| 1耶稣说完了这些话，就和门徒出去，到了克德龙溪的对岸，在那里有一个园子，他和门徒便进去了。 | 1When Jesus had finished speaking, he went with his disciples to the other side of the Kidron Valley. There was a garden there where Jesus entered with his disciples. |
| 2出卖他的犹达斯也知道那地方，因为耶稣同门徒曾屡次在那里聚集。 | 2Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place since Jesus had often met there with his disciples. |
| 3犹达斯便领了一队兵和由司祭長及法利塞人派来的差役，带着火把、灯笼与武器，来到那里。 | 3He led soldiers of the Roman battalion and guards from the chief priests and Pharisees, who went there with lanterns, torches and weapons. |
| 4耶稣既知道要临到他身上的一切事，便上前去问他们说：「你们找谁？」 | 4Jesus knew all that was going to happen to him; he stepped forward and asked, "Who are you looking for?" |
| 5他们答复说：「纳匝肋人耶稣。」他向他们说：「我就是」。出卖他的犹达斯也同他们站在一起。 | 5They answered, "Jesus the Nazarene." Jesus said, "I am he." Judas, who betrayed him, stood there with them. |
| 6耶稣一对他们说了「我就是」，他们便倒退跌在地上。 | 6When Jesus said, "I am he," they moved back and fell to the ground. |
| 7于是他又问他们说：「你们找谁？」他们说：「纳匝肋人耶稣。」 | 7He then asked a second time, "Who are you looking for?" and they answered, "Jesus the Nazarene." |
| 8耶稣答复说：「我已给你们说了『我就是』；你们既然找我，就让这些人去罢！」 | 8Jesus replied, "I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, let these others go." |
| 9这是为应验他先前所说的话：「你赐给我的人，其中我没有丧失一个。」 | 9So what Jesus had said came true: "I have not lost one of those you gave me." |
| 10西满伯多禄有一把剑，就拔出来，向大司祭的一个仆人砍去，削下了他的右耳；那仆人名叫玛耳曷。 | 10Simon Peter had a sword; he drew it and struck Malchus, the High Priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. |
| 11耶稣就对伯多禄说：「把剑收入鞘内！父赐给我的杯，我岂能不喝吗？」 | 11But Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me?" |
| 12于是兵队、千夫长和犹太人的差役拘捕了耶稣，把他綑起来， | 12The guards and the soldiers, with their commander, seized Jesus and bound him; |
| 13先解送到亚纳斯那里，亚纳斯是那一年当大司祭的盖法的岳父。 | 13and they took him first to Annas. Annas was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was the High Priest that year; |
| 14就是这个盖法曾给犹太人出过主意：叫一个人替百姓死，是有利的。 | 14and it was Caiaphas who had told the Jews: "It is better that one man should die for the people." |
| 15那时，西满伯多禄同另一个门徒跟着耶稣；那门徒是大司祭所认识的，便同耶稣一起进了大司祭的庭院， | 15Simon Peter with another disciple followed Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the High Priest, they let him enter the courtyard of the High Priest along with Jesus, |
| 16伯多禄却站在门外；大司祭认识的那个门徒遂出来，对看门的侍女说了一声，就领伯多禄进去。 | 16but Peter had to stay outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the High Priest went out and spoke to the maidservant at the gate and brought Peter in. |
| 17那看门的侍女对伯多禄说：「你不也是这人的一个门徒吗？」他说：「我不是。」 | 17Then, this servant on duty at the door said to Peter, "So you also are one of his disciples?" But he answered, "I am not." |
| 18那时，仆人和差役，因为天冷就生了炭火，站着烤火取煖；伯多禄也同他们站在一起，烤火取煖。 | 18Now the servants and the guards had made a charcoal fire and were standing and warming themselves, because it was cold. Peter was also with them warming himself. |
| 19大司祭就有关他的门徒和他的教义审问耶稣。 | 19The High Priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. |
| 20耶稣答复他说：「我向来公开地对世人讲话，我常常在会堂和圣殿内，即众犹太人所聚集的地方施教，在暗地里我并没有讲过什么。 | 20Jesus answered him, "I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in places where the Jews meet together, either at the assemblies in synagogues or in the Temple. I did not teach secretly. |
| 21你为什么问我？你问那些听过我的人，我给他们讲了什么；他们知道我所说的。」 | 21Why then do you ask me? Ask those who heard me, they know what I said." |
