¹有从犹太下来的几个人教训弟兄们说：「若是你们不按梅瑟的惯例行割损，不能得救。」	¹And some coming down from Judea, taught the brethren: That except you be circumcised after the manner of Moses, you cannot be saved.
²保禄和巴尔纳伯同他们起了不少的争执和辩论；大家就指定保禄和巴尔纳伯，与他们中的几个人，上耶路撒冷去见宗徒和长老，讨论这问题。	²And when Paul and Barnabas had no small contest with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of the other side, should go up to the apostles and priests to Jerusalem about this question.
³他们由教会送走之后，就路过腓尼基和撒玛黎雅，沿途叙述外邦人归化的事，使众弟兄非常喜欢。	³They therefore being brought on their way by the church, passed through Phenice, and Samaria, relating the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.
⁴他们到了耶路撒冷，为教会、宗徒和长老所欢迎，就报告了天主偕同他们所行的一切大事。	⁴And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church, and by the apostles and ancients, declaring how great things God had done with them.
⁵却有几个信教的法利塞党人起来说：「必须叫外邦人受割损，又应该命他们遵守梅瑟法律。」	⁵But there arose some of the sect of the Pharisees that believed, saying: They must be circumcised, and be commanded to observe the law of Moses.
⁶宗徒和长老们就开会商讨此事。	⁶And the apostles and ancients assembled to consider of this matter.
⁷辩论多时之后，伯多禄起来向他们说：「诸位仁人弟兄！你们深知，多时以前，天主就在你们中选定了，要藉我的口，叫外邦人听福音的道理而信从。	⁷And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: Men, brethren, you know, that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
⁸洞察人心的天主，已为他们作了证，因为赐给了他们圣神，如同赐给了我们一样；	⁸And God, who knoweth the hearts, gave testimony, giving unto them the Holy Ghost, as well as to us;
⁹在我们和他们中间没有作任何区别，因他以信德净化了他们的心。	⁹And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
¹⁰既然如此，现今你们为什么试探天主，在门徒的颈项上，放上连我们的祖先和我们自己都不能负荷的轭呢？	¹⁰Now therefore, why tempt you God to put a yoke upon the necks of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
¹¹但是，我们信我们得救，是藉着主耶稣的恩宠，正和他们一样。」	¹¹But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe to be saved, in like manner as they also.
¹²于是众人都缄默不语，静听巴尔纳伯和保禄述说天主藉着他们在外邦人中，行了怎样大的征兆与奇蹟。	¹²And all the multitude held their peace; and they heard Barnabas and Paul telling what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
¹³大家都不出声之后，雅各伯接着说：「诸位仁人弟兄，请听我说！	¹³And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying: Men, brethren, hear me.
¹⁴西满述说了天主当初怎样关心外邦人，由他们中选拔一个百姓，属于自己名下；	¹⁴Simon hath related how God first visited to take of the Gentiles a people to his name.
¹⁵先知的话也正与此相合，如经上记载：	¹⁵And to this agree the words of the prophets, as it is written:
¹⁶『以后我要回来，重建达味已倾倒的居所；已坍塌了的，要把它重建而竖立起来，	¹⁶After these things I will return, and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and the ruins thereof I will rebuild, and I will set it up:
¹⁷为的是其余的人，即一切以我的名得名的民族，要寻求上主：	¹⁷That the residue of men may seek after the Lord, and all nations upon whom my name is invoked, saith the Lord, who doth these things.
¹⁸这是很久以前，公布这事的主说的。』	¹⁸To the Lord was his own work known from the beginning of the world.
¹⁹因此，按我的意见，不要再加给由外邦归依天主的人烦难，	¹⁹For which cause I judge that they, who from among the Gentiles are converted to God, are not to be disquieted.
²⁰只要函告他们戒避偶像的玷污和奸淫，戒食窒死之物和血。	²⁰But that we write unto them, that they refrain themselves from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
²¹因为自古以来，在各城内都有宣讲梅瑟的人，每安息日在会堂中诵读他的书。」	²¹For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him in the synagogues, where he is read every sabbath.
