| 1阿撒的儿子约沙法特继位为王，发奋图强对抗以色列， | 1And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, and grew strong against Israel. |
| 2在犹大各坚城内派驻了大军，在犹大地内和他父亲阿撒所克服的厄弗辣因各城里，也派上了守军。 | 2And he placed numbers of soldiers in all the fortified cities of Juda. And he put garrisons in the land of Juda, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken. |
| 3上主与约沙法特同在，因为他遵行了他父亲最初所行的道路，没有寻求过巴耳神， | 3And the Lord was with Josaphat, because he walked in the first ways of David his father: and trusted not in Baalim, |
| 4只寻求他父亲的天主，履行他的诫命，不照以色列的作风行事。 | 4But in the God of his father, and walk in his commandments, and not according to the sins of Israel. |
| 5因此，上主巩固了他统治的王国，全犹大人都给约沙法特献礼，所以他财产很富，尊荣很大。 | 5And the Lord established the kingdom in his hand, and all Juda brought presents to Josaphat: and he acquired immense riches, and much glory. |
| 6他一心在上主的道路上向上迈进，铲除了犹大境内的高丘和木偶。 | 6And when his heart had taken courage for the ways of the Lord, he took away also the high places and the groves out of Juda. |
| 7他为王第三年上，派遣了他的官员本海耳、敖巴狄雅、则加黎雅、乃塔乃耳和米加雅，往犹大各城去教训百姓。 | 7And in the third year of his reign, he sent of his princes Benhail, and Abdias, and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Micheas, to teach in the cities of Juda: |
| 8随从他们的有肋未人舍玛雅、乃塔尼雅、则巴狄雅、阿撒耳、舍米辣摩特、约纳堂、阿多尼雅和多彼雅：这些都是肋未人；还有司祭厄里沙玛和约兰。 | 8And with them the Levites, Semeias, and Nathanias, and Zabadias, and Asael, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Thobadonias Levites, and with them Elisama, and Joram priests. |
| 9他们随身带着上主的法律书，在犹大施教，走遍了犹大各城，教训百姓。 | 9And they taught the people in Juda, having with them the book of the law of the Lord: and they went about all the cities of Juda, and instructed the people. |
| 10上主威震犹大四周所有的国家，因此都不敢与约沙法特作战。 | 10And the fear of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Juda, and they durst not make war against Josaphat. |
| 11有些培肋舍特人向约沙法特进贡献银，阿剌伯人给他呈献家畜，即公绵羊七千七百只，公山羊七千七百只。 | 11The Philistines also brought presents to Josaphat, and tribute in silver, and the Arabians brought him cattle, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and as many he goats. |
| 12约沙法特的势力日渐强大，达到顶峰：在犹大建造了一些堡垒和贮货城， | 12And Josaphat grew, and became exceeding great: and he built in Juda houses like towers, and walled cities. |
| 13在犹大各城又做了坚固的工事，在耶路撒冷驻有英勇的部队。 | 13And he prepared many works in the cities of Juda: and he had warriors, and valiant men in Jerusalem. |
| 14他们的人数，按照家族记录如下：犹大的军长，首为阿德纳军长，率领三十万勇士， | 14Of whom this is the number of the houses and families of every one: in Juda captains of the army, Ednas the chief, and with him three hundred thousand most valiant men. |
| 15次为约哈南军长，率领二十八万人， | 15After him Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand. |
| 16其次为齐革黎的儿子阿玛息雅，他甘愿献身于上主，率领二十万勇士； | 16And after him was Amasias the son of Zechri, consecrated to the Lord, and with him were two hundred thousand valiant men. |
| 17属本雅明的有勇士厄肋雅达，他率领二十万挽弓和持盾的人； | 17After him was Eliada valiant in battle, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield. |
| 18其次为约匝巴得，率领十八万常备军人。 | 18After him also was Jozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for war. |
| 19这些都是服侍君王的人，王在全犹大各坚城所派驻的人，尚未计算在内。 | 19All these were at the hand of the king, beside others, whom he had put in the walled cities, in all Juda. |