| 22他刚说完这话，侍立在旁的一个差役，就给了耶稣一个耳光，说：「你就这样答复大司祭吗？」 | 22At this reply one of the guards standing by gave Jesus a blow on the face, saying, "Is that the way to answer the High Priest?" |
| 23耶稣答复他说：「我若说得不对，你指证那里不对；若对，你为什么打我？」 | 23Jesus said to him, "If I have spoken wrongly, point it out; but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?" |
| 24亚纳斯遂把被捆的耶稣，解送到大司祭盖法那里去。 | 24Then Annas sent him, bound, to Caiaphas, the High Priest. |
| 25西满伯多禄仍站着烤火取煖，于是有人向他说：「你不也是他门徒中的一个吗？」伯多禄否认说：「我不是。」 | 25Now Simon Peter stood there warming himself. They said to him, "Surely you also are one of his disciples." He denied it and answered, "I am not." |
| 26有大司祭的一个仆役，是伯多禄削下耳朵的那人的亲戚，对他说：「我不是在山园中看见你同他在一起吗？」 | 26One of the High Priest's servants, a kinsman of the one whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, "Did I not see you with him in the garden?" |
| 27伯多禄又否认了，立时鸡就叫了。 | 27Again Peter denied it, and at once the cock crowed. |
| 28然后他们从盖法那里把耶稣解往总督府，那时是清晨；他们自己却没有进入总督府，怕受了沾污，而不能吃逾越节的羔羊。 | 28Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the court of the Roman governor. It was now morning. The Jews didn't enter lest they be made unclean (by coming into the house of a pagan) and be unable to eat the Passover meal. |
| 29因此，比拉多出来，到外面向他们说：「你们对这人提出什么控告？」 | 29So Pilate went out and asked, "What charge do you bring against this man?" They answered, |
| 30他们回答说：「如果这人不是作恶的，我们便不会把他交给你。」 | 30"If he were not a criminal, we would not be handing him over to you." |
| 31比拉多便对他们说：「你们自己把他带去，按照你们的法律审判他罢！」犹太人回答说：「我们是不许处死任何人的！」 | 31Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him according to your own law." But they replied, "We ourselves are not allowed to put anyone to death." |
| 32这是为应验耶稣论及自己将怎样死去而说过的话。 | 32It was clear from this what kind of death Jesus was to die, according to what Jesus himself had foretold. |
| 33比拉多于是又进了总督府，叫了耶稣来，对他说：「你是犹太人的君王吗？」 | 33Pilate then entered the court again, called Jesus and asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" |
| 34耶稣答复说：「这话是你由自己说的，或是别人论我而对你说的？」 | 34Jesus replied, "Does this word come from you, or did you hear it from others?" |
| 35比拉多答说：「莫非我是个犹太人？你的民族和司祭长把你交付给我，你作了什么？」 | 35Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?" |
| 36耶稣回答说：「我的国不属于这世界；假使我的国属于这世界，我的臣民早已反抗了，使我不至于被交给犹太人；但是，我的国不是这世界的。」 | 36Jesus answered, "My kingship does not come from this world. If I were king like those of this world, my guards would have fought to save me from being handed over to the Jews. But my kingship is not from here." |
| 37于是比拉多对他说：「那么，你就是君王了？」耶稣回答说：「你说的是，我是君王。我为此而生，我也为此而来到世界上，为给真理作证：凡属于真理的，必听从我的声音。」 | 37Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" And Jesus answered, "Just as you say, I am a king. For this I was born and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is on the side of truth hears my voice." |
| 38比拉多遂说：「什么是真理？」说了这话，再出去到犹太人那里，向他们说：「我在这人身上查不出什么罪状来。 | 38Pilate said, "What is truth?" Pilate then went out to the Jews again and said, "I find no crime in this man. |
| 39你们有个惯例：在逾越节我该给你们释放一人；那么，你们愿意我给你们释放犹太人的君王吗？」 | 39Now, according to a custom, I must release a prisoner of yours at the Passover. With your agreement I will release for you the King of the Jews." |
| 40他们就大声喊说：「不要这人，而要巴辣巴！」巴辣巴原是个强盗。 | 40But they insisted and cried out, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber. |
