¹小撒慕尔在厄里面前服事上主；那时，上主的话少有，异象也罕见。	¹Now the child Samuel ministered to the Lord before Heli, and the word of the Lord was precious in those days, there was no manifest vision.
²有一天，厄里睡在自己的房里，他的眼睛渐渐昏花，已看不清了，	²And it came to pass one day when Heli lay in his place, and his eyes were grown dim, that he could not see:
³天主的灯尚未熄灭，撒慕尔睡在安放天主约柜的上主的殿内。	³Before the lamp of God went out, Samuel slept in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.
⁴那时，上主召叫说：「撒慕尔，撒慕尔！」他回答说：「我在这里！」	⁴And the Lord called Samuel. And he answered: Here am I.
⁵他就跑到厄里前说道：「你叫了我，我在这里。」厄里说：「我没有叫你，回去睡罢！」他就回去睡了。	⁵And he ran to Heli and said: Here am I: for thou didst call me. He said: I did not call: go back and sleep. And he went and slept.
⁶上主又叫撒慕尔；撒慕尔起来，走到厄里那里说道：「你叫了我，我在这里。」厄里对他说：「我儿，我没有叫你，回去睡罢！」	⁶And the Lord called Samuel again. And Samuel arose and went to Heli, and said: Here am I: for thou calledst me. He answered: I did not call thee, my son: return and sleep.
⁷撒慕尔不知道是上主，因为上主的话尚未启示给他。	⁷Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither had the word of the Lord been revealed to him.
⁸上主第三次又叫了撒慕尔；他起来，又走到厄里那里说道：「你叫了我，我在这里。」厄里于是明白，是上主叫了幼童，	⁸And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose up and went to Heli.
⁹便对撒慕尔说：「去睡罢！假使有人再叫你，你就回答说：请上主发言，你的仆人在此静听。」撒慕尔就回去，仍睡在原处。	⁹And said: Here am I: for thou didst call me. Then Heli understood that the Lord called the child, and he said to Samuel: Go, and sleep: and if he shall call thee any more, thou shalt say: Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and slept in his place.
¹⁰上主走近，像前几次一样召叫说：「撒慕尔，撒慕尔！」撒慕尔便回答说：「请上主发言！你的仆人在此静听。」	¹⁰And the Lord came and stood: and he called, as he had called the other times: Samuel, Samuel. And Samuel said: Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth.
¹¹上主遂对撒慕尔说：「看！我要在以色列行一件事，凡听见的人，他的两耳必要嗡嗡作响。	¹¹And the Lord said to Samuel: Behold I do a thing in Israel: and whosoever shall hear it, both his ears shall tingle.
¹²到那一天，我必对厄里从头到尾实践我论他的家族所说的一切话。	¹²In that day I will raise up against Heli all the things I have spoken concerning his house: I will begin, and I will make an end.
¹³你传报给他：我要处罚他的家族直到永远，因为他原知道他的两个儿子凌辱了天主，却未责斥他们。	¹³For I have foretold unto him, that I will judge his house for ever, for iniquity, because he knew that his sons did wickedly, and did not chastise them.
¹⁴因此，我对厄里的家族起誓：无论牺牲或供物，永不能抹去厄里一家的罪过。」	¹⁴Therefore have I sworn to the house of Heli, that the iniquity of his house shall not be expiated with victims nor offerings for ever.
¹⁵撒慕尔睡到早晨起来，开了上主圣殿的门；但害怕告诉厄里他所见的异象。	¹⁵And Samuel slept till morning, and opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel feared to tell the vision to Heli.
¹⁶厄里却对撒慕尔说：「撒慕尔，我儿！」他回答说：「我在这里。」	¹⁶Then Heli called Samuel, and said: Samuel, my son. And he answered: Here am I.
¹⁷厄里问说：「上主给你说了什么话，请不要隐瞒我！你若把上主给你说的话，给我隐瞒了一句，愿天主加倍惩罚你。」	¹⁷And he asked him: What is the word that the Lord hath spoken to thee? I beseech thee hide it not from me. May God do so and so to thee, and add so and so, if thou hide from me one word of all that were said to thee.
¹⁸撒慕尔便把那些话全告诉了他，一句也没有隐瞒。厄里说：「他是上主，他看着怎样好，就怎样行罢！」	¹⁸So Samuel told him all the words, and did not hide them from him. And he answered: It is the Lord: let him do what is good in his sight.
¹⁹撒慕尔渐渐长大；上主与他同在，使他说的一切话，没有一句落空。	¹⁹And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and not one of his words fell to the ground.
²⁰于是全以色列从丹直到贝尔舍巴，都知道撒慕尔被立为上主的先知。	²⁰And all Israel from Dan to Bersabee, knew that Samuel was a faithful prophet of the Lord.
²¹自从上主在史罗对撒慕尔显现后，继续在史罗显现于他。	²¹And the Lord again appeared in Silo, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Silo, according to the word of the Lord. And the word of Samuel came to pass to all Israel.
