| 1那时，分封侯黑落德听到耶稣的名声， | 1At that time the news about Jesus reached King Herod. |
| 2就对他的臣仆说：「这是洗者若翰，他由死者中复活了；为此，这些奇能才在他身上运行。」 | 2And he said to his servants, "This man is John the Baptist. John has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him." |
| 3原来，黑落德为了他兄弟斐理伯的妻子黑落狄雅的原故，逮捕了若翰，把他囚在监里， | 3Herod had, in fact, ordered that John be arrested, bound in chains and put in prison because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. |
| 4因为若翰曾给他说：「你不可占有这个女人！」 | 4For John had said to him, "It is not right for you to have her as wife." |
| 5黑落德本有意杀他，但害怕群众，因为他们都以若翰为先知。 | 5Herod wanted to kill him but he did not dare, because he feared the people who regarded John as a prophet. |
| 6到了黑落德的生日，黑落狄雅的女儿，在席间跳舞，中悦了黑落德； | 6On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst of the guests; she so delighted Herod |
| 7为此，黑落德发誓许下，她无论求什么，都要给她。 | 7that he promised under oath to give her anything she asked. |
| 8她受了她母亲的唆使后，就说：「请就地把若翰的头放在盘子里给我！」 | 8The girl, following the advice of her mother, said, "Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a dish." |
| 9王十分忧郁，但为了誓言和同席的人，就下令给她。 | 9The king was very displeased, but because he had made this promise under oath in the presence of the guests, he ordered it to be given her. |
| 10遂差人在监里斩了若翰的头， | 10So he had John beheaded in prison |
| 11把头放在盘子里拿来，给了女孩；女孩便拿去给了她母亲。 | 11and his head brought on a dish and given to the girl. The girl then took it to her mother. |
| 12若翰的门徒前来，领了尸身，埋葬了，然后去报告给耶稣。 | 12Then John's disciples came to take his body and bury it. And they went to bring the news to Jesus. |
| 13耶稣一听说这消息，就从那里上船，私下退到荒野地方；群众听说了，就从各城里步行跟了他去。 | 13On hearing this, Jesus set out secretly by boat for a secluded place. But the people heard of it, and they followed him on foot from their towns. |
| 14他一下船，看见一大伙群众，便对他们动了怜悯的心，治好了他们的病人。 | 14When Jesus went ashore, he saw the crowd gathered there and he had compassion on them. And he healed their sick. |
| 15到了傍晚，门徒到他跟前说：「这地方是荒野，时候已不早了，请你遣散群众罢！叫他们各自到村庄去买食物。」 | 15Late in the afternoon, his disciples came to him and said, "We are in a lonely place and it is now late. You should send these people away, so they can go to the villages and buy something for themselves to eat." |
| 16耶稣却对他们说：「他们不必去，你们给他们吃的罢！」 | 16But Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat." |
| 17门徒对他说：「我们这里什么也没有，只有五个饼和两条鱼。」 | 17They answered, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fishes." |
| 18耶稣说：「你们给我拿到这里来！」 | 18Jesus said to them, "Bring them here to me." |
| 19遂又吩咐群众坐在草地上，然后拿起那五个饼和两条鱼，望天祝福了；把饼擘开，递给门徒，门徒再分给群众。 | 19Then he made everyone sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fishes, raised his eyes to heaven, pronounced the blessing, broke the loaves and handed them to the disciples to distribute to the people. |
| 20众人吃了，也都饱了；然后他们把剩余的碎块收了满满十二筐。 | 20And they all ate, and everyone had enough; then the disciples gathered up the leftovers, filling twelve baskets. |
| 21吃的人数，除了妇女和小孩外，约有五千。 | 21About five thousand men had eaten there besides women and children. |
| 22耶稣即刻催迫门徒上船，在他以先到对岸去；这其间，他遣散了群众。 | 22Immediately Jesus obliged his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the crowd away. |
| 23耶稣遣散了群众以后，便私自上山祈祷去了。到了夜晚，他独自一人在那里。 | 23And having sent the people away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. At nightfall, he was there alone. |
| 24船已离岸几里了，受着波浪的颠簸，因为吹的是逆风。 | 24Meanwhile, the boat was very far from land, dangerously rocked by the waves for the wind was against it. |
| 25夜间四更时分，耶稣步行海上，朝着他们走来。 | 25At daybreak, Jesus came to them walking on the lake. |
| 26门徒看见他在海上行走，就惊骇说：「是个妖怪。」并且吓得大叫起来。 | 26When they saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, thinking that it was a ghost. And they cried out in fear. |
| 27耶稣立即向他们说道：「放心！是我。不必害怕！」 | 27But at once Jesus said to them, "Courage! Don't be afraid. It's me!" |
| 28伯多禄回答说：「主，如果是你，就叫我在水面上步行到你那里罢！」 | 28Peter answered, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you walking on the water." |
| 29耶稣说：「来罢！」伯多禄遂从船上下来，走在水面上，往耶稣那里去。 | 29Jesus said to him, "Come." And Peter got out of the boat, walking on the water to go to Jesus. |
| 30但他一见风势很强，就害怕起来，并开始下沉，遂大叫说：「主，救我罢！」 | 30But, in face of the strong wind, he was afraid and began to sink. So he cried out, "Lord, save me!" |
| 31耶稣立刻伸手拉住他，对他说：「小信德的人哪！你为什么怀疑？」 | 31Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and took hold of him, saying, "Man of little faith, why did you doubt?" |
| 32他们一上了船，风就停了。 | 32As they got into the boat, the wind dropped. |
| 33船上的人便朝拜他说：「你真是天主子。」 | 33Then those in the boat bowed down before Jesus saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God!" |
| 34他们渡到对岸，来到革乃撒勒地方。 | 34They came ashore at Gennesareth. |
| 35那地方的人一认出是耶稣，就打发人到周围整个地方，把一切患病的人，都带到耶稣跟前， | 35The local people recognized Jesus and spread the news throughout the region. So they brought all the sick to him, |
| 36求耶稣让他们只摸摸他的衣边；凡摸著的，就痊愈了。 | 36begging him to let them touch just the fringe of his cloak. All who touched it became perfectly well. |