²²当时，宗徒和长老同全教会决定，从他们中选几个人，派他们同保禄和巴尔纳伯去安提约基雅。所派的，有号称巴尔撒巴的犹达和息拉，是弟兄中的领导人物。	²²Then it pleased the apostles and ancients, with the whole church, to choose men of their own company, and to send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas, who was surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren.
²³他们带去的信如下：「宗徒和长老弟兄们，给在安提约基雅、叙利亚和基里基雅由外邦归化的弟兄们请安。	²³Writing by their hands: The apostles and ancients, brethren, to the brethren of the Gentiles that are at Antioch, and in Syria and Cilicia, greeting.
²⁴我们听说有几个从我们这里去的，而并非我们所派去的人，讲话扰乱你们，混乱了你们的心。	²⁴Forasmuch as we have heard, that some going out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls; to whom we gave no commandment:
²⁵我们取得同意后，决定拣选几个人，派他们同我们可爱的巴尔纳伯和保禄，到你们那里去。	²⁵It hath seemed good to us, being assembled together, to choose out men, and to send them unto you, with our well beloved Barnabas and Paul:
²⁶此二人为了我们主耶稣基督的名，已付出了自己的性命。	²⁶Men that have given their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
²⁷我们派犹达和息拉去，他们要亲口报告同样的事。	²⁷We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves also will, by word of mouth, tell you the same things.
²⁸因为圣神和我们决定，不再加给你们什么重担，除了这几项重要的事：	²⁸For it hath seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us, to lay no further burden upon you than these necessary things:
²⁹即戒食祭邪神之物、血和窒死之物，并戒避奸淫；若你们戒绝了这一切，那就好了。祝你们安好！」	²⁹That you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication; from which things keeping yourselves, you shall do well. Fare ye well.
³⁰他们去后，就下到安提约基雅，聚集了众人，递上公函。	³⁰They therefore being dismissed, went down to Antioch; and gathering together the multitude, delivered the epistle.
³¹人们读了，对这劝慰的话都十分欢喜。	³¹Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
³²犹达和息拉，因为他们也是先知，就讲了许多话，劝勉坚固弟兄们。	³²But Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, with many words comforted the brethren, and confirmed them.
³³过了一些时候，弟兄们打发他们带着请安的话，回到派他们的人那里。	³³And after they had spent some time there, they were let go with peace by the brethren, unto them that had sent them.
³⁴【但是息拉决意留在那里，只犹达一人回了耶路撒冷。】	³⁴But it seemed good unto Silas to remain there; and Judas alone departed to Jerusalem.
³⁵保禄和巴尔纳伯却留在安提约基雅施教，同别的许多人宣讲主的道理。	³⁵And Paul and Barnabas continued at Antioch, teaching and preaching, with many others, the word of the Lord.
³⁶过了些日子，保禄向巴尔纳伯说：「我们要回去，视察我们曾讲过主道的各城，看看弟兄怎么样了。」	³⁶And after some days, Paul said to Barnabas: Let us return and visit our brethren in all the cities wherein we have preached the word of the Lord, to see how they do.
³⁷巴尔纳伯愿意也带号称马尔谷的若望同去，	³⁷And Barnabas would have taken with them John also, that was surnamed Mark;
³⁸但保禄认为不应带他去，因为他从旁非里雅离开他们，没有同他们一起去工作。	³⁸But Paul desired that he (as having departed from them out of Pamphylia, and not gone with them to the work) might not be received.
³⁹二人于是起了争执，以致彼此分离。巴尔纳伯遂带马尔谷，乘船往塞浦路斯去了。	³⁹And there arose a dissension, so that they departed one from another; and Barnabas indeed taking Mark, sailed to Cyprus.
⁴⁰保禄却拣选了息拉，蒙弟兄们将他托于主的恩宠以后，	⁴⁰But Paul choosing Silas, departed, being delivered by the brethren to the grace of God.
⁴¹也起身走了，他走遍了叙利亚和基里基雅，坚固各教会。	⁴¹And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches, commanding them to keep the precepts of the apostles and the ancients.
