, "Here we are?" |
| 36谁将聪明给与鹳鸟，将智慧赋与雄鸡？ | 36Who has given the ibis foresight or endowed the cock with foreknowledge? |
| 37当土壤坚固，泥块凝结之时， | 37Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who tilts the water jars of heaven |
| 38谁能凭智力数清云彩，能倾倒天上的水囊？ | 38so that the dust cakes into a mass and clods of earth stick together? |
| 39当狮子伏于洞穴，卧于丛林埋伏的时候， | 39Can you hunt the woods to appease the hunger of the lioness and her whelps, |
| 40你是否能为牝狮猎取食物，满足幼狮的食欲？ | 40as they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in the thicket? |
| 41当雏鸦无食，往还飞翔，向天主哀鸣的时候，谁能为乌鸦备食？ | 41Who provides prey for the raven when its young cry out to God and roam about desperate for food? |
