¹责鲁雅的儿子约阿布看透了君王怀念阿贝沙隆的心，	¹And Joab the son of Sarvia, understanding that the king's heart was turned to Absalom,
²就派人到特科亚去，从那里叫来一位明智的妇人，对她说：「请你装作一个居丧的妇人，穿上丧服，别抹油，像一个为死者居丧很久的妇人，	²Sent to Thecua, and fetched from thence a wise woman: and said to her: Feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on mourning apparel, and be not anointed with oil, that thou mayest be as a woman that had a long time been mourning for one dead.
³然后去见君王，对他这样这样说：······」约阿布就把要说的话，口授给她。	³And thou shalt go in to the king, and shalt speak to him in this manner. And Joab put the words in her mouth.
⁴特科亚的妇人一来到君王前，便俯伏在地，叩拜喊说：「大王，救命！」	⁴And when the woman of Thecua was come in to the king, she fell before him upon the ground, and worshipped, and said: Save me, O king.
⁵君王对她说：「你有什么事？」她答说：「哎！我是个寡妇，我的丈夫死了。	⁵And the king said to her: What is the matter with thee? She answered: Alas, I am a widow woman: for my husband is dead.
⁶你的婢女有两个儿子，他们俩在田野争斗，无人解劝，彼此对打，竟将一个打死了。	⁶And thy handmaid had two sons: and they quarrelled with each other in the field, and there was none to part them: and the one struck the other, and slew him.
⁷全族的人都起来反对你的婢女说：将那打死自己兄弟的交出来，让我们杀了他，抵偿他所杀的兄弟的命，即使是后嗣，我们也要消灭。这样，他们连我所剩下的一星之火，也要熄灭，不让我的丈夫在世上留名，或者留后。」	⁷And behold the whole kindred rising against thy handmaid, saith: Deliver him that hath slain his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother, whom he slew, and that we may destroy the heir: and they seek to quench my spark which is left, and will leave my husband no name, nor remainder upon the earth.
⁸君王对妇人说：「你回家去罢！我会为你下令查办。」	⁸And the king said to the woman: Go to thy house, and I will give charge concerning thee.
⁹特科亚的妇人立即对君王说：「我主，大王！愿此罪归于我及我父家，与大王，与陛下无干。」	⁹And the woman of Thecua said to the king: Upon me, my lord, be the iniquity, and upon the house of my father: but may the king and his throne be guiltless.
¹⁰君王说：「凡向你再出言恐吓的，你把他带到我这里来，谁也不敢再麻烦你了。」	¹⁰And the king said: If any one shall say ought against thee, bring him to me, and be shall not touch thee any more.
¹¹她继续说：「望大王提及上主你的天主的名，不许报血仇的人再从事破坏，不将我的儿子消灭。」他答说：「我指着永生的上主起誓：你儿子的一根头发，也决不会落在地上。」	¹¹And she said: Let the king remember the Lord his God, that the next of kin be not multiplied to take revenge, and that they may not kill my son. And he said: As the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.
¹²妇人接着说：「望我主大王，许你的婢女再进一言！」他答说：「说罢！」	¹²Then the woman said: Let thy handmaid speak one word to my lord the king. And he said: Speak.
¹³妇人说：「为什么大王想出这样的事来，反对天主的百姓？君王说出这话，若不将自己放逐的人召回来，就不免有罪了！	¹³And the woman said: Why hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God, and why hath the king spoken this word, to sin, and not bring home again his own exile?
¹⁴我们原来都该死，如同泼在地上的水，不能再收回，天主也不再给人生命；所以大王要设法不使那放逐的人，成为一个永不能回家的人。	¹⁴We all die, and like waters that return no more, we fall down into the earth: neither will God have a soul to perish, but recalleth, meaning that he that is cast off should not altogether perish.
¹⁵我现今到这里来，对我主大王提及此事，是因为有些人恐吓我，为此你的婢女想：我得向君王说明，也许君王会实践他婢女的请求。	¹⁵Now therefore I am come, to speak this word to my lord the king before the people. And thy handmaid said: I will speak to the king, it maybe the king will perform the request of his handmaid.
¹⁶因为大王必会听从我，从那要由天主的产业中铲除我和我儿子之人的手中，救出自己的婢女来。	¹⁶And the king hath hearkened to me to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of all that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
¹⁷所以你的婢女说：我主大王的话，实能安慰人心，因为我主大王对于分辨善恶，实如同天主的使者。望上主你的天主，与你同在！」	¹⁷Then let thy handmaid say, that the word of the Lord the king be made as a sacrifice. For even as an angel of God, so is my lord the king, that he is neither moved with blessing nor cursing: wherefore the Lord thy God is also with thee.
¹⁸君王回答妇人说：「我有一事问你，你可不要对我隐瞒。」妇人答说：「我主大王，请说！」	¹⁸And the king answering, said to the woman: Hide not from me the thing that I ask thee. And the woman said to him: Speak, my lord the king.
¹⁹君王问说：「在这一切事上，是不是约阿布的手在你后面？」妇人答说：「我大王万岁！我主君王所说的，丝毫不差，正是你的仆人约阿布吩咐了我，是他将这一切话，口授给你的婢女。	¹⁹And the king said: Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? The woman answered, and said: By the health of thy soul, my lord, O king, it is neither on the left hand, nor on the right, in all these things which my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he commanded me, and he put all these words into the mouth of thy handmaid.
²⁰使事实改变真相的，确是你的仆人约阿布所做的；但是我主贤明，贤明得如同天主的使者，晓得地上所有的事。」	²⁰That I should come about with this form of speech, thy servant Joab, commanded this: but thou, my lord, O king, art wise, according to the wisdom of ail angel of God, to understand all things upon earth.
²¹王便对约阿布说：「好，现在我就履行此事。去召回孩子阿贝沙隆来！」	²¹And the king said to Joab: Behold I am appeased and have granted thy request: Go therefore and fetch back the boy Absalom.
²²约阿布就俯首至地，叩拜祝福君王。随后说：「我主大王，今日你的仆人知道，我在你眼前获得了宠幸，因为大王实践了他仆人的请求。」	²²And Joab falling down to the ground upon his face, adored, and blessed the king: and Joab said: This day thy servant hath understood, that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king: for thou hast fulfilled the request of thy servant.
²³约阿布就起身，往革叔尔去，将阿贝沙隆领回耶路撒冷。	²³Then Joab arose and went to Gessur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
²⁴君王说：「叫他回自己家里去罢！不要让他来见我。」于是阿贝沙隆回到自己家里，没有见君王的面。	²⁴But the king said: Let him return into his house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned into his house, and saw not the king's face.
²⁵在全以色列民中，没有一人像阿贝沙隆那样英俊，堪受赞美的；在他身上，自踵至顶，没有一点缺陷。	²⁵But in all Israel there was not a man so comely, and so exceedingly beautiful as Absalom: from the sole of the foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.
²⁶他剪发以后，──他每年年底剪发一次，因为头上积发太多，他必须剪去，──称了称剪的头发，依王家的衡制，重二百「协刻耳」。	²⁶And when he polled his hair (now he was polled once a year, because his hair was burdensome to him) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred sicles, according to the common weight.
²⁷阿贝沙隆有三个儿子，一个女儿；女儿名叫塔玛尔，是个容貌很美丽的女子。	²⁷And there were born to Absalom three sons: and one daughter, whose, name was Thamar, and she was very beautiful.
²⁸阿贝沙隆在耶路撒冷住了两年，仍未得见君王的面。	²⁸And Absalom dwelt two years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.
²⁹阿贝沙隆遂派人到约阿布那里，求他引自己去见君王。但是，约阿布不愿到他那里去；他又派人去，他仍是不肯来。	²⁹He sent therefore to Joab, to send him to the king: but he would not come to him. And when he had sent the second time, and he would not come to him,
³⁰他于是对自己的仆人说：「你们看，约阿布的庄田与我的相接，他在那里种了大麦，你们去放火烧田。」阿贝沙隆的仆人于是放火烧了田。	³⁰He said to his servants: You know the field of Joab near my field, that hath a crop of barley: go now and set it on fire. So the servants of Absalom set the corn on fire. And Joab's servants coming with their garments rent, said: The servants of Absalom have set part of the field on fire.
³¹约阿布就起身来到阿贝沙隆的家里，对他说：「你的仆人为什么烧了我的田？」	³¹Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom to his house, and said: Why have thy servants set my corn on fire?
³²阿贝沙隆回答约阿布说：「看，我派人到你那里说：请你到我这里来，我愿派你去见君王，问他为什么叫我从革叔尔回来？假如我仍留在那里，为我岂不更好！如今我愿见君王的面，我若有罪，他可杀我！」	³²And Absalom answered Joab: I sent to thee beseeching thee to come to me, that I might send thee to the king, to say to him: Wherefore am I come from Gessur? it had been better for me to be there: I beseech thee therefore that I may see the face of the king: and if he be mindful of my iniquity, let him kill me.
³³约阿布便去见君王，禀告了这些话。王遂召见阿贝沙隆；他来到君王前，俯首至地，叩拜君王；君王就吻了阿贝沙隆。	³³So Joab going in to the king, told him all: and Absalom was called for, and he went in to the king: and prostrated himself on the ground before him: and the king kissed Absalom.
